If you are taking the train to the Illawarra Hawks v Brisbane Bullets game at WIN Entertainment Centre on Saturday 24 October 2026, check your trip first: Transport for NSW lists planned trackwork that day, and South Coast Line trains run to a changed timetable between South Coast Line stations and Sydenham only. Doors open at 4:30pm and tip-off is at 5:30pm.

The game is NBL27 Round 6, according to the venue operator, WIN Sports and Entertainment Centres, which says tickets are on sale. This guide sets out what Transport for NSW, the venue operator and City of Wollongong have published for the evening, as checked on Friday 23 October.

Is the South Coast Line running?

Yes, but on a changed timetable. Transport for NSW’s event page says planned trackwork is taking place on Saturday 24 October and may affect how you travel to and from the event. For the South Coast Line it says trains run to a changed timetable between South Coast Line stations and Sydenham only, and to change at Sydenham for T4 Eastern Suburbs and Illawarra Line trains or metro services to continue your journey. It adds that City Circle trackwork may also affect how you travel.

That page also says trains do not run on the City Circle, or between Central and Wynyard, that day. Plan your trip in the Trip Planner or the Opal Travel app before you leave, as Transport for NSW advises.

How far is it from the station?

The closest station is Wollongong on the South Coast Line. The venue is about a 15-minute walk from the station via Burelli Street. You can also catch the free Gong Shuttle from Crown Street, which stops near the centre.

The shuttle runs routes 55A and 55C on a loop from Wollongong Station to Wollongong University via Wollongong Hospital, Burelli Street and the Innovation Campus, in both directions. On Saturdays it runs from 9am to 5.20pm every 20 minutes, so the listed hours end before the 7:30pm full time.

Regular buses stop within walking distance, along Corrimal Street and Burelli Street. Transport for NSW lists routes 3, 8, 10, 11, 31, 33, 34, 35, 37, 39, 90 and 92.

How do I pay on public transport?

You need an Opal card or a contactless card or device on public transport to and from the event, and Transport for NSW suggests registering your details online or in the Opal Travel app beforehand. Contactless payments are by tapping on and off with an American Express, Mastercard or Visa card or a linked device, and adult Opal fare pricing applies.

Where can I park?

Transport for NSW says limited parking is available close to the centre, and the venue operator says about 1,200 spaces are within a short walk of WIN Sports and Entertainment Centres. The nearby options are:

  • WIN Stadium Car Park, opposite the Sage Hotel: pay and display, with special event parking rates
  • Stewart Street Multi-Story car park
  • Stewart Street East car park: special event parking rates apply
  • Salvation Army car park, Stewart Street
  • St Francis Xavier Cathedral: limited on-site parking
  • Woolworths car park, Burelli Street

The list continues in the city centre with Market Street, the David Jones car park, Wollongong Central, Crown Central (North and South) and the Wollongong Station car park. City of Wollongong’s special events parking page recommends arriving early to park and walk, and names Stewart Street car park, Church Street on-street parking, MacCabe Park car park and George Street car park within a 5 to 15 minute walk. Our Wollongong CBD parking guide has the Council’s usual hours and rates.

What if I drive or take a taxi?

Transport for NSW says traffic will be heavier than usual on roads approaching the Wollongong CBD and around the centre as fans travel to the game. Local roads around the venue may close to help crowds move safely, so plan to arrive early to secure parking and allow extra travel time. On the freeway, it suggests the Masters Road exit to avoid congestion at Mount Ousley Road, both in and out of Wollongong. Real-time conditions are on livetraffic.com.

A taxi rank is next to the centre on the corner of Crown and Harbour Streets, with secure taxi ranks on Corrimal Street and on the corner of Crown and Kembla Streets. A drop-off zone is on Burelli Street between Harbour and Corrimal Streets.

What about accessible travel?

Transport for NSW says accessible trips are shown in the Trip Planner with the wheelchair icon, and choosing “accessible services only” in the options shows only trips with accessible train platforms, ferry wharves and buses.
