The Rockingham Foreshore has timed parking bays ranging from 5 minutes to 2 hours and over 650 untimed bays, according to the City of Rockingham. Its foreshore map says all parking is free and there are no time limits after 6pm. The City adds that restrictions can change at short notice, so the sign at your bay is the one to follow.

This guide uses the City of Rockingham’s parking rules page and its Foreshore Parking Map (a PDF flyer), both read on 7 November 2026. The flyer says its information is correct as of October 2024 and points readers to the City’s website for the most current details.

How many bays are there, and where?

The flyer numbers 12 areas around the foreshore. Each row below copies the counts the flyer gives; “None listed” means the flyer does not list that type of bay for that area.

Is parking free at the Rockingham Foreshore?

The flyer states “All parking is free” and “No time limits after 6pm”. It also says there is a variety of timed bays from 5 minutes to 2 hours. The City’s parking rules page says restrictions are enforced on all days, including public holidays, unless the signs say otherwise. So a bay that is free is not necessarily unlimited during the day: check whether your bay is timed or untimed.

Where are the main car parks?

The flyer shows the largest groups of untimed bays in these places:

Place Untimed bays
Gary Holland rear car park 216
Wanliss Street Foreshore 80
Flinders Lane, between Kent and Patterson 78
Rockingham Museum car park 77
Wanliss Street, between Kent and Rockingham Beach Road 51
Kent Street 49

The flyer also names Churchill Park, Bell Park, the Village Green and the War Memorial on its map of the precinct. The City’s rules page links a separate “Gary Holland and Village Green Map”.

Which events use the foreshore this summer?

The City’s major annual events page lists two foreshore events for 2026:

Event Date and time Location
Christmas Lights Launch Friday 4 December 2026, 5pm to 8:30pm Churchill Park, Rockingham Foreshore
New Year’s Eve Thursday 31 December 2026, 5pm to 12am Churchill Park and Bell Park, Rockingham Foreshore

The City’s Christmas Lights Launch page says more information will follow and does not give parking or transport advice. The parking rules page tells drivers to plan ahead for parking on weekends and at major events.

What does the City say about disability parking and fines?

The City says the Australian Disability Parking Permit (ADPP) can be used across the City. It must be clearly displayed on the front dashboard, with the permit number and expiry date visible. ACROD bays are marked on all the City’s parking maps.

The City’s Rangers enforce the parking local laws, and breaches of parking restrictions can attract on-the-spot fines. The City lists these tips to avoid an infringement:

  • Be aware of parking restrictions.
  • Do not leave an unhitched boat, caravan or trailer on a verge.
  • Do not park against the flow of traffic.
  • Do not park on the median strips.
  • Do not park near an intersection.
  • Do not park on a footpath or on a reserve.

The City also says driving or parking a vehicle on any beach in Rockingham is prohibited. If you use a boat ramp, the vehicle must not stay on the beach and should be moved to a parking area once it has unloaded or loaded a boat or ski.

How do I appeal a parking fine in Rockingham?

You can appeal through the City’s online infringement appeal form if you believe you have grounds. The City says that being unaware of its local laws will not be considered grounds for an appeal. For enquiries about a Ranger or local laws, call 9528 0333. Ranger Services are available seven days a week, except Christmas Day and Good Friday, between 7am and 7pm; outside those hours you can leave a message with the after-hours service on the same number, and a Ranger will be in contact the following day.

What is still to be confirmed?

  • Whether the bay counts and timings in the flyer still apply; the flyer is dated October 2024.
  • Parking and transport advice for the 4 December and 31 December events, which the City has not published.
  • The limit on each timed bay, which the text of the flyer does not give; check the sign at the bay.
