For Hans Zimmer at Afterpay Arena on Wednesday 28 and Thursday 29 October 2026, Transport for NSW says the closest station is Olympic Park, and that a direct train runs from Lidcombe’s Platform Zero every 10 minutes until late. Doors open at 6pm, the show starts at 7:30pm and it finishes at 10:30pm each night. Sydney is on daylight saving time (AEDT) in October, so all times here are Sydney time.

This guide is based on the Transport for NSW event page, read on 26 October 2026. The venue’s own websites returned an access error when we tried them, so everything about travel comes from Transport for NSW.

Which train do I catch to Olympic Park?

The closest station to Afterpay Arena is Olympic Park. Trains run regularly to Lidcombe, where you walk to Platform Zero for a direct train to Olympic Park. Transport for NSW says these run every 10 minutes until late. It adds two extra trains to help you get to the show:

Leaves Time Stops
Blacktown 5:34pm Parramatta, Lidcombe, then Olympic Park
Liverpool 5:45pm Cabramatta, Fairfield, Granville, Lidcombe, then Olympic Park

If you are coming by Sydney Metro, the page says the M1 line runs turn-up-and-go services between Tallawong, Chatswood and Sydenham from early morning until late. Change at Epping or Central for trains towards Lidcombe, then Olympic Park. From the light rail, change at Central for trains to Lidcombe then Olympic Park; on the L4 line, alight at Parramatta Square and connect with a train towards Lidcombe from Parramatta station.

Do I need an Opal card?

Yes, or a contactless card or device. Transport for NSW says you need to use an Opal card or contactless payment card or device on public transport to and from the event, and suggests registering your details online or in the Opal Travel app ahead of time. With a contactless American Express, Mastercard or Visa debit or credit card, or a linked device, you tap on and tap off at Opal readers. Adult Opal fare pricing applies, and you get Opal benefits, including daily and weekly fare caps. Our Opal fares guide covers the prices.

Will trackwork affect my trip home?

Probably, if you travel after 9:50pm. Transport for NSW lists planned trackwork on Wednesday 28 and Thursday 29 October. Most entries start around the time the show ends, so check the Trip Planner before you leave the arena:

T1 Western Wednesday, 10:50pm to 1:30am Most trains make extra stops at Homebush and Burwood.
T2 Leppington and Inner West Wednesday, 10:30pm to 1:30am Inner West trains run between Ashfield and the City Circle only. Leppington trains do not stop at Ashfield or Newtown. You may need to change trains.
T3 Liverpool and Inner West Wednesday, 10:20pm to 1:30am Changed timetable between Liverpool and Lidcombe only; change at Lidcombe. Inner West trains run between Ashfield and the City Circle.

For the T4 and South Coast closures, the page suggests changing at Sydenham or Central for metro to Martin Place, at Central for buses to Kings Cross and Edgecliff, or at Town Hall for express buses to Bondi Junction. If you have luggage or accessibility needs and are going to Wolli Creek, it suggests changing at Central for a T8 Airport train.

Which buses and ferries run to Olympic Park?

Transport for NSW lists three route buses towards Olympic Park:

  • Route 525 runs between Parramatta and Lidcombe. Connect with trains to continue to Olympic Park.
  • Route 526 runs between Strathfield and Rhodes Shopping Centre via the Sydney Olympic Park precinct and wharf.
  • Route 533 runs between Sydney Olympic Park and Chatswood via Rhodes and North Ryde.

The closest ferry stop is Sydney Olympic Park Wharf, with the connecting 526 bus to the venue, or a walk the page puts at about 40 minutes (3.6km). F3 Parramatta River ferries run regularly to Olympic Park but are very popular and may reach capacity. The page also warns that F3 ferries may be affected by low tide between Parramatta and Rydalmere and replaced by buses.

Can I park at Sydney Olympic Park?

Yes, with a booking. Transport for NSW says to pre-book parking online, available until 11:59pm the night before the event unless sold out earlier, and that a flat rate of $40 applies. If you have pre-booked, follow staff directions and have your parking ticket ready at the car park entry. If you have not, follow the variable message signs in Sydney Olympic Park to the best available casual parking. The page suggests carpooling with your group and allowing plenty of extra travel time.

Traffic will be heavier than usual on roads approaching the precinct during the busy evening peak. The page names the M4, Parramatta Road, Homebush Bay Drive and Concord Road for extra travel time. For live conditions, use Live Traffic NSW.

Where do taxis and rideshare go, and which roads close?

The nearest taxi rank is on Herb Elliott Avenue near the Pullman Hotel. Transport for NSW says roads may be closed within the precinct, and asks you to allow plenty of extra time for the extra traffic before and after the event. When you leave, it suggests choosing a pick-up location away from the immediate area around the stadium to avoid delays.

Sydney Olympic Park Authority will close some local roads to make room for extra public transport and to keep pedestrians safe. The page does not list the streets; it points to the Sydney Olympic Park interactive map. We have not seen that map’s closure list, so check it before you drive or book a ride.

Is there accessible travel?

Transport for NSW says accessible trips are shown in the Trip Planner with the wheelchair icon. Choose “accessible services only” in the options and the planner shows only trips with accessible train platforms, ferry wharves and buses. The page links to its accessible travel information and to a list of transport apps with an accessibility filter.
