Parking at Lakeside Joondalup is free in every car park for up to four hours, according to the centre’s own parking page. Joondalup railway station, on the line to Perth and Yanchep, sits beside the centre, and the free Blue and Red CAT buses loop past it on weekdays. Western Australia does not use daylight saving, so all times are Perth time (AWST, UTC+8).

Is parking free at Lakeside Joondalup?

Yes, for up to four hours. The centre says it has over 4,800 car bays, of which about 1,500 are undercover. The parents with prams bays are in the East and South multi-level car parks.

The centre’s Santa pages name two car parks by entrance. The outdoor car park next to the train station, reached off Collier Pass, is its pick for the Sensitive Santa sessions, with the entry through the doors in front of Joondalup station. The South Mall ground floor car park, also off Collier Pass, is the one for Pet Santa. The address is 420 Joondalup Drive, Joondalup, and the customer service number is (08) 9300 3888.

Can I get to Lakeside Joondalup by train?

Yes. Transperth’s Joondalup station map, marked “current as of 15 July 2024”, shows trains to Perth and trains to Yanchep and a path “To Lakeside Shopping Centre”. Its legend also lists taxi, short-term parking, bike racks and accessible paths. Because the map is more than two years old, treat the layout as a guide and follow the signs when you arrive. The same map shows two buses marked “904 Train replacement” for times when trains are replaced by buses; look at Transperth’s service updates before you travel on a day with track work.

Are the CAT buses free, and when do they run?

Transperth’s Joondalup CAT guide, effective 31 August 2025, says the Joondalup Central Area Transit buses are free and you can get on and off as often as you like without paying. It shows three loops from Joondalup Station:

Loop Route Days
Blue CAT Circular, north/south from Joondalup Station via Grand Boulevard and Lakeside Drive Monday to Friday
Red CAT Circular, south/north from the station via Grand Boulevard and Lakeside Drive Monday to Friday
Yellow CAT Circular, south/north from the station servicing Edith Cowan University Monday to Thursday on ECU days only

The guide’s timetable shows the Red and Blue buses leaving the station roughly every 15 minutes through the day. It says there is no service on Saturday, Sunday and selected public holidays, and that you should hail the driver or ring the bell. The CAT map marks “Lakeside Joondalup Shopping Centre” and a “Lakeside Drive” stop on each loop. For live times, use the Transperth app or call the InfoLine on 13 62 13.

What are the opening hours?

The centre’s hours, as listed on 28 October 2026, were:

Day Hours
Monday to Wednesday 9am to 5:30pm
Thursday 9am to 9pm
Friday 9am to 5:30pm
Saturday 9am to 5pm
Sunday 11am to 5pm

The centre says individual store hours may vary. Christmas and New Year hours were not on the page when this guide was checked.

What are the rules for parking on the streets nearby?

The streets and open-air car parks around the centre are run by the City of Joondalup, not by Lakeside. The City says all its street parking and open-air car parks are free on weekends and public holidays, with no time restrictions. On other days its fees and rules are:

Where City of Joondalup rule
On-street in the central blocks of the city 30 minutes free, but you must start a session in the EasyPark app or at a meter to use it
Inner city centre $2 an hour, first 30 minutes free, 2-hour cap
Outer city areas $8 a day on-street, or $5 a day in an open-air car park
Seven open-air car parks in the centre $2 an hour or $5 a day
Reid Promenade Car Park Multi-storey, hourly and daily tickets, and monthly permits
Once you reach the signed maximum Move to a different section of road and do not return to the same section within 2 hours

The City’s meters are ticketless and pay-by-plate: enter your number plate, choose a time, tap a phone or card, and the City checks with licence plate recognition. Heavy and long vehicles may not park on a carriageway, verge or car park for more than one hour. ACROD permit holders can park in a standard bay if no accessible bay is free, and in paid areas the concession gives twice the time purchased.

What happens if I get a parking fine in Joondalup?

The City says an infringement must be paid within 28 days of the issue date. After 14 days a Notification of Infringement is issued, and after a further 28 days a Final Demand Notice arrives with a late fee. If it is still unpaid, it goes to the Fines Enforcement Registry. An appeal must be lodged within 28 days, with documents such as a permit or proof of payment, and by the driver at the time. The City lists reasons it will not withdraw a fine, including needing the toilet, being late back to the car, going to find coins and misreading a sign. A no-stopping sign means you must not stop for any reason or any length of time. This guide does not give penalty amounts, because the schedule under the City’s Parking Local Law 2023 was not read.

The City collects payments in person at 90 Boas Avenue, Joondalup, and online through its self-service portal. If the car park monitoring at Lakeside itself fines you, that is a separate appeal to PES Retail.
