For the AFLW match between the Gold Coast Suns and Richmond on Saturday 24 October, parking at People First Stadium in Carrara is free in the Blue Car Park, but there will be no extra trains and no event shuttle buses. Gates open at 3:15pm and the game starts at 4:05pm.

With a pre-purchased game ticket or a Suns membership card, travel on regular trains, Kinetic buses and the G:link is free from 12:05pm. The stadium describes this as the final AFLW match at People First Stadium for the 2026 season.

Where do I park for the AFLW match?

The stadium’s event page says that for AFLW events, parking is available free of charge in the precinct’s Blue Car Park, on the opposite side of Nerang Broadbeach Road from People First Stadium. That is different from bigger events: the stadium’s general rule is that there is no public parking on event days, and for those events it runs free Park ‘n’ Ride shuttles instead. Our People First Stadium parking guide explains the rules for each type of event.

The event page does not give a number of spaces or say how early the car park fills. Streets around the stadium are inside the City of Gold Coast’s Carrara Stadium Traffic Area, where two-minute parking applies on signed event days, so do not leave a car on a side street without checking the signs.

Are there shuttle buses or extra trains?

No. Translink’s event page says no additional trains or shuttle buses will run for this event and tells fans to use scheduled services. The stadium’s event page also says dedicated event shuttles do not run for AFLW events, only regular public transport. The free Park ‘n’ Ride shuttles from Nerang station, Boowaggan Road and Broadbeach South tram station that run for major events are not part of the plan for this match.

Translink says People First Stadium is close to Nerang station and to bus stops on Nerang-Broadbeach Road. It does not give a walking time. Use the Translink journey planner to find the bus or train that suits your start point, and call 13 12 30 for help.

Translink says free travel concludes 4 hours after the event ends. The stadium’s general page says free travel is valid from 4 hours before an event until the last service of the day, so for this match use Translink’s times. Free travel covers regular Citytrains (excluding Airtrain), Kinetic buses and the G:link, and you need a pre-purchased game ticket or a Suns membership card.

Are any train lines closed that day?

Translink lists a weekend track closure on 24 and 25 October for the Caboolture, Redcliffe Peninsula, Shorncliffe and Sunshine Coast lines, with timetabled railbuses replacing trains. That affects fans travelling from the north of Brisbane. Queensland Rail’s 12-month calendar lists no works on the Gold Coast line for 24 October, but check the journey planner before you leave. Our earlier guide to the Gold Coast line closure covers the weekend before.

Is the Gold Coast 500 on the same day?

Yes. Saturday 24 October is the second race day of the Gold Coast 500 at Main Beach and Surfers Paradise, which has its own road closures and tram arrangements. Our Gold Coast 500 road closures guide covers that area.

What else should I bring?

The stadium’s event page says to arrive early, have your ticket downloaded and ready to scan, and check the conditions of entry for restricted items. People First Stadium is a cashless venue, so bring an alternate payment option, and smoking and vaping are prohibited except in designated areas. The stadium’s information line is 5510 6000.
