Wyndham City’s Halloween Movie in the Park is free and needs no booking: on Saturday 31 October 2026, popcorn and entertainment start at 5pm at Powell Reserve in Hoppers Junction, Hoppers Crossing, and the movie, Hotel Transylvania, starts at 6pm. This guide pulls together the council’s event page and its Movies in the Park page, checked on 26 October 2026: what time to arrive, how to get there, where to park, what you can and cannot bring, and what happens if it rains.

What time does the Halloween movie night start?

The council’s event page lists the session as 5pm to 8pm on Saturday 31 October. Free popcorn and entertainment begin at 5pm, and the movie starts at 6pm. The council’s Movies in the Park page says the same for every session in the series: arrive at 5pm for the free entertainment and popcorn, then settle in for the film at 6pm.

Time What the council says
5:00pm Free popcorn and entertainment begin
6:00pm Movie starts (Hotel Transylvania)
8:00pm Listed end of the session

The event page says to come dressed in your best Halloween costume, so costumes are encouraged. The organiser is Wyndham City’s Placemaking and Activations team, and entry is listed as free. These are Melbourne times, which are on daylight saving at this time of year.

Where exactly is Powell Reserve, and how do I get there by train?

The event page gives the location as Powell Reserve, Hoppers Junction, Powell Drive, Hoppers Crossing. The Movies in the Park page says that Hoppers Junction is just a few minutes’ walk from Hoppers Crossing Train Station, and that it can be reached by train or bus. It does not give a distance in metres or name a bus route for this venue, so check a journey planner for your trip on the night. Our own myki fares guide explains what a trip costs.

The Victorian Government’s Level Crossing Removal Project, which removed the Old Geelong Road level crossing, describes the station precinct in a news item about the station car parks reopening, published 23 June 2022. It says the project built landscaped plazas with secure bike parking, drop-off areas and pedestrian and cyclist path connections. It also says the Hoppers Junction car park was upgraded for easier access to the shops. It is background from 2022, not a current description of the layout.

Where do I park for the Halloween movie?

Wyndham City says there is plenty of free parking close by each venue, and asks you to check local parking signs for restrictions. The council does not name a particular car park for the Hoppers Junction session, so read the signs where you stop. The same page lists the other ways in: the train, or, for the series’ Mambourin session only, bus routes 192 or 194.

Hoppers Junction also has dinner options from nearby businesses, according to the event page, which suggests picking up takeaway before the movie. The council says the same in its Movies in the Park FAQ: you can bring your own picnic, and it encourages you to buy takeaway from local cafes and eateries to eat while watching the film.

What should I bring, and what is not allowed?

The event page encourages you to bring your own picnic blanket or chairs. The FAQ adds that if you bring chairs, you may be asked to move to the back or side of the viewing area for the comfort of others, and that tables, umbrellas and marquees are not permitted. It suggests sunscreen, a hat and water, because it may be warm when the movie starts, and extra layers because the park gets cooler after dark.

The council’s conditions of entry for the series add these rules:

  • Alcohol and smoking are not permitted.
  • Bringing your own food is permitted.
  • Children must be supervised by a parent or guardian at all times.
  • Live streaming or broadcasting is not permitted, and commercial photography needs the council’s permission first.
  • Attendees may not sell or hire items, or hand out advertising material, without the council’s permission.
  • You are responsible for your own belongings and should not leave them unattended.
  • The council says photos and video may be taken at the event, including crowd shots, and says to speak to the photographer or a council staff member if you do not want your or your child’s photo taken.

Can I bring my dog?

The council’s pages do not agree, so check on the night. The FAQ says that, for the comfort of all attendees, the council does not recommend bringing your dog, and that service animals are welcome. The conditions of entry on the same page say dogs are permitted if they are on a lead and supervised by their owner at all times, and that owners must pick up after them. Assistance animals certified by a registered authority are welcome under the accessibility answer. If you are unsure, ask a council staff member at the event.

Is it accessible, and are there toilets?

The council says each location has a flat surface with accessible entry, and that the movie will feature closed captions. Portable toilets will be provided at the event. For any other question, the council lists placemaking@wyndham.vic.gov.au, or you can call Wyndham City on 1300 023 411.

What if it rains?

This is an outdoor event, and the council says movies may be cancelled or rescheduled because of poor weather. It says it will monitor conditions in the lead-up, and that if extreme weather is forecast, updates will go on the Wyndham City website and its Facebook page. The event page also points to the council’s Instagram account for updates. The council does not publish a wet-weather venue or a cut-off time for the decision, so check those pages before you leave home.

What else is in the Movies in the Park series?

Hoppers Junction is the first of five sessions listed on the council’s series page. All are free, 5pm to 8pm, with the movie at 6pm.
