Trains on the Ipswich/Rosewood and Springfield lines are replaced by timetabled railbuses in three separate closures over the next two weeks: from 9:30pm on Wednesday 28 October, from 11:30pm on Friday 30 October to the last service on Sunday 1 November, and between Ipswich and Rosewood only on Monday 2 November 2026.
The details below come from three Translink notices checked on Tuesday 20 October 2026. Normal fares and conditions apply on all scheduled services during each closure, and bikes and e-scooters are not permitted on the railbuses.
Wednesday 28 October: late-night closure
Translink’s late-night closure notice says railbuses replace trains from 9:30pm on Wednesday 28 October until the last service that night, running between Sherwood, Redbank and Springfield Central stations. The first train on Thursday 29 October is the next normal service. The notice was last reviewed on Monday 14 September 2026.

|---|---|

| Springfield | Sherwood, Corinda, Oxley, Darra, Richlands, Springfield, Springfield Central |

Friday 30 October to Sunday 1 November: weekend closure
The weekend closure notice, last reviewed on Friday 16 October at 4:23pm, says the closure starts at 11:30pm on Friday 30 October and ends with the last service on Sunday 1 November. Railbuses run between Roma Street and Rosewood and Springfield Central stations. The affected services are the T1 Ipswich / Rosewood and T2 Springfield Central.
| Line | Affected stations |
|---|---|
| Ipswich | Roma Street, Milton, Auchenflower, Toowong, Taringa, Indooroopilly, Chelmer, Graceville, Sherwood, Corinda, Oxley, Darra, Wacol, Gailes, Goodna, Redbank, Riverview, Dinmore, Ebbw Vale, Bundamba, Booval, East Ipswich, Ipswich |

| Springfield | Roma Street, Milton, Auchenflower, Toowong, Taringa, Indooroopilly, Chelmer, Graceville, Sherwood, Corinda, Oxley, Darra, Richlands, Springfield, Springfield Central |

The notice says the works are general track maintenance. It also says trains will still be affected by track closures between Ipswich and Rosewood stations on Monday 2 November, while services between Ipswich and the city run as scheduled.

Monday 2 November: Ipswich to Rosewood only
The weekday closure notice, last reviewed on Monday 19 October at 8:15am, says the closure runs from the first service to the last service on Monday 2 November. The next normal service is the first service on Tuesday 3 November. Railbus route R598 runs all stops between Ipswich and Rosewood stations, calling at Thomas Street, Wulkuraka, Karrabin, Walloon and Thagoona.
Translink says railbus travel times can vary with road and traffic conditions and tells passengers to allow extra travel time. The works are Ipswich station drainage and flood mitigation works.
