Translink 13 12 30

If you hold a pre-purchased ticket to the Supercars Gold Coast 500, Translink says you can travel free to and from the race on all regular Queensland Rail City Network trains, Kinetic Gold Coast bus services and G: services, excluding Airtrain. The free travel runs from the first service until the last service on the date printed on your event ticket.

The race is at Surfers Paradise from Friday 23 to Sunday 25 October 2026. This article sets out what Translink’s event transport page says, as checked on Saturday 17 October.

What exactly is free with a race ticket?

Service Free with a pre-purchased event ticket?
Queensland Rail City Network trains (regular services) Yes
Kinetic Gold Coast buses Yes
G: services (the G:link tram) Yes
Airtrain No

The wording is “pre-purchased event ticket”, so keep your ticket with you and check that it is for the day you travel. Free travel follows the date printed on the ticket, so check that date matches the day you travel.

How often will the trams run?

Translink says normal G:link timetables will run all weekend, with higher frequencies at these times:

Day Time Frequency
Friday 23 October 7pm to 8pm Every 10 minutes
Saturday 24 October 8am to 4pm Every 7.5 minutes
Saturday 24 October 4pm to 7:30pm Every 6.5 minutes
Saturday 24 October 7:30pm to 9:30pm Every 10 minutes
Sunday 25 October 8am to 6pm Every 7.5 minutes
Sunday 25 October 6pm to 8:30pm Every 10 minutes

Saturday afternoon and early evening has the most frequent service, with a tram every 6.5 minutes from 4pm to 7:30pm. The page does not list extra services outside these times, so the normal timetable applies then.

Which stations are closest to the circuit?

Translink’s map marks two tram stations beside the Gold Coast Street Circuit: Main Beach station (Stop ID 600816) and Surfers Paradise North station (Stop ID 600814). Use the journey planner for the tram and bus services that go to and from Main Beach. Our Gold Coast 500 parking and public transport guide has walking distances to the gates and the park and ride sites.

Which bus stops have changed?

Translink lists five areas with bus diversions and changed stops. The dates differ, so check the service notice for the area you use:

Area Dates
Ferny Avenue, Surfers Paradise Sunday 18 October to 5am Tuesday 27 October
Main Beach Parade, Main Beach Tuesday 13 October to Tuesday 3 November
Main Beach station, Surfers Paradise Thursday 17 September to Tuesday 3 November
Ocean Avenue, Surfers Paradise Tuesday 29 September to Friday 30 October
Tedder Avenue, Main Beach 6pm Sunday 18 October to 5am Tuesday 27 October

The event page’s map also shows a temporary stop on the Gold Coast Highway near Rankin Parade, and the page does not say which routes use it. Our article on the Gold Coast 500 bus stop closures sets out the closed stops and alternatives by route and date.

Are trains on other lines affected that weekend?

Yes, if you are travelling from the north of Brisbane. Translink lists a weekend track closure on the Caboolture, Redcliffe Peninsula, Shorncliffe and Sunshine Coast lines on Saturday 24 and Sunday 25 October, with timetabled railbuses replacing trains. The page does not list any closure on the Gold Coast line for race weekend. Our Gold Coast 500 road closures article covers the roads around the circuit.

What if I do not have a race ticket?

The event page does not give a fare for travellers without an event ticket, so check the fare in the journey planner before you go. For questions about tickets and services, call Translink on 13 12 30.
