Liverpool City Council is celebrating the city’s 216th birthday from Thursday 29 October to Saturday 7 November 2026, and the main day is the free Birthday Block Party at Bigge Park on Saturday 7 November from 10am to 3pm. The council’s program also has two free heritage walks, an open day at Collingwood House, birthday story times at six libraries and a $5 film screening at Liverpool Powerhouse. This guide covers every dated event the council has published, plus how to reach Bigge Park by train and where the council’s own car parks are.

Everything below comes from Liverpool City Council’s Liverpool’s Birthday 2026 page, its parking page and the Transport for NSW page for Liverpool Station, all read on Monday 26 October 2026. Times are Sydney time (daylight saving, UTC+11).

What is on during Liverpool’s Birthday 2026, and when?

The council groups the program into six parts. Four have dates, times and places; two are still marked “details to be determined” on the council’s page. Here is every dated event in order.

Date Time Event Where Cost
Thursday 29 October 10am to 12pm Historic Liverpool Walking Tour Old Liverpool Courthouse, 150 George Street Free, ticket required
Sunday 1 November 2pm Screening of Whatever Happened to Green Valley? Liverpool Powerhouse, 1 Powerhouse Road, Casula $5.00
Tuesday 3 November 10am to 11:30am “Who lies beneath?” Liverpool Pioneers Memorial Park Cemetery Tour Liverpool Pioneers’ Memorial Park, 1/51 Macquarie Street Free, ticket required
Tuesday 3 to Friday 6 November 10am or 11am Birthday story times at six libraries See the library table below Not stated on the council’s page
Thursday 5 November 10am to 2pm Collingwood House Open Day Collingwood House, 13 Birkdale Crescent Not stated; refreshments for purchase
Saturday 7 November 10am to 3pm Liverpool’s Birthday Block Party Bigge Park, 124 Bigge Street Free entry

The council’s page describes the program as “a packed program of events, activities and family fun”, and says it includes “stunning projections lighting up the CBD”. The projections belong to the “Light Up Liverpool” section, which the page lists with no dates yet, so this guide does not give a time for them.

What happens at the Birthday Block Party on Saturday 7 November?

The Block Party runs from 10am to 3pm at Bigge Park, 124 Bigge Street, Liverpool, and entry is free. The council lists these free, family-friendly activities:

  • amusement rides
  • inflatables
  • face painting
  • garden games
  • live acoustic entertainment
  • food trucks
  • children’s activities
  • community stalls
  • a ceremonial birthday cake cutting

The council adds “and much more” after that list, so more may be announced. It has not published a stage line-up, a time for the cake cutting or a wet-weather plan, which is why those items sit under “not yet confirmed” above. Food trucks are listed as part of the free activations, but the council does not say whether the food itself is free, so bring money for lunch in case it is not.

How do I get to Bigge Park by train?

Liverpool Station is on Bigge Street, the same street as the park. Transport for NSW lists these routes from the station: T2 (Parramatta or Leppington to the City), T3 (the City to Liverpool or Lidcombe) and T5 (Richmond to Leppington), plus 61 more routes, most of them bus services. The council has not given a walking time from the station to the park, so use the Trip Planner or a map app for the exact walk.

Transport for NSW says a 30% off-peak discount applies on Fridays, weekends and public holidays, so a Saturday trip on 7 November is charged at off-peak rates. It does not apply to Opal single tickets, and the fare is worked out from the time you tap on. The station is staffed 24 hours a day, including weekends, and has lifts, an escalator and step-free access. Its listed facilities include toilets, a baby change table, a taxi rank, a kiss and ride stopping area and bike lockers.

Liverpool Station fact What Transport for NSW says
Address Bigge Street, Liverpool
Staffed hours 24 hours on weekdays, weekends and public holidays
Accessibility Independent access, lift, escalator, stairs, platform tactiles
Drop-off Kiss and ride stopping area and a taxi rank
Weekend fares 30% off-peak discount on weekends (not on Opal single tickets)

Weekend trackwork can change which trains stop at Liverpool. Check the Transport for NSW alerts page in the days before you go. Transport for NSW’s own event pages carry advice for big events, but the council has not published a transport page for the Block Party.

Where can I park near the Block Party?

The council’s parking page says there are nearly 5,000 car spaces in or near the city centre, from free to low-cost and from short stay to long stay. It names two car parks that matter for this event.

Car park Cost and limit Hours
Civic Place car park (also serves Yellamundie Library and Art Gallery) First 3 hours free, then $6 (3 to 3.5 hours), $12 (3.5 to 4), $15 (4 to 4.5), $20 (4.5 to 5), $30 (5 hours or more); paid by credit card only at the exit gate Saturday 8.30am to 5.30pm
68 Speed Street Free 24 hours a day, seven days a week, with a two-hour limit from 4pm to 10pm; 78 spaces Open 24 hours

Entry to Civic Place car park has changed. The council says public access now goes through Terminus Street and there is no public access from Scott Street. It also says parking limits there will be introduced “soon”, so read the signs at the entrance. The council says it is bringing in Pay By Plate in the CBD: you enter your number plate at the meter and then pay as normal by cash or card, and no ticket is printed. If you plan to stay at the park from 10am to 3pm and visit the Yellamundie Library as well, the three free hours at Civic Place will not cover the full five-hour event, so budget for the charges in the table.

For car park questions after hours, the council gives 1300 362170 on its parking page.

Are the heritage tours free, and how do I book?

Both tours are free, but the council says a ticket is required. The event page links each tour to its own booking page, so book from there rather than turning up on the day.

  • Historic Liverpool Walking Tour: Thursday 29 October, 10am to 12pm. It starts at the Old Liverpool Courthouse, 150 George Street, Liverpool.
  • “Who lies beneath?” cemetery tour: Tuesday 3 November, 10am to 11:30am, at Liverpool Pioneers’ Memorial Park, 1/51 Macquarie Street, Liverpool.

What is the Collingwood House Open Day?

Collingwood House, 13 Birkdale Crescent, Liverpool, opens on Thursday 5 November from 10am to 2pm. The council says visitors can explore the house with a guided tour and a performance by storyteller Jo Henwood. A complimentary afternoon tea is offered, and refreshments are available for purchase. The council’s page does not say whether the open day is free or needs a booking, and it links to a separate “Historic Collingwood House Tour” page, so check that link before you go.

When are the birthday story times at the libraries?

The council’s event page lists birthday-themed story time sessions at six libraries between Tuesday 3 and Friday 6 November. It does not give an age range.

Library Day Time
Green Valley Library Tuesday 3 November 10am
Miller Library Tuesday 3 November 11am
Moorebank Library Wednesday 4 November 10am
Liverpool Library Wednesday 4 November 11am
Carnes Hill Library Thursday 5 November 10am
Casula Library Friday 6 November 10am

The council’s parking page says the Civic Place car park also serves the Yellamundie Library and Art Gallery. The council’s event page does not say which library that is, so check the address of your session before you drive.

How much is the film screening at Liverpool Powerhouse?

The screening of Whatever Happened to Green Valley? is at 2pm on Sunday 1 November at Liverpool Powerhouse, 1 Powerhouse Road, Casula. Tickets are $5.00 according to the council. Casula is a separate trip from the city centre, so allow for that if you are also planning a birthday event in Liverpool on the same weekend.

What is still to be announced?

Two parts of the program carry no details yet. The council’s page lists “Battle of Beersheba” and “Enjoy at your own leisure or Light Up Liverpool” and says “Details to be determined” under both. The first paragraph of the page mentions projections lighting up the CBD, but no start time, location or end date is given. This page will be updated if the council adds details.

What should I know before I go?

  • The Block Party is on Saturday 7 November, 10am to 3pm, at Bigge Park, 124 Bigge Street. Entry is free.
  • Both heritage tours need a free ticket, so book first.
  • Take the train to Liverpool Station on Bigge Street; weekend fares are 30% off-peak.
  • If you drive, Civic Place car park is open 8.30am to 5.30pm on Saturdays and gives three free hours. 68 Speed Street is free all day, with a two-hour limit from 4pm.
  • Check the council’s page on the day, because the council has not published a rain plan.
