Parking at Ipswich Hospital costs $4 for the first hour and tops out at $22 a day, but anyone who opens a parking account pays $6 a day, and the Limestone Park car park is free with a shuttle to the hospital door.
This guide uses the Ipswich Hospital parking page from West Moreton Health and the parking rates, FAQ and car park pages from the West Moreton Health Foundation (WMHF), which manages the hospital car parks. Prices are as of November 2026 and can change, so check the WMHF rates page before a long stay.

Where is the Ipswich Hospital car park?
The two multi-level car parks, called P1 and P2, are opposite the main hospital entrance on Chelmsford Avenue, Ipswich QLD 4305. West Moreton Health says general access and car parking use the main entrance on Chelmsford Avenue (Ward Block). The car parks are open 24 hours a day, 7 days a week, and have a vehicle height limit of 2.1 metres, so taller vans and roof-rack loads will not fit.
The hospital has several entrances, and the right one depends on why you are visiting.
| Where you are going | Which entrance |
|---|---|
| General access and car parking | Main entrance on Chelmsford Avenue (Ward Block) |
| Emergency department | Lane entrance on Chelmsford Avenue |
| Outpatient day clinics and allied health | Entrance on East Street (Tower Block) |
| Mental health inpatient services | Entrance on Kallara Avenue |
How much does it cost to park at Ipswich Hospital?
The WMHF casual rates are charged by how long you stay. A visit of a little under two hours falls in the $7 band, and a long afternoon of five to six hours costs $19.
| Stay duration | Casual rate |
|---|---|
| 0 – 1 hr | $4 |
| 1 – 2 hrs | $7 |
| 2 – 3 hrs | $10 |
| 3 – 4 hrs | $13 |
| 4 – 5 hrs | $16 |
| 5 – 6 hrs | $19 |
| Maximum daily | $22 |
Two other charges are on the same WMHF page. A lost ticket is charged at the maximum daily rate, which is $22. An after hours call out fee is $90. The page does not explain what triggers the call out fee, so read the WMHF parking rates page and its terms if you think you may be in the car park outside normal visiting times.
Is there a cheaper rate for regular visitors?
Yes. WMHF lists an account holder daily fee of $6. Its FAQ says anyone can open a parking account and get this rate, so it is not limited to staff or patients. For a long stay the gap is large: the $22 maximum casual rate is $16 more than the $6 account rate.
The FAQ also covers the practical details of an account:
- You can register a maximum of 3 licence plate numbers per account, but only one vehicle per account can be parked in any of the car parks at one time.
- Changes to payment details or licence plates can take up to 30 minutes to sync with the car park system before you enter.
- You can enter and leave several times within 24 hours for the one reduced daily account rate.
- If you need to park at both Ipswich Hospital and Ipswich Health Plaza in one day, the daily rate is charged only once.
- If the camera does not read your plate at entry or exit, you can use the QR code on your account dashboard, as long as the account is active with a valid credit card attached.
West Moreton Health says you can set up an account on the WMHF website. For help with setting up an account, call WMHF on 1300 736 428 or email carpark@wmhf.org.au.

I already took a ticket. Can I still get the account rate?
If you are still in the car park, yes. WMHF says to create your car park account, add a valid credit card, then contact WMHF so that your entry ticket can be cancelled before you leave. It is easier to open the account before you drive in, because plate changes take up to 30 minutes to reach the gate.
How do I pay, and what if something goes wrong?
You need to take a ticket on entry. WMHF says to insert the ticket into one of the pay machines and pay the amount shown with cash or card. The machine returns the ticket, and you scan it at the exit. You can also pay with a credit or debit card at the exit. The pay machines are on the red level of the Ipswich Hospital car park.
| Problem | What WMHF says |
|---|---|
| You cannot find a space | You are allowed 15 minutes to look for a park. If you do not find one, go to the exit and leave for no charge |
| Trouble at a pay station or exit | Press the help button (a phone icon) and wait up to 12 rings |
| You lose your ticket | Use the lost ticket button at the pay stations or exit gates; you pay the maximum daily rate |
| Your car is damaged in the car park | Lodge a police report through Police Link or at a local police station; if you need footage, request it through West Moreton Health |
Where is accessible parking, and is it discounted?
Accessible parking is on the red levels of both the P1 and P2 car parks. You must display an Australian or international disability parking permit to use these spaces. Both West Moreton Health and WMHF say that these permits do not give free or discounted parking rates; they only allow you to use the accessible spaces.
West Moreton Health lists groups who may be able to get concessional parking:
- a patient or carer who needs to go to hospital often
- people over 65 who are getting an Age Pension
- people getting a Disability Support Pension or who have a Health Care Card
- people caring for a patient who get a Carer Payment
- veterans with a Gold Card
- people dealing with financial problems or who have special needs
West Moreton Health points to a concessional parking policy and an application form, both PDFs, on its Ipswich Hospital parking and public transport page. The policy decides who is eligible, so read it before applying.

What are the other places to park near the hospital?
West Moreton Health names four alternatives to the hospital car parks.
| Option | Distance to the hospital | What the hospital page says |
|---|---|---|
| Ipswich Health Plaza car park, Bell Street | About a 10 minute walk | Multi-level car park, also run by WMHF |
| Nicholas Street Precinct car park | About a 15-minute walk | More parking is available here |
| Limestone Park car park, near Lion Street | About a 15-minute walk, or take the free shuttle bus | Free parking |
| Street parking around the hospital | Next to the hospital | Free and paid street parking, including accessible spaces for people with a permit |
For street parking, West Moreton Health refers readers to the Ipswich City Council Parking Guide. We have not read that guide for this article, so check the signs on the street and the Council guide for time limits and prices.
How does the free shuttle bus from Limestone Park work?
West Moreton Health runs free shuttle buses for patients, visitors and staff between Ipswich Hospital and the Limestone Park car park, in both directions. It operates Monday to Friday, but not on public holidays. The page lists these stops:
- Limestone Park car park
- Ipswich Hospital
- 77 East Street, on Ginn Street
- Hayden Centre
- Ipswich Community Dental Clinic
- Ipswich Health Plaza
The hospital page links to a shuttle bus brochure (a PDF) for the timetable. We have not read the brochure, so we cannot give shuttle times here. If you plan to rely on the shuttle for an early appointment, open the brochure first.

Can I park a motorcycle, and where do I drop someone off?
Motorcycle parking is signed in both car parks. At P1, the designated area is to the right after the boom gate, and you take a ticket on entry. Riders must not use the pedestrian path leading to the P1 car park. At P2, motorcycle parking is free in the designated site, which is to the left of the boom gate and before the entry to the car park. If those spots are full, West Moreton Health says to take a ticket when you enter and park in any empty car space. Motorcycles are eligible for the account holder daily rate.
For drop-off, the hospital has pick up and drop off areas at its main entrances, and you can only park there for 2 minutes. They are at East Street (Tower Block), Chelmsford Avenue (emergency entry), Chelmsford Avenue (Ward Block) and Kallara Avenue (Mental Health Inpatient Service).
Can I get to Ipswich Hospital without driving?
West Moreton Health lists these options. To plan a trip, use the Translink journey planner or call 13 12 30. For TTY, call 13 36 77 and ask for 13 12 30.
