Clifford Park Racecourse in Toowoomba opens its Betting Ring and Main Bar at 10:00am on Tuesday 3 November 2026 for its Melbourne Cup Day meeting, with live local racing from 12:30pm and big-screen viewing of the Cup itself. The club’s event listing runs from 10:00am to 4:00pm, Brisbane time. General admission covers the Bistro, Main Bar, Trackside Lawn, TAB Betting Ring and the Fashions On The Field precinct, and the club also sells three hospitality packages.

This guide is built from the Clifford Park Racecourse event page, its Visit Us pages (getting here, general admission, what to wear and the FAQ) and its events calendar, all read on Monday 26 October 2026. The club has not published ticket prices or the Cup Day race card on those pages, and this guide says so where it matters rather than guessing.

What time does Melbourne Cup Day start at Clifford Park?

The club’s Melbourne Cup Day event page gives two times: the Betting Ring and Main Bar open from 10:00am, and live racing starts at 12:30pm. The calendar entry for the day runs from 10:00am to 4:00pm. The club’s Visit Us page says most race meetings at Clifford Park have around seven races with about 30 minutes between each race, but the Cup Day race card is not on the pages we read, so the number of races and the time of the last one are not confirmed.

Item Time or detail on Tuesday 3 November
Betting Ring and Main Bar open 10:00am
Live racing starts 12:30pm
Event listing ends 4:00pm (Australia/Brisbane)
Melbourne Cup Shown on big screens; start time not given on the Clifford Park page

Melbourne is on daylight saving in November and Queensland is not, so the Cup is run an hour earlier on a Toowoomba clock than on the Flemington one. The Victoria Racing Club’s Lexus Melbourne Cup Day page confirms the race is on Tuesday 3 November 2026 at Flemington, but the version we read does not give the start time. Check the club’s racebook or the VRC on the day for the time on a Toowoomba clock.

How much does it cost to get in?

The Cup Day event page lists “General Admission” as gate entry with access to the Bistro, Main Bar, Trackside Lawn, TAB Betting Ring and the Laser Clinics Australia Fashions On The Field precinct. It points buyers to a ticketing link and says ticket and booking fees apply, but it does not show a price. The ticketing page the club links to did not open for us on 26 October, so no Cup Day ticket price is quoted here.

The club’s General Admission page gives prices for standard race meetings, and those are a guide to the club’s usual range rather than the price for Cup Day, which the club lists as a feature raceday:

Who Standard race meeting price
Adults $10.00
Concession (government-issued card required) $5.00
Children 13 to 17 $5.00
Children 12 and under Free

The same page says most race meetings offer free entry excluding feature racedays, and the club’s Saturday night meeting page says members get free entry to every meeting, including all feature race days. If you are a member, you do not need to buy general admission.

What do the hospitality packages include?

Three packages are listed on the event page. The club does not show prices for them on that page, and each one says it includes fast-track admission.

Package What the club says is included
Canapé Affair Neil Mansell Winning Post; fast-track admission, a welcome cocktail, a four-hour gourmet canapé menu, access to a private function space, tote facilities and big-screen coverage of the racing
Trackside Garden Party For Six Reserved front lawn for groups of six; fast-track admission, a private trackside table with a view of the home straight, a shared charcuterie selection and an official race book
VIP Trackside Dining (limited availability) Clive Berghofer Grande Atrium; fast-track admission, reserved trackside seating, a three-course meal, a complimentary drink on arrival, private bar facilities, tote and bookmaker access and an official race book

How do I get to Clifford Park?

Clifford Park is on the western side of Toowoomba along Hursley Road, about 3 kilometres from the city centre, according to the club’s Visit Us page. General admission uses the General Admission Gate on Hursley Road.

How you travel What the club says
Drive On-site parking is accessed from Hursley Road; the FAQ says free on-site parking is available, including accessible parking close to the main entrance
Taxi Black & White Taxi Rank (#540) is directly outside the Main Entrance on Hursley Road for drop-offs and pick-ups; book through Black & White Cabs Toowoomba on 13 32 22 or its app
Uber or DiDi Both operate in the Toowoomba region; drop off at the Main Entrance Gate on Hursley Road
Public transport The FAQ says public transport is limited and recommends taxi or rideshare

One caution on parking: the Visit Us page says parking arrangements may vary for major events and tells visitors to refer to the individual featured raceday information. The Cup Day event page does not mention parking, so the free-parking line comes from the club’s general FAQ. Members and VIP guests on feature days use the TTC Car Park through the bottom gate closest to Tor Street only, travelling eastbound on Hursley Road; the main gates to that car park are for pedestrians and emergency vehicles only.

Will there be a bus home after the last race?

The club’s Visit Us page says that for selected feature racedays, Clifford Park will provide a courtesy bus into Toowoomba city after the final race, with schedules and departure times confirmed closer to each event. It does not say whether Cup Day is one of the selected days, and the event page does not mention a bus. Until the club confirms it, plan a taxi, rideshare or a lift home. Toowoomba Bus Station, which the club lists for local and long-distance buses, is at 23 Neil Street.

What should I wear?

The club’s What to Wear page sets different standards for different areas. General Admission areas, public bars, the TAB Betting Ring and the Trackside Lawn are public areas, where the club asks for minimum respectable dress at all times. Shorts, t-shirts, collared shirts, jumpers and jeans are acceptable there, and footwear must be worn at all times, including by children.

Area Ladies Gentlemen
Members and function areas: tops and bottoms Neat and modest tops; tailored skirts, shorts or full-length trousers, mid-thigh length or longer Collared polo or button-down shirt; long dress trousers or dress jeans
Members and function areas: dresses and shoes Midi to maxi dresses, partial cut-outs permitted; clean sandals or heels Closed-in dress shoes
Not permitted Excessive cut-outs, exposed midriff, ultra-mini lengths, joggers, cargo pants, leggings, activewear, beachwear Footy shorts, sleeveless tops, ripped clothing, thongs, runners, trainers or sneakers

That means the hospitality packages above, which sit in function spaces, fall under the stricter standard, while general admission is the relaxed one. The club says access to certain areas may be restricted if dress standards are not met, and that staff will help on arrival if you are unsure about an outfit. Its house policies also allow staff to ask for visible tattoos to be covered, to remove inappropriate fancy dress or props, to confiscate prohibited items and to inspect bags, and failing to comply may mean refusal of entry or removal.

What can I bring, and what if it rains?

The club’s FAQ says no BYO alcohol or commercial food is permitted, and that Clifford Park has multiple bars, food outlets and hospitality packages. The Bistro, on the ground level of the main building, serves an a la carte or buffet menu on racedays including children’s meals; the General Admission page gives its opening time as 3:00pm and the Main Bar’s as 10am, and those are the times for racedays in general rather than Cup Day specifically.

On wet weather, the FAQ says racing may continue unless conditions become unsafe, and that any changes will be announced on the club’s website and social media. The club says key venues, toilets and public areas have wheelchair access, and describes the venue as family-friendly. That FAQ line is about standard race days with an adult, so check the Cup Day listing if you are bringing children. If you want to bet, the club says TAB facilities are on course, staff can explain the options to newcomers and it asks everyone to bet responsibly and only what they are comfortable with.

What else is on at Clifford Park this spring?

The club’s events calendar lists Saturday night meetings on 31 October and 14, 21 and 28 November, with summer meetings on 5, 12, 19 and 26 December. For 31 October, the club’s event page says the Betting Ring and Main Bar open at 10:00am with live racing from 5:15pm, and general admission at the gate is $10.00 for adults, $5.00 for concession and for ages 13 to 17, and free for children 12 and under, with free entry for members.
