How much is parking at Currumbin Wildlife Sanctuary?

The sanctuary’s location and parking page says its dedicated car park charges $10 per car for all-day parking. All proceeds directly support Currumbin Wildlife Sanctuary and Currumbin Wildlife Hospital. The page also says there is some 2-hour street parking available. The sanctuary’s FAQ describes the car park as a large car park opposite the main entrance on Tomewin Street.

What are the accessible parking arrangements?

According to the sanctuary’s accessibility information, as at January 2025, eight reserved accessible parking spaces with shared areas are available in the car park close to the entrance, and car park fees may apply. The car park is well lit and has security camera monitoring. There is clear and level access from the car park to the entrance, with a signed pedestrian crossing. Two further Council accessible spaces are on Tomewin Street, but the sanctuary says they do not have level access or wide berth areas next to them.
The sanctuary says there is no car park attendant on duty during Astra Lumina, its night-time experience. Astra Lumina runs on Fridays and Saturdays, with extra days during school holidays, and the trail opens once the last light has faded, with doors opening an hour earlier. Check the sanctuary’s event page for parking on those nights.
How do I drive to Currumbin Wildlife Sanctuary?

The sanctuary gives these directions, all ending at Tomewin Street in Currumbin:
- Travelling north on the Pacific Motorway (M1): take exit 95 for Stewart Road towards Currumbin and Tugun. Continue to the end, take a sharp left onto the Gold Coast Highway, follow it into Currumbin and turn right onto Tomewin Street at the lights.
- Travelling south on the Pacific Motorway: exit onto Tugun and Currumbin Road, continue to the end and take a sharp left onto the Gold Coast Highway. Follow it into Currumbin and turn right onto Tomewin Street at the lights.

- From the north on the Gold Coast Highway: follow the highway south all the way to Tomewin Street in Currumbin.
Can I get there by bus, taxi or rideshare?

Yes. The sanctuary says Translink bus services stop directly out the front, and it links to Translink’s journey planner for timetables. A taxi rank is directly in front of the sanctuary entrance. Rideshare pick-up and set-down can be accommodated along Tomewin Street and Teemangum Street. Bicycle and e-bike parking is to the right of the Sanctuary Gifts shop and next to the accessible parking spaces in the car park.
For Gold Coast bus and tram changes, see our guide to the Gold Coast to Brisbane train. The sanctuary does not name which bus routes stop outside, so use the journey planner.
What can I bring in, and what if it rains?

You can bring your own pram or wheelchair into the sanctuary. Scooters, bikes and skateboards are not allowed inside. The sanctuary stays open in light rain. In severe weather it may close in the interest of guest, animal and staff safety, and it says it will inform ticket holders if it has to close. Some activities and presentations may be delayed or cancelled in wet weather.
The lorikeet feeding is held daily at 8am and 4pm at the Lorikeet Arena, with no booking or entry ticket needed. You reach it through the main entrance or the gift shop next to it, and gold coin donations are welcome. Because the car park opens at 7:30am, you can arrive in time for the 8am feeding.
Is there other free parking nearby?
The sanctuary’s street parking is limited to 2 hours. For free beach car parks elsewhere on the southern Gold Coast, see our guides to the Roughton Park car parks at Kirra and the Tallebudgera Creek car park.
