Translink service update, last reviewed 13 October 2026

There will be no trains on the Caboolture, Redcliffe Peninsula, Shorncliffe and Sunshine Coast lines from the first service on Saturday 24 October until the last service on Sunday 25 October 2026, with timetabled railbuses running instead. Translink says normal trains start again with the first train on Monday 26 October, but the Sunshine Coast line then stays closed until the last service on Wednesday 28 October.

The information below comes from Translink’s weekend track closure notice, which was last reviewed on Tuesday 13 October 2026 at 1:58pm and was re-checked on Monday 19 October. The works are listed as general track maintenance, and the notice includes a map of the closure.

Where will the railbuses run?

Translink says railbuses will run between Bowen Hills and Eagle Junction to Gympie North, Shorncliffe and Kippa-Ring stations. They are timetabled, so use the Translink journey planner to find your fastest option for the day. Bikes and e-scooters are not allowed on railbuses.

What happens after the weekend?

Translink says the Sunshine Coast line remains closed immediately after this closure until the last service on Wednesday 28 October. Also, until Monday 2 November the railbus stop for Northgate station is temporarily on Melton Road because of roadworks.
