- The City of Gold Coast’s City alerts page
This brief covers five City of Gold Coast road closures that start or are scheduled between 19 and 28 October 2026, including a full closure of Broadbeach Boulevarde between Thursday 22 and Monday 26 October while a developer dismantles a tower crane. The City lists many more closures than these. The full closures keep local access, and most entries are notice windows, not full-time closures.
This brief draws on the City’s road closure alerts, which the City publishes on its City alerts page, as read on 19 October 2026. Many of these entries give a range of dates in which work happens on only some days, so a road may be open for part of a window. The weekend closure of Old Pacific Highway at Pimpama is covered in our separate brief.
Which closures start this week?
| Where | When (City’s dates) | Impact | Why |
|---|---|---|---|
| Schuster Avenue and Santa Monica Road, Miami | 6:30am Wednesday 21 October to 4pm Friday 23 October | Full closure, local traffic access only | Maintenance of a vertical garden at the medical centre |
| Broadbeach Boulevarde, Broadbeach | 4am Thursday 22 October to 8pm Monday 26 October | Full closure, local traffic access only | Developer works to dismantle a tower crane (one day between the dates) |
| Jefferson Lane, Thirteenth Avenue and Eleventh Avenue, Palm Beach | 5am Thursday 22 October to 6pm Wednesday 28 October | Full closure, local traffic access only; local access maintained on Jefferson Lane between Thirteenth and Eleventh Avenues | Developer works; the City says the work is planned for 22 October, with spare dates of 26 and 28 October |
| Harper Street and Ashmore Road, Molendinar | 6pm Tuesday 27 October to 6am Tuesday 24 November | Full closure, local traffic access only | Asphalt resurfacing; the City says one shift between the nominated dates |
| Amity Road, Coomera | 7pm Monday 19 October to 5am Monday 16 November | Half road closure with a detour; traffic control on site | Geotechnical investigation works |

What does “local traffic access only” mean?
The City uses the phrase for a full road closure where residents and businesses in the closed section can still reach their properties. The City’s alerts give no detour routes for these closures, so follow the traffic control and signs on the day.
Is the Broadbeach Boulevarde closure the whole five days?
The City’s wording is “to safely facilitate a tower crane dismantle (one day between dates)”. That suggests the closure is needed on one day within the window from 4am Thursday 22 October to 8pm Monday 26 October, but the City’s alert does not say which day, so treat every day in the window as possible and allow extra time. The City first listed the window as ending at 8pm on Friday 23 October and extended it to 8pm on Monday 26 October in an alert read on 22 October.

Is Broadbeach Boulevarde closed for longer than two days?
Yes. A separate City alert lists a full road closure of Broadbeach Boulevarde and Brittania Avenue, with local traffic access only, from 6am Monday 12 October to 5pm Friday 18 December 2026, for stormwater works and construction of pedestrian crossings. That is the same work as the Broadbeach Boulevard pedestrian crossing upgrade in our guide to City road projects. The crane closure is an extra short closure on the same street. A City alert read on 23 October adds a third Broadbeach closure from Monday 26 October to Saturday 19 December: a continuous closure of Broadbeach Boulevarde between Australia Avenue and Queensland Avenue, and of Queensland Avenue between Broadbeach Boulevarde and Old Burleigh Road, with local access maintained.
What is the biggest closure on the City’s list?
The City’s alerts list the Gold Coast 500 build, event (23 to 25 October) and bump-out in Main Beach and Surfers Paradise, with various full road closures and lane closures at different times from 11 September to 14 November 2026. See our guide to Gold Coast 500 road closures. The City also lists nightly utility works that close Cavill Avenue, Gold Coast Highway and Surfers Paradise Boulevard in Surfers Paradise on Monday to Wednesday nights until early November; see our guide to the Cavill Avenue closures.
What else is on the City’s list?
- Traders Way and Currumbin Creek Road, Currumbin Waters: full closure with local access only, for road resurfacing on Traders Way, until 6am Saturday 24 October.
- Jefferson Lane, Palm Beach: a separate full closure with local access only until 4pm Friday 30 October, for Energex underground cable and pole works (one day between the dates).
- Surman Court, Mermaid Waters: full closure with local access only until 6pm Friday 13 November, for a City watermain replacement program (three weeks between the dates).
- Karbunya Street, Mermaid Waters: a half road closure with a detour from 6am Monday 2 November, for asphalt resurfacing (one day between the dates).
- Nerang Street, Southport: a full closure from 11am Friday 30 October for the CBS Twilight Markets; see our guide to the markets.

How reliable are these dates?
The City’s alerts are planned works with approved windows. Developer works in particular can move, and the Palm Beach entry lists spare dates of 26 and 28 October in case 22 October is missed. The City’s page is the place to check on the day. State roads such as the Pacific Motorway are listed on QLDTraffic, and our guide to long-running M1 works covers those. For the City’s larger projects that run into 2027, see our guide to City road projects.
