Whitehorse City Council lists seven Halloween events across Friday 30 and Saturday 31 October 2026, and four of them are free community events with no booking: Shop Local, Scare Local in Mitcham, the Halloween Pet Parade, Halloween at Mont Albert Village and the Schwerkolt Trick or Treat Trail. The Aqualink retail sale is also free to take part in and needs no booking. The Spooky Comedy night at The Round costs from $29 and the after-hours tour of Schwerkolt Cottage costs $9. All times here are Melbourne time, which is on daylight saving (UTC+11) in October.
This guide uses the council’s Spooky Season page, the individual event listings, and the Creative Whitehorse and The Round pages behind them, all checked on 26 October 2026.

The council’s Spooky Season page runs from 21 to 31 October 2026. The listings showing on 26 October are the seven below. The council’s introduction also mentions a disco and craft sessions, which are not listed with dates on 26 October, so they are not covered here.

What can I do on Saturday morning in Mitcham?
Two free events share Britannia Mall in Mitcham. Halloween Shop Local, Scare Local runs from 10am to 12 noon. The council’s listing describes it as a hunt with crafts and stamp collecting, with a chance to enter to win, thanks to Woolworths Mitcham. It is open to all ages and needs no booking.
The Halloween Pet Parade by Petstock starts at 11:30am at the same mall, and the council says it is part of the Shop Local, Scare Local event. Bring your pet along; the listing gives no rules about animal type, costumes or leads, so ask on the day if you are unsure. Both events are free and open to all ages.

Is there a free Halloween event in Mont Albert?
Yes. Halloween at Mont Albert Village runs on Saturday 31 October from 11am to 2pm on Hamilton Street. The council says visitors are invited to dress up in their spookiest or most creative costume for a trick or treat adventure around the village, with chocolates and lollies, free donuts from a local trader, Halloween-themed photo boards and giant inflatable characters. It is free for all ages and needs no booking. The council also asks visitors to support the local traders while they are there.

What is the Schwerkolt trail, and who is it for?
The Schwerkolt Trick or Treat Trail is on Saturday 31 October from 1pm to 4pm at Schwerkolt Cottage and Museum Complex, Deep Creek Road, Mitcham. Creative Whitehorse says children follow a news story trail around the buildings and parklands, including the report of the ghost of August Schwerkolt. Find all the stories and each child receives a treat. Wearing a Halloween costume is encouraged.
It is free, and bookings are not required. One detail differs between the two council pages: the Whitehorse City Council listing says the age range is 4 to 6 years, while the Creative Whitehorse page lists the audience as children and family without an age. If your child is outside that range, ask Creative Whitehorse before you go.
The council says the cottage complex is open on Saturdays and Sundays from 1pm to 4pm and on public holidays, and that it sits on 2.25 hectares of bushland next to Yarran Dheran in Mitcham. The council describes it as a historic museum complex, established in 1884, and says the grounds include walking tracks, a cottage garden, a barbecue area and a family playground.
How do I get a place on the Locks and Chains Tour?
The Halloween Locks and Chains Tour is the one event in the list that needs a booking. It runs on Saturday 31 October from 5pm to 6pm at Schwerkolt Cottage and Museum Complex and costs $9. The council says it is designed for adults, and the Creative Whitehorse page says places are limited and bookings are essential. Booked participants meet at the Cottage building.
Your guide takes the chains and padlocks off after hours so you can look inside the buildings. Creative Whitehorse asks you to bring your own torch if you want to see more of the dark corners, such as the underground wine cellar. On 26 October the Creative Whitehorse page showed a “Join the waitlist” button rather than a booking button, which suggests the session may already be full. Check the page, and the council’s booking site, before you plan your evening around it.

What is the Spooky Comedy night at The Round?
Spooky Comedy is on Friday 30 October at 8pm in The Round’s Studio and runs for about 75 minutes with no interval. The Round describes it as a Halloween edition of Comedy at The Round, headlined by Lawrence Leung and curated by Janet A McLeod. Tegan Higginbotham hosts, the sketch trio Watson performs, and Gavin Baskerville has a bonus set. Costumes are encouraged.
| Ticket | Price |
|---|---|
| Full | $32 |
| Concession | $29 |
| 30 and under | $30 |
A $4 transaction fee applies to online and phone bookings, charged per transaction rather than per ticket, and there is no fee at the box office. The show is suitable for ages 15 and over, with occasional mild language and moderate adult themes. Concession covers Senior Card, Government Concession Card and full-time students aged 15 and over with valid ID. Phone bookings are open Monday to Friday 10am to 4pm on (03) 9262 6555.
How do I get to The Round, and can I park?
The Round is at 379-399 Whitehorse Road, Nunawading, just behind the Civic Centre. By public transport, The Round says the closest bus stop is McCulloch Street/Whitehorse Road on route 901, and that Nunawading Station can be reached by routes 273, 902 and 735. Nunawading Station is on the Belgrave and Lilydale line, about 1km or a 10-minute walk away. The Round advises checking for schedule changes or disruptions before you travel, and links the Public Transport Victoria journey planner.
The Round says most parking spaces on site are free and open 24 hours, although some spaces follow specific hours and restrictions, so read the signs because fines may apply. When the main car parks fill, nearby Walker Park provides extra parking connected by lit, accessible walkways. The Round suggests arriving early, and accessible spaces are near the entrance with a valid permit displayed.

Is the Aqualink sale worth a visit?
The Aqualink Spooky Savings Sale takes 30% off retail products on Friday 30 and Saturday 31 October only. The council says it is in store only, no further discounts apply, bookings are not required and it is open to all shoppers. It applies at both Aqualink Box Hill and Aqualink Nunawading. The council’s page does not list which products are included or the centres’ opening hours, so check the Aqualink site before you go.
Where can I find transport details for Mitcham or Mont Albert?
The council’s Mitcham and Mont Albert listings give the place and time but no travel directions, and parking details for those two events are not published on the pages we read. The Round’s advice to use the Public Transport Victoria journey planner applies to any trip. The Schwerkolt pages list accessible parking and public transport among the venue’s access features without naming stops, so check with Creative Whitehorse if you need accessibility details.
