The Pacific Motorway (M1) is not on the Department of Transport and Main Roads’ (TMR) list of Queensland toll roads, but the Gateway and Logan motorways, which many drivers use between the Gold Coast and Brisbane or Brisbane Airport, are tolled. Car tolls on those two motorways range from $2.28 at Loganlea to $6.02 at Murarrie as of 1 July 2026, and all tolls are paid electronically, with no booths and no cash.

This guide uses TMR’s toll roads page and Linkt’s Queensland pages (toll pricing, fees and charges, and how toll roads work), checked on 19 October 2026. These sources do not map a Gold Coast to Brisbane route onto specific toll points, so we have not guessed which tolls a particular trip incurs. Use Linkt’s toll calculator to price your own route. What the sources do say is that Linkt’s Logan Motorway page lists the Pacific Motorway as an eastbound exit and a westbound entry, and its Gateway Motorway page lists Moreton Drive (Airport) as a northbound exit and a southbound entry.

Which roads charge tolls in Queensland?

TMR’s toll roads page says tolls apply to the Gateway Motorway, Logan Motorway, Clem Jones Tunnel (CLEM7), Go Between Bridge, Legacy Way, AirportLinkM7 and the Toowoomba Bypass. All Brisbane toll roads are operated by Transurban Queensland. The Gateway and Logan motorways and AirportlinkM7 operate under long-term concession agreements with the state, and CLEM7, the Go Between Bridge and Legacy Way operate under long-term agreements with Brisbane City Council.

Linkt describes the Gateway Motorway as a link between the Pacific and Bruce Highways that lets traffic bypass the Brisbane CBD, and the Logan Motorway as a connection between Logan and Ipswich that links to the Gateway Motorway.

What do the Gateway and Logan motorways cost?

Linkt’s toll pricing page lists these prices by toll point, including GST. A car is Class 2.

Toll point Motorcycle (Class 1) Car (Class 2) Light commercial (Class 3) Heavy commercial (Class 4)
Murarrie $3.02 $6.02 $9.04 $20.74
Kuraby/Compton Road $1.78 $3.55 $5.33 $12.24

Heathwood $1.87 $3.76 $5.62 $12.95
Paradise Road $1.87 $3.76 $5.62 $12.95

Linkt says all toll prices other than AirportlinkM7 are adjusted on 1 July each year, in line with the annual Brisbane Consumer Price Index. Its page on the 1 July 2026 changes is dated 17 June 2026.

What do the other Brisbane tolls cost?

Go Between Bridge $2.11 $4.22 $6.33 $12.66 peak, $11.19 off-peak

What has changed on the two motorways?

Linkt says the Logan Enhancement Project is now complete, with additional lanes, improved ramps and interchanges, and the opening of the Compton Road southbound facing ramps, which it says have reduced travel time and improved safety and efficiency. It says the Gateway Extension was built in 1997 to connect the Gateway Motorway with the Logan Motorway, and that the Gateway Motorway includes the Sir Leo Hielscher Bridges, the first of which opened in January 1986, with the duplicate bridge completed in May 2010.

What counts as a car?

Linkt’s classes are:

  • Class 1, motorcycles: two-wheeled motor vehicles, including those with a trailer, fore car or side car.
  • Class 2, cars: any motor vehicle, including taxis and vehicles towing a trailer or caravan, that is not a motorcycle or a light or heavy commercial vehicle.
  • Class 3, light commercial vehicles: two-axle rigid trucks, load carrying vans or utilities registered for commercial use, with a gross vehicle mass above 1.5 tonnes and up to 4.5 tonnes.
  • Class 4, heavy commercial vehicles: rigid trucks with 3 or more axles, articulated trucks, buses and two-axle trucks above 4.5 tonnes, among others.

How do I pay a toll?

TMR’s toll roads page, last updated 24 May 2022, says Queensland toll roads use free-flow tolling, with no toll booths, and that motorists must arrange toll payment within 3 days of travel through a toll payment provider, which in Queensland is Linkt. Linkt’s how toll roads work page says cash is not used, a picture of your licence plate is taken at the toll point and the toll is charged to your account or pass. If you have neither, the registered owner of the vehicle may receive unpaid toll notices by email, SMS or letter. It lists three options:

  • Open a Linkt account: your trips are paid automatically if you set up auto payments. You can add a tag, or travel without one.
  • Buy a pass: a pass lasts up to 30 days, suits occasional users, and adds a small fee, usually $0.55 per trip, to match your vehicle to the trip. It needs your contact details, your vehicle’s make, model and plate number, and a credit card.
  • Pay after you drive: if you drove on a toll road without an account or pass, Linkt says to open an account or buy a pass on the day you travelled or the next day, then move the trip onto it.

Linkt’s “help me choose” tool says a Tag, Tagless or Commercial account can cover trips made up to 9 days ago on all toll roads in Queensland, New South Wales and Victoria, except the Sydney Harbour Bridge and Tunnel and EastLink. TMR’s 3 days, Linkt’s day-of-travel advice and the 9-day backdating differ, so if you have already driven a toll road, act as soon as you can. TMR lists Linkt’s contact as 13 33 31. Linkt’s Queensland pages also carry a notice of a planned outage of account and payment services from 10pm Wednesday 21 to 6am Monday 26 October. The roads remain open, and Linkt says it is giving people more time to pay and crediting back any fees incurred because of the outage. Its toll pricing page shows the same outage as 11pm to 7am, so use the times on the Queensland pages.

Linkt’s fees and charges page lists these fees, which exclude the toll itself:

What if I am a visitor?

Linkt says its Tag, Tagless or Commercial accounts can be used on any compatible toll road in Australia, and its passes let you travel on any toll road in Queensland. If you need help in another language, call 13 14 50 to speak with an interpreter who can help you understand a toll notice or how to use toll roads. If you are driving on an overseas licence, our guide to driving in Queensland on an overseas licence covers the licence rules, and our guide to M1 and nearby roadworks lists current works on the roads that connect to it.
