Powerhouse Parramatta, opening on Saturday 7 November 2026, has no onsite parking, according to the museum, and Transport for NSW says public transport, walking and cycling are the easiest ways to get there. The L4 light rail Church Street stop is about a 5-minute walk and Parramatta Station is about 8 to 10 minutes away, as of 22 October 2026.

The museum is at 34 Phillip Street, Parramatta (1 Danyamada Place), on the foreshore of the Parramatta River. It opens with five exhibitions and a 23-day Opening Festival from Saturday 7 to Sunday 29 November. This guide covers getting there and where to park, using the Transport for NSW notice dated 21 October and the museum’s visit page.

When is it open, and do I need to book?

The museum’s visit page says opening weekend, 7 and 8 November, is booking essential: you book a free arrival time for entry to the museum and four exhibitions. During the Opening Festival, opening hours are Monday to Wednesday 10am to 5pm and Thursday to Sunday 10am to 9pm. Task Eternal, an exhibition on aviation and space, has children under 16 free. For accessibility enquiries, bookings or Companion Card tickets, the museum lists its Contact Centre on (02) 9217 0111. Enter via 1 Danyamada Place off Phillip Street.

Can I park, or get dropped off?

No parking is available on site. The museum says passengers can be dropped off outside the main entry on Phillip Street, there is a pick-up and drop-off zone on Phillip Street, and paid parking is available within walking distance. Transport for NSW says parking in the Parramatta CBD may be limited during busy periods, so it encourages visitors to consider public transport and active transport where possible. It does not name any car parks, so check the signs and operators’ prices on the day.

  • Taxi and rideshare: dedicated taxi ranks and rideshare set-down and pick-up zones are near the museum along Phillip Street.
  • Coaches: a coach pick-up and drop-off zone on Phillip Street is available from 9am to midnight, with a 15-minute limit, for school excursions and other larger group visits.
  • Walking and cycling: the Parramatta Valley Cycleway connects Parramatta Park and Ryde along the Parramatta River, with links to the museum.

What help is there on opening weekend?

Transport for NSW says staff and volunteers will be in Parramatta Square and along Smith Street for the opening weekend to guide visitors to the museum. The 23-day Opening Festival runs from Saturday 7 to Sunday 29 November with 179 events across First Nations culture, space, science, technology and transport, design, architecture, music, food and film, according to the notice.
