For the Australia v England one day international on Friday 13 November, there are no stadium event buses, so take a train to Perth Stadium Station or the Red CAT from the city. Because the match is on a Friday, Transperth says direct Yanchep and Mandurah line trains will not run before the game, and the free event bus network that serves weekend matches stays off before and after play.

The match starts with doors at 10:00am and the first ball at 11:30am, and Transperth gives an approximate end of play of 7:00pm. Your ticket includes free Transperth travel, as long as you carry it with you. This guide covers how to reach the ground, which routes replace the event buses, and the late-evening bus disruptions that fall on the same week. Perth uses Australian Western Standard Time (UTC+8), with no daylight saving, so every time here is Perth time.

What time does the match start and finish?

What Time
Doors open 10:00am
First ball 11:30am
End of play (approx.) 7:00pm

These are the times on Transperth’s event page. Cricket matches can end earlier or later than the approximate finish, so treat 7:00pm as a guide rather than a promise. Transperth also says the direct trains home start about 15 minutes after the match ends, so the exact time depends on how play goes.

Is public transport free with my ticket?

Yes, with conditions. Transperth says your ticket to the ODI includes free travel on Transperth services for three hours before, during and for three hours after the match. You show the ticket to the driver or inspector if asked.

  • You must have the ticket on you. If you plan to collect it at the venue, you pay a normal fare to get there.
  • The offer covers Transperth services only.
  • Transperth’s Optus Stadium page says events at the stadium are joint ticketed, so the free travel window applies either side of the event.

If you are not sure how a SmartRider or contactless card works for the rest of your trip, our guide to Transperth fares, Go Anywhere and SmartRider covers the fare rules from 1 January 2026.

Which trains run to Perth Stadium Station?

Perth Stadium Station has six platforms on two concourses. For this match Transperth has added extra trains on the Armadale and Thornlie-Cockburn lines.

Direction What Transperth says
Perth to Perth Stadium, 9:56am to 11:48am A train every 4 minutes on the Armadale and Thornlie-Cockburn lines
Perth to Perth Stadium, other times A train about every 8 minutes on those two lines
Yanchep and Mandurah lines before the match No direct trains, because the weekday peak-hour timetable is already running
Home after the match Direct Yanchep and Mandurah line trains start about 15 minutes after the end of the match
High frequency home From about 7:15pm

If you live on the Yanchep or Mandurah lines, catch your normal train to Perth or Perth Underground and change to the Armadale or Thornlie-Cockburn line for the stadium. Fremantle line passengers do the same at Perth Station. Midland, Airport and Ellenbrook line passengers can get off at East Perth Station and walk over the Windan Bridge, according to Transperth’s Optus Stadium page, which links a walking map.

Which platform do I use to go home?

Trains home leave from the platform for your line. The platform numbers below are from Transperth’s event page.

Going towards Platform Concourse
Perth (all trains to Perth Station) Platform 2 Eastern
Yanchep Platform 4 Western
Mandurah Platform 5 Eastern
Byford (Armadale Line) and Cockburn Central (Thornlie-Cockburn Line) Platform 6 Eastern

Everyone leaves at about the same time when the match ends, so plan around Transperth’s note that trains run at high frequency from about 7:15pm. Taking any train to Perth and changing there is also an option the event page offers.

How do I get there if I normally rely on the event buses?

The event buses (routes 650 to 659) do not run for this match, so you take a normal timetabled bus or train. Transperth publishes a Weekday Stadium Services page for exactly this case. These are regular services that Transperth warns may be busier than usual around event times, so allow extra time.

Travelling from Transperth’s alternative
Karrinyup Bus Station Route 423 or 425 to Stirling Station, Yanchep Line, then the Armadale or Thornlie-Cockburn Line from Perth Underground
Mirrabooka Bus Station Route 960 to Perth Busport, then the Armadale or Thornlie-Cockburn Line
Galleria Bus Station / Beaufort St Route 950 to Perth Station, then the Armadale or Thornlie-Cockburn Line
Bassendean Station Midland Line to East Perth Station and walk, or to Perth Station and change
Great Eastern Hwy Route 940 to Great Eastern Hwy, Burswood, and walk
Kalamunda Bus Station Route 275 or 276 to High Wycombe Station, then the Airport Line to East Perth and walk
Belmont Forum Route 39 or 935 to Great Eastern Hwy, Burswood, and walk
Curtin University / Victoria Park Route 960 to Causeway Bus Station and walk
Canning Hwy Route 910 to Causeway Bus Station and walk
Booragoon Bus Station Route 114, 115 or 160 to Elizabeth Quay Bus Station, then the Armadale or Thornlie-Cockburn Line at Perth Station
Hamilton Hill Route 114 or 115 to Elizabeth Quay Bus Station, then the Armadale or Thornlie-Cockburn Line at Perth Station
Fremantle Station Fremantle Line to Perth Station, then the Armadale or Thornlie-Cockburn Line

The Transperth page lists more starting points, including Southlands Boulevard, Bentley Plaza and Albany Highway, so check the full list if your suburb is not above.

Does the Red CAT go to the stadium?

Transperth’s event page says the Red CAT will be extended to Matagarup Bridge, the pedestrian bridge to the stadium, from about two hours before the event until 45 minutes after it, including during the match. Extra Red CAT services will also run. You then walk across the bridge.

There is one catch. A Transperth service update says the Red CAT is disrupted from Sunday 1 November to Saturday 19 December because of road closures. The Matagarup Bridge stop (CAT ID 79) will not be in use, and the nearest alternatives are the Trinity College stops (CAT ID 147 and 148). Transperth’s Optus Stadium page also says the Red CAT is temporarily running a shorter route that ends at Hale Street. The event page does not mention this, so we can’t tell you for certain where the Red CAT will drop you on 13 November. Check the JourneyPlanner the day before, and keep the train as your main plan.

Are there bus disruptions on the day?

Some. Transperth’s service update for Routes 67 and 960 says both are disrupted nightly from 7:00pm until the last service on Monday 9 to Friday 13 November, because of road closures. The affected stops are on Yirrigan Drive and Dianella Drive in Dianella, on the way into Mirrabooka Bus Station. Route 960 is the route the weekday stadium page suggests from Mirrabooka, Curtin and Victoria Park, so if you take it home after play, expect deviations and minor delays and a bus that may not connect with timetabled trains.

On the trains, the Transperth service updates list (checked 28 October) shows no nightly closures on the Armadale, Thornlie-Cockburn, Mandurah or Yanchep lines on the night of Friday 13 November. The Yanchep Line nightly closures run from Monday 9 to Thursday 12 November, and Edgewater Station’s platform staircase works run until Friday 13 November. The weekend after, on Sunday 15 November, there are afternoon closures on several lines. Check the service updates page again before you travel, because these lists change.

Can I park at Optus Stadium?

Optus Stadium’s parking page says there is no parking at the stadium on major event days and that the car parks are closed to the general public on those days. We read that page on 21 October. We could not load the stadium’s What’s On page for this match, so we cannot say whether this ODI is on its list of major event days. The safer plan is to assume you cannot park at the ground. Our guide to getting to Optus Stadium on event days sets out the usual rules, including the station layout and the weekend event bus network that does not run for this Friday match.

What time should I leave?

  • To arrive for the first ball at 11:30am: Transperth’s every-4-minutes trains leave Perth between 9:56am and 11:48am, and doors open at 10:00am. The window runs past the 11:30am first ball, so do not leave it to the last train; Transperth does not give the trip time, so check the JourneyPlanner and allow time for entry checks.
  • To get home: Expect a wait on the platform at full time. The high-frequency service starts about 7:15pm, and the direct Yanchep and Mandurah trains start about 15 minutes after the last ball.
  • Free travel window: The ticket works three hours either side of the event, so you can travel in the morning and into the evening without paying a fare.

What is still unconfirmed?

Optus Stadium’s own website blocked our requests, so we have not seen the match page, ticket prices, bag policy or the list of major event days. Check prices and entry rules with the ticket seller and the stadium before you go. Transperth’s pages are the source for everything about travel in this guide, and Transperth says to use the JourneyPlanner before you leave. For help, the Transperth InfoLine is 13 62 13.
