What is the Tour de Noosa Garth Prowd Ride?

The organisers describe it as a super-chill 28 km ride along part of the Noosa Tri bike course. It rolls out from Noosa Heads Surf Club to the top of Gyndier Drive before turning back to Noosa, and finishes with a free coffee from First Batch at the Woods. All proceeds go to the Garth Prowd OAM Triathlon Scholarship, which the organisers say continues the legacy of Garth Prowd OAM (1952 to 2017), the founder of Noosa Tri.

How do I get there on Friday?

The organisers say parking close to the event area is limited, because transition is in one of the main parking areas of Noosa, and they ask visitors to allow plenty of time. A courtesy shuttle bus runs on Friday from 6:00am to 8:00pm, from Sunshine Beach Anglican Church via Noosa Junction station to Noosa Heads station, according to the shuttle timetable. The event schedule lists the return service at Noosa Junction Transit Centre (platform 2 Stop C) and Noosa Drive, adjacent to Avis Hire, from 6:00am to 8:00pm.

Noosa Ferry offers early morning express services from Pelican Boat Hire (Ferry Stop 3) in Noosaville direct to the Sofitel Jetty (Stop 7) on Hastings Street, with details on the organisers’ shuttle page. The shuttle page notes that the schedule is subject to change. Journey times by public transport are on the Translink journey planner.
