Liverpool Powerhouse in Casula will hold two Starry Sari events in the last week of November 2026: a free “Mumbai night” on Friday 27 November from 5pm to 10pm, and the Starry Sari day itself on Sunday 29 November from 10am to 8pm. The Friday night has a published cost of free. The Sunday page lists a day of dance workshops, henna, face painting and a sari styling bar, but the Powerhouse has not yet published the stage line-up, the stalls or any price for that day.

What is Starry Sari?
The Powerhouse describes Starry Sari as a celebration of South Asian culture through fashion, music, dance, food and storytelling, inspired by the sari. Its page promises South Asian cuisine, market stalls, interactive workshops and live cultural performances. The page also says the full event program is still being prepared, so the list of acts, stalls and prices will change as the date gets closer.
The event sits alongside the Powerhouse’s new sari exhibitions, which open on Saturday 7 November. Our guide to The Offbeat Sari and The Dressing Room covers those free galleries, which are open on both of these days during normal opening hours.
What is on at the Friday night Mumbai night on 27 November?
The Powerhouse calls the Friday event “Recharge Fridays | Starry Sari Edition” and describes it as a Mumbai night out. Its event page gives the cost as free and the venue as Liverpool Powerhouse. The enquiries phone number on the page is 02 8711 7123.
| What | Time on Friday 27 November |
|---|---|
| Live DJ playing Bollywood, Bhangra and South Asian hits | 5pm to 10pm |
| Complimentary henna artistry | 5pm to 8pm |
| Bollywood dance lessons | 6pm to 9pm |
| Indian street food and cocktails | No time given |
The dance lessons run as three short sessions: 6pm to 6:20pm, 7pm to 7:20pm and 8pm to 8:20pm. The page invites people to book a table or simply drop in. The Powerhouse does not say what a table costs or how many seats there are. The booking link is on the event page.
The Powerhouse’s own pages disagree on Friday hours: its Visit page (read 31 October) lists Friday as 10am to 10pm, while the Starry Sari page lists 10am to 9pm. The event page gives 5pm to 10pm for the Mumbai night, and this guide follows it.

What is on at Starry Sari on Sunday 29 November?
The Liverpool City Council What’s On list gives Starry Sari as running from 10am to 8pm on Sunday 29 November at Liverpool Powerhouse. The Powerhouse’s own Starry Sari page lists seven parts of the day. Four of them have details published and three say “stay tuned”.
| Part of the day | What the Powerhouse says |
|---|---|
| Dance with Nritta | Four dance workshops through the day (see the timetable below) |
| Henna and face painting | 10am to 8pm, outside the Powerhouse near the kids’ playground |
| Pink Sari styling bar | Draping techniques, styling tips and ways to wear the sari; no times published |
| Main Stage | Line-up not yet announced |
| The Markets Village | Stall line-up not yet announced |
| The Food Village | Stall line-up not yet announced |
| Recharge Friday | Mumbai Night | The Friday event on 27 November, described above |

When are the dance workshops on 29 November?
The Powerhouse says the Dance with Nritta workshops suit all ages and all levels, from first-timers to experienced dancers. The page gives four sessions, each 90 minutes:
| Workshop | Start | End |
|---|---|---|
| Bharatanatyam | 11:30am | 1pm |
| Bollywood | 1:30pm | 3pm |
| Bolly-Hop | 3:30pm | 5pm |
| Kuthu | 5:30pm | 7pm |
The Powerhouse describes Bharatanatyam as a dance of graceful storytelling, Bollywood as energetic, Bolly-Hop as an urban fusion and Kuthu as high-octane. The page does not say whether the workshops are free or how to join one, whether you need to book or whether places are limited.

Is there anything else on at the Powerhouse that weekend?
The council What’s On list also shows a Hand Built Coffee Cup Workshop at Liverpool Powerhouse on Sunday 29 November from 11am to 1pm. It is a separate workshop in the council list, not part of the Starry Sari program. The Powerhouse’s Saturday market (Powerhouse Growers & Artisan Markets) is listed for Saturdays from 8am to 1pm, so it is not on during Starry Sari on the Sunday.
How do I get to Liverpool Powerhouse?
The Powerhouse says it is directly opposite Casula Station, reached by a pedestrian overpass, and gives the walk as 2 minutes to the front doors. Casula is on the T2 line. The Powerhouse also advises that on big event days the train is the best choice because parking can fill up fast.
| Option | What the Powerhouse says |
|---|---|
| Train | Get off at Casula Station on the T2 line, then cross the overpass (about 2 minutes) |
| Car | Free on-site parking; enter via Shepherd Street or Powerhouse Road |
| Tall vehicles | The Woodbrook Road underpass has a vehicle clearance of 2.5 metres |
The Friday night finishes at 10pm. The Powerhouse has not published a shuttle, an extra car park or a road closure for either day. This guide will be updated if it does.

What is still to be confirmed?
- Cost of Sunday 29 November. The Powerhouse page gives no price or ticketing information for Starry Sari day. Only the Friday event is labelled free.
- Main Stage, market stalls and food stalls. All three pages say the line-up is still to come.
- Dance workshop booking. The page lists times but not how to join.
- Dates on the Powerhouse page. The main Starry Sari page does not show a date. The 29 November date and the 10am to 8pm hours come from the Liverpool City Council What’s On list and major events page. The henna and face painting page also gives 10am to 8pm.
- Sunday hours. The Visit page gives Sunday opening as 10am to 4pm, which is shorter than the Starry Sari hours.

- Sunday 29 November: 10am to 8pm, four dance workshops from 11:30am, henna and face painting outside by the playground.
