Parking is available 24 hours a day and is free outside those paid times. Prices on this page are as of October 2026, taken from the City’s car park page.

The City describes Alex Black as a large outdoor car park next to Fradgley Hall and Burleigh Heads Library in Ocean Street, Burleigh Heads. Its listed address is 60 Connor Street, Burleigh Heads 4220.

How much does it cost?

The City’s Alex Black Carpark page lists these rates:

Duration Price
Hourly $3.20
Daily $9.20
Weekly $42.00
Monthly $150.00
Quarterly (3 months) $427.00
Six-monthly $812.00

On those figures, three hours at the $3.20 hourly rate adds up to more than the $9.20 daily rate, so if you plan to stay 3 hours or longer, the daily rate is the cheaper choice. Likewise, five days at the daily rate add up to more than the $42.00 weekly rate.

When do I have to pay?

Fees apply between 9am and 7pm, Monday to Sunday, including public holidays and excluding Anzac Day. Parking is available 24/7 and is free outside those times. In practice that means no charge from 7pm until 9am the next morning.

The City’s page refers to a “maximum allowable parking time” at the meter but does not state what it is for this car park. Check the signs and the meter screen when you arrive.

Yes. The City sells weekly, monthly, quarterly and six-monthly digital vouchers for Alex Black through its car park page, at the prices in the table above. It also sells a multi-use voucher valid only at Alex Black, Athol Paterson, Carey, Cypress Avenue and Mal Burke car parks, at $279 a month, $793 for 3 months or $1506 for 6 months. A voucher does not guarantee a space, and it cannot be used for hire or rental vehicles being returned or left for hire or rental.

Do accessible parking permits cover the meters?

The City’s accessible parking page says people with a valid disability parking permit can park free of charge in metered parking spaces across the Gold Coast, and do not need to pay parking meter fees. It accepts permits issued by the Queensland Government, other Australian states and territories and recognised overseas governments. The City adds that where the signed time is under 30 minutes, a permit holder can park for up to 30 minutes, and where it is 30 minutes or more, they can park for as long as they need.

Those rules are written for metered spaces across the city. The Alex Black page does not say how many accessible bays the car park has or where they are, so look for signed accessible spaces on arrival. To park in one you must display a valid permit with the permit holder travelling in the vehicle, and the City warns that parking in an accessible space without a valid permit is fined. Do not park in the striped Shared Access Zone beside an accessible bay, because it gives wheelchair users room for ramps and hoists.

Can I take the tram or a bus to Burleigh Heads instead?

The G:link tram now runs to Burleigh Heads. Translink says trams run between Broadbeach South and Burleigh Heads every 7.5 minutes at peak times and every 10 to 30 minutes off-peak, according to its September notice on the bus and tram changes. Route 700 now runs between Tweed Heads and Stockland Burleigh Heads only, every 10 minutes on a set timetable, so you change to the tram to go further north. Route 777, the Gold Coast Airport express, also ends at Stockland Burleigh Heads. After midnight, route 70 replaces the trams between Burleigh Heads and Helensvale every 30 minutes until 4am, Monday to Thursday.

Translink’s notice does not say how far the station is from the Alex Black car park, so check the walk on a map. For the airport bus and the tram connection, see our guide to Gold Coast Airport to Surfers Paradise by public transport.

Is there another council car park in Burleigh Heads?

Yes. The City also runs the Gordon & Jean Duncan car park at 7 Park Avenue, Burleigh Heads, which it describes as a small outdoor car park with capacity of 1 to 49 spaces. Parking there is time-limited to 2 hours. The hourly rate is $2.10, charged between 9am and 7pm Monday to Sunday, including public holidays and excluding Anzac Day, and parking is free outside those times. The City lists accessible parking spaces and pay-by-plate meters at the site. Details are on the City’s Gordon & Jean Duncan Carpark page.

Is there a similar car park in Surfers Paradise or Southport?

The City’s Cypress Avenue car park in Surfers Paradise lists the same $3.20 hourly and $9.20 daily rates. See our guides to Cypress Avenue car park and Southport’s council car parks.
