- AFLW Saturday 24 October; Australia v England T20I Tuesday 24 November
For the AFLW match between the Gold Coast Suns and Richmond on Saturday 24 October, parking at People First Stadium in Carrara is free in the precinct’s Blue Car Park, across Nerang Broadbeach Road from the stadium. For most other events the stadium says there is no public parking at all.
The AFLW day is the exception, and no extra trains or shuttle buses are planned for it. Gates open at 3:15pm and the game starts at 4:05pm. The stadium’s next listed event after that is the Australia v England T20 international on Tuesday 24 November, which has no parking or shuttle information yet.
Can I park at People First Stadium?
It depends on the event. The stadium’s event day parking page says there is no public parking on event days and that parking restrictions apply in the local area on major event days. Its getting-here page adds that for some smaller events, limited restricted parking may be made available by exception. The AFLW event page does exactly that: it says parking is available free of charge in the blue car park, opposite People First Stadium on Nerang Broadbeach Road.

On non-event days, public parking is available. Visitors are encouraged to use the Red Car Park in front of the indoor sports centre and enter via Gate 6 Service Entry using the intercom.
What’s on at the stadium soon?

How do I get there by train or bus on 24 October?
Translink’s event page for the match says People First Stadium is close to Nerang station and to bus stops on Nerang-Broadbeach Road, and lists Nerang Broadbeach Road at Lakeview Drive (Stop IDs 320145 and 319999). It says no additional trains or shuttle buses will run, so use the scheduled services in the journey planner. With a pre-purchased game ticket or a Suns membership card you can travel free on regular Citytrains (excluding Airtrain), Kinetic buses and the G:link. Translink says free travel begins at 12:05pm and concludes 4 hours after the event ends. The stadium’s own page says free travel is valid from 4 hours before the event until the last service of the day, so check the Translink page for your match.

The same Saturday is the second day of the Gold Coast 500, which has its own road closures and tram arrangements. Our Gold Coast 500 guide covers that event.
Where do the free shuttles run from for major events?
For major events the stadium, Kinetic and Translink run free shuttles for ticketholders from three Park ‘n’ Ride locations. Timings vary by event, so check the event page on What’s On.

| Location | What the stadium says |
|---|---|
| Nerang train station | Park in the main car park. Shuttles leave from the bus stop outside the station platform |
| Boowaggan Road Park ‘n’ Ride, Merrimac | Park in the main car park. Shuttles leave from the main road outside it |
| Broadbeach South tram station | Shuttles leave from the bus lane at the station (Stop ID 320864 on Translink’s list) |
Shuttles drop ticketholders at the stadium bus hub outside entry gates 1 and 3. Translink notes that shuttle services vary from event to event. For events without free shuttles, the stadium says regular Translink services still run, with the nearest bus stop a 500 metre walk from the gates.
Where do I get picked up or dropped off?
All public and private drop-off and pick-up is at the Blue Carpark, on the southern side of Nerang Broadbeach Road. On event days it is reached via Alabaster Drive or Nerang Broadbeach Road, depending on the time of day. Follow the signs and directions from traffic controllers and police. Accessible drop-off is in the Red Car Park behind the Carrara Indoor Sports Stadium, and limited accessibility parking can be bought online through Ticketek by searching “People First Stadium Blue Carpark” for the event date.

What about parking on nearby streets?
Carrara Stadium is inside a designated Traffic Area, and the City of Gold Coast says parking there is time-limited on event days. Two-minute parking applies on signed event days, and time limits apply on every street in the area. Not all streets are signed, so you are responsible for checking. The stadium strongly recommends using the free shuttles for major events. Residents with authorised permits can park locally; the stadium lists the City’s licensing and approval department on (07) 5667 5987. See the City’s People First Stadium event parking page for the boundary map.
Another Gold Coast stadium has the opposite rule: Cbus Super Stadium in Robina has no public parking at the venue at all. See our Cbus Super Stadium parking guide.
