Translink lists nine park ‘n’ ride car parks at eight Gold Coast train and light rail stations, with approximate space counts that range from 380 at Pimpama to 1,302 at Helensvale. Helensvale has the most spaces, in the Queensland Rail car park, and Robina has 950. Translink’s parking page does not give a fee for these car parks, so check the signs at the station. All figures are as of 18 October 2026, taken from Translink’s parking page.

Translink says a vehicle may be parked at a park ‘n’ ride from first until last service. If it stays parked and unmoved for an extended period of days, it may be treated as abandoned and the authorities contacted. Stations can also close for upgrades and other works, so check Translink’s service updates before you leave home.

How many park ‘n’ ride spaces does each Gold Coast station have?

These are the Gold Coast station car parks on Translink’s list, with the train stations in order from north to south and the Parkwood G:link station last, with the approximate number of spaces Translink gives:

Station Address on Translink’s list Approximate spaces
Ormeau station (Pimpama) 200 Mirambeena Drive, Pimpama 4209 435
Pimpama station Old Pacific Highway, Pimpama 4209 380
Coomera station Railway Reserve, 11 Foxwell Road, Coomera 4209 600

Hope Island station, which also has a platform on the line, is not in Translink’s parking table, so we cannot give a space count for it. Translink also lists park ‘n’ rides north of the Gold Coast, including Beenleigh with 410 spaces and Loganlea with 250.

Which station is best if I am driving to Brisbane?

Pick the station that is closest to your home and has the most room. On Monday 19 October, Translink’s timetable showed a train leaving Central at 10:29am reaching Pimpama at 11:30am, Coomera at 11:34am, Helensvale at 11:41am, Nerang at 11:45am, Robina at 11:51am and Varsity Lakes at 11:55am. Our guide to the Gold Coast to Brisbane train has the full times and fares. A trip is 50 cents on Translink’s flat fare, according to Translink.

The two Helensvale car parks serve different things. The Queensland Rail car park on Town Centre Drive has 1,302 spaces. The Light Rail car park on Country Club Drive has 400 spaces and is named for the G:link tram. If you are going to Surfers Paradise, Broadbeach or Gold Coast University Hospital, see our guide to G:link fares and how to pay.

Have any car parks been enlarged recently?

Queensland Rail’s park ‘n’ ride program page lists new spaces delivered or planned at several Gold Coast stations. It says Coomera station gained 500 or more new spaces, Ormeau station gained 125 and Varsity Lakes station gained 350, all shown as completed. It lists 50 more spaces at Altandi station, which is on the line between Brisbane and the Gold Coast, as still in planning. Translink’s table counts are the better guide to the total number of spaces, because the program page lists only the new ones.

Who manages the car parks?

Translink says train station car parks are managed by Queensland Rail. Some bus and ferry terminals have car parks managed by Brisbane City Council. Check the parking page and the signs at the station for conditions.

What if the station is closed or the tram is replaced by buses?

Track closures and works change services. See our guides to the late-night track closures on 26 and 27 October and the November evening tram closures between Helensvale and Gold Coast University Hospital, which replace trams with buses from 7:30pm on some nights.

What about parking at Gold Coast Airport?

Gold Coast Airport has its own car parks and rates. See our guide to Gold Coast Airport parking. Translink says route 760 connects the airport to Varsity Lakes train station, and route 777 runs between the airport and Stockland Burleigh Heads, where you change to the G:link.
