Parking at Westmead Hospital costs nothing for the first 30 minutes, then $8.70 for up to one hour, rising to a maximum of $25.80 a day, according to the Western Sydney Local Health District. You take a ticket when you drive in and, if you pay by cash or EFTPOS, pay at a ticket machine before you go back to your vehicle. A lost ticket also costs $25.80. Concession rates are lower and need no form for some card holders.

This guide is based on the district’s parking and directions page, read on 7 November 2026, and the Sydney Children’s Hospitals Network page for the Children’s Hospital at Westmead.

The district’s table is headed “Rates from 11 August 2025” and carries a note that fees increase annually on 1 July to reflect changes to the consumer price index. The Children’s Hospital at Westmead page, last updated on 6 July 2026, says its rates are current as of 1 July 2026 and lists the same casual amounts. So the table above matched the hospital pages we read on 7 November, but check the ticket machine and signs when you arrive.

Which car park should I use?

Car park Where it is Entrance Height limit
Car park 1 (new multi-storey) Near the Westmead Centre for Oral Health Darcy Road and Institute Road Not stated on the page
Car park 2 Near main hospital entrance 4 Darcy Road 2 metres from Darcy Road; 1.8 metres from Hawkesbury Road

Mobility parking is available in all visitor car parks, and help buttons on each machine give 24/7 assistance. The page says the nearest car park for the Crown Princess Mary Cancer Centre is car park 4, and that patients presenting for cancer treatment should take their parking ticket to the reception desk at the centre for validation. Timed general parking is also available on the street; the page does not give the time limits.

How do I pay?

All visitors, carers and patients must take a ticket on entry. Visitors paying by cash or EFTPOS must pay at the ticket machines before returning to their vehicle. For issues with ticket validation, the page gives the parking office number as 02 8890 3793.

Who pays less?

The district sets concessional rates each year from 1 July, and they are consistent across Western Sydney Local Health District and other health facilities across the state. The page lists the current concessional rates as effective from 11 August 2025.

Duration Concession rate What it is
0 to 3 hours Free
1 exit only $7.20 Single visit ticket valid for one entry and one exit per occasion
3 day ticket $14.40 Multiple entries and exits to the hospital campus in a 3 day period
7 day ticket $28.80 Multiple entries and exits to the hospital campus in a 7 day period

Those eligible are patients and their carers who need treatment over a period of time, or who attend more than twice weekly, including carers of long-term patients who visit often. A carer, on the page’s definition, is someone who gives ongoing unpaid support to a family member, neighbour or friend; paid employees, volunteers and people caring as part of education or training are not carers.

You are What to do
A holder of a valid Mobility Parking Scheme permit, Pensioner Concession Card, Gold Veterans Affairs Card or Health Care Card No form needed; collect the concession from Point Parking
An ongoing cancer treatment patient, someone attending for a course of treatment over more than a week, someone attending more than twice weekly, a cardiac rehabilitation class attendee, a daily dressing outpatient or a Health Promotion education class attendee Complete the concessional parking application form, signed by the Nursing Unit Manager or assigned social worker, and present it to the parking booth for validation
A patient or carer in financial hardship who does not meet those categories The page says you are also entitled to concessional car parking

Can I get there without a car?

Westmead Train Station is 250 metres from the hospital, about an 8 minute walk. The page says to exit the station onto Railway Parade, turn right at Hawkesbury Road and walk to the traffic lights at Darcy Road; the hospital is on the corner of Hawkesbury and Darcy Roads. The Westmead Hospital light rail stop is on Hawkesbury Road, metres from the Emergency Department. Plan your trip on Transport for NSW.

Is there help getting around inside the hospital?

The visitor buggy service, driven by volunteers, helps visitors, carers and outpatients who cannot walk to their destination. It runs Monday to Friday, 8am to 4pm, except public holidays, on level 2 (the entry level) only, with 9 stops. It is not available to in-patients or to people who can walk to their destination, and it cannot be pre-booked. Outside those hours the page points to the Orderly wheelchair service. Direct taxi telephones are provided at each entrance: emergency, outpatients, main entrance and the dental school.

What about the Children’s Hospital at Westmead?

It has its own page. The Sydney Children’s Hospitals Network says parent and visitor car parking is off Hainsworth Street (P6), reached by following Hawkesbury Road around the corner to the roundabout, with a height limit of 2 metres. It says its regular rates are current as of 1 July 2026 and lists the same casual rates as the district’s table. Street parking in the area includes Hawkesbury Road, Caroline Street, Helen Street, Jessie Street and Hainsworth Street, and there are parking bays in Parramatta Park, entered from the bottom end of Hainsworth Street.
