What is happening at Caves Creek Bridge?
QLDTraffic’s notice for Caves Creek Bridge, on Nerang-Murwillumbah Road at Natural Bridge, says all lanes are affected in all directions and long delays are expected during active hours. It runs from 6:30am on Wednesday 21 October to 5:30pm on Thursday 5 November 2026 and carries the advice to allow extra travel time. What is on Springbrook Road?
| Notice | Dates | What QLDTraffic says |
|---|---|---|
| Restoration works between Neranwood and Springbrook, Gold Coast-Springbrook Road and Pine Creek Road | 11 May to 27 November 2026 | 24/7 lane closures at multiple sites; full closures on Sunday and Monday nights; multiple stop/slow points at a time; reduced speed limit of 40 km/h |
| Mudgeeraba Creek Causeway, Gold Coast-Springbrook Road, Mudgeeraba | 23 February 2026 to 26 February 2027, Monday to Friday, 6am to 6pm | Traffic is now travelling across the new causeway; 40 km/h with intermittent single lane operation |
For the Neranwood to Springbrook works, QLDTraffic says a variable message board before the Pine Creek Road turn-off is updated as the number of stop/slow points changes. It lists two time patterns, from Sunday 7am to Saturday 5pm and from Sunday 6pm to Saturday 6am. It gives the contractor’s community email for traffic alerts; check QLDTraffic’s notice for the contact details.
For the Mudgeeraba Creek Causeway, QLDTraffic says the causeway on Gold Coast-Springbrook Road is being replaced with a higher structure after damage during heavy rain associated with ex-Tropical Cyclone Alfred in March 2025. Work hours are 6am to 6pm Monday to Saturday, with Sunday and night works as required.

Should I drive to Springbrook at night?
QLDTraffic says full closures happen on Sunday and Monday nights on the Neranwood to Springbrook section, and the notice’s night pattern runs from Sunday 6pm to Saturday 6am. The notice does not say which hours on those nights the road is shut. If you plan to drive to or from Springbrook on a Sunday or Monday evening, check QLDTraffic before you set out, and allow extra time on other nights because of the lane closures.
Are the roads closed for flooding as well?
QLDTraffic also showed flood closures on 22 October at Birds Road in Maudsland and Clagiraba Road in Mount Nathan, with the advice not to drive in floodwater. Those are live hazards, not planned works, and they change by the hour, so use QLDTraffic’s map on the day.
