If you take the train to the Brisbane Bullets game against the Cairns Taipans on Thursday 29 October 2026, the last trains to Boondall run before the evening track closure that starts at 7:45pm. After that, a railbus replaces trains between Northgate and Shorncliffe, and driving costs $18 a car at the venue.
This guide uses the Brisbane Entertainment Centre event page, the venue’s Getting Here, FAQs and Accessibility pages, Translink’s event transport page and its notice on evening track closures on the Shorncliffe line, all read on Monday 26 October 2026. Brisbane is on Queensland time (AEST, UTC+10), which has no daylight saving.

What time do the gates open and the game start?
Translink lists the gates opening at 5:30pm and the game starting at 7pm, and asks fans to be there before the opening tip-off. The venue’s event page gives the same 7pm start in its heading, marked “time subject to change”, but its “Event Times” line says “Ticketed start time is 6:30pm”. The pages do not explain the difference, so treat 6:30pm as the time to be in the building and check the email that the venue says goes to the registered Ticketek purchaser about 24 hours before the game.
| Time | What | Source |
|---|---|---|
| 5:30pm | Gates open | Translink |
| 6:30pm | Ticketed start time | Venue event page, “Event Times” |
| 7:00pm | Game starts (opening tip-off) | Translink; venue page heading |
| 7:45pm | Evening track closure starts on the Shorncliffe line | Translink service notice |
The game is the Hungry Jack’s Rookie Round. The venue describes it as a night celebrating grassroots basketball across Queensland, local clubs, associations and junior players, and invites young fans and families to wear their club colours.
Can I catch the train to Boondall?
Yes before 7:45pm, and with a change of vehicle after it. Boondall station is on the Shorncliffe line and the venue says it is a 600m walk from the station to the Centre. Translink’s event page lists Boondall station (Stop ID 600417) and the bus stop on Aberdeen Parade at Boondall station (Stop ID 003276) as the stops near the venue.
Translink’s notice on evening track closures says trains will not run between Northgate and Shorncliffe stations from 7:45pm on Monday 26 to Thursday 29 October, to allow testing of the new European Train Control System (ETCS). Thursday 29 October is the last evening of the October block. Boondall is one of the stations in that gap: the Shorncliffe line stations after Northgate are Bindha, Banyo, Nudgee, Boondall, North Boondall, Deagon, Sandgate and Shorncliffe, according to Translink’s earlier weekend closure notice.
| Part of the line | From 7:45pm on 29 October |
|---|---|
| Roma Street to Northgate | Shorncliffe line trains continue to run |
| Northgate to Shorncliffe (includes Boondall) | No trains; railbus R348 stops at all stations, about every 30 minutes |
Translink says to allow extra travel time and to plan closer to the travel date with its journey planner. Bikes and e-scooters are not permitted on railbuses. Until Monday 2 November the railbus stop for Northgate station is temporarily on Melton Road because of roadworks, so follow the signs there if you change at Northgate. The venue’s own page adds that, because of the finishing time of some events, some scheduled services leaving Boondall may not make connecting services.

What will the train or railbus cost?
Translink’s event page says normal tickets and fares apply, and that you need a valid contactless payment or go card to travel. It does not list free event travel for this game. Translink’s fares pages say a journey costs 50 cents regardless of distance and payment method, as of October 2026; our go card and contactless guide covers how to pay. For help, Translink’s number is 13 12 30, answered 24 hours a day.
The closure notice repeats that normal fares apply on the replacement railbuses. If you need help with station access, Translink gives Queensland Rail on 13 16 17 during business hours.
How much is parking, and where do I pay?
The venue says parking is $18.00 per visit, payable to the car park attendant on entry, card only, and that the price can change without notice. The charge applies to all vehicles, including cars, motorbikes and scooters. The venue asks you to arrive early or share a vehicle to reduce delays, and says to follow the attendants’ directions. It describes the grounds as having ample on-site parking.
| Question | What the venue says |
|---|---|
| Price | $18.00 per visit, all vehicles |
| How to pay | To the attendant on entry, card only (the venue is cashless) |
| Which roads | The Gateway Motorway and Bicentennial Road, off Sandgate Road |
| Charter buses and coaches | Parking is free; oversized vehicles pay the $18.00 rate |
| Accessible parking | Close to the accessible turnstile entrances; display a current disability parking permit; the $18.00 still applies |
The venue’s Getting Here page has links titled Driving Directions and Toll Roads and Payment Options, which we did not open, so check tolls on the way before you set off. For live road conditions, see QLDTraffic.

Where do taxis and ride-share pick up?
A taxi rank is on site beside the Ticketek Box Office, and the venue says taxis will be available after the show with a supervisor present. The ride-share pick-up and drop-off point is in Carpark 5, and the venue says to ask staff for directions. There is also a drop-off and pick-up zone inside the grounds for short stays: tell the car park attendant what you need and follow their directions.
What can I bring in?
The venue’s FAQs and conditions of entry set these rules, which apply to most events; the event page does not list a different bag policy for this game.
- Bags larger than an A4 sheet of paper are not permitted for most events. All bags are searched, and a security search and wanding take place before entry.
- One sealed 600mL plastic bottle of water per person is allowed. Other food and drink cannot be brought in.
- Signs and banners larger than an A3 sheet are not allowed.
- Professional cameras, tablets larger than 170mm, drones, selfie sticks and tripods are not allowed.
- Prams cannot go into the seating bowl; they can be stored at the free cloakroom beside the Ticketek Box Office.
- The venue is cashless. Cash can be exchanged for a Cash Card at the venue.
Everyone needs a ticket, including children, except infants aged 3 years and under who sit on the knee of a paying adult. The event page lists junior tickets for ages 4 to 17 and a Family of Four ticket made up of 2 adults and 2 juniors or 1 adult and 3 juniors. Under the venue’s conditions of entry, anyone aged 15 or under must be accompanied by an adult, and people who arrive late may not be admitted until there is a suitable break in the game. The Ticketek Box Office is open on event days and usually opens 30 minutes before the external gates, which Translink lists as 5:30pm for this game.

Which tickets are real?
The event page says tickets are on sale through Ticketek and warns against buying from unauthorised resale websites, because of the risk of invalid or fraudulent tickets. The venue’s conditions of entry also say a ticket bought at a premium or from an unauthorised seller can mean refused entry, and that buying through a reseller for more than 10% above face value can lead to prosecution. The venue says general ticketing enquiries go to Ticketek.
What help is there for accessibility?
Accessible seating is in the main seating bowl, and the venue says to say you need it when you buy tickets. Bookings go through the venue’s online accessibility form or by email to tix@brisent.com.au, which the venue says is monitored from 9am to 5pm on weekdays, so contact it before the day. Government-issued Companion Card holders get a free carer ticket if it is booked at the time of purchase, and the cardholder collects it from the Box Office on the day. Mobility aid charging stations are on Levels 1 and 2. Sunflower lanyards, used to show a hidden disability, can be collected from Administration on Level 1.
Other facilities listed in the FAQs include a Parents Room on the main concourse (Level 2) opposite Door 8, and first aid rooms opposite Doors 3 and 12 on Level 2. Patrons who need to bring medical supplies are asked to register the date they are attending by emailing bec@brisent.com.au or calling the Centre on (07) 3265 8111.

What else is coming up on the Shorncliffe line?
The same Translink notice lists further evening closures from 7:45pm: Monday 2 to Thursday 5 November, Monday 9 and Tuesday 10 November, Thursday 12 November, Monday 16 and Tuesday 17 November, Monday 23 and Tuesday 24 November, Thursday 26 November and Monday 30 November. It says the dates may change and that more may be added. Translink also lists a Brisbane Bullets game against the Perth Wildcats at Nissan Arena on 4 November, a different venue from this one.
If you are heading to a different event this week, our guides cover Brisbane Roar v Auckland FC at Suncorp Stadium on 30 October and Foo Fighters at Suncorp Stadium on 5 November.
