Queen Victoria Market lists two car parks, both entered from Queen Street: a multi-level Undercover Car Park and an Open Air Car Park.

The Market lists Tuesday, Thursday and Friday trading from 6am to 3pm, Saturday from 6am to 4pm and Sunday from 9am to 4pm, and notes that specialty shopping opens at 9am every Market day. This guide sets out the rates, the $2 discount, how to get there without a car, and one change to the car park exits, using the Market’s own parking and car park rates pages, checked on 20 October 2026.

What are the two car parks?

The Multi-Level Undercover Car Park is open 24 hours a day, seven days a week. It spans four levels and has 506 car spaces, including 10 accessible spaces, 6 spaces for parents with prams and 12 electric vehicle parking and charging bays on level B2 with Schneider type 2 chargers (bring your own charging cable). The maximum vehicle height is 2.2 metres.

The Open Air Car Park is open from 5am to 7pm, seven days a week. For special event parking, such as the Night Market seasons, it is open from 4:30pm until 11pm. The Market says it has hundreds of spaces, including accessible spaces, senior citizen spaces and spaces for parents with prams, and there is no maximum height. The undercover entry is directly opposite the open-air entry on Queen Street.

How do I get the $2 discount?

The Market says you can get $2 off your parking after 9am on Market days, in both car parks. You need the QVM Parking app, from the App Store or Google Play. New users register their details, including a credit or debit card, then scan a QR code found around the Market; the Market’s map shows 19 locations, marked with a pink dot. The discounted rate is charged automatically to the registered card when you exit.

  • The discount is not available on Monday or Wednesday, or on Wednesday nights for the Night Market.
  • It does not apply if you pay cash at the pay machines. It only applies through the app.
  • The app sends an electronic receipt to your registered email address for each parking session, so check your spam folder if you cannot find it.

Which exits can I use?

The Market’s car park access page says the open-air car park is entered from Queen Street and lists exits onto Peel Street, Queen Street and Franklin Street. A separate Market notice says the Franklin Street exit from the open-air car park was due to close permanently to vehicles from Monday 20 July, so the site can be prepared for the next stage of the Gurrowa Place development. The notice does not state the year, and the access page still lists Franklin Street, so check the signs on arrival.

According to the notice, an extra exit lane was added to the Peel Street exit when the Franklin Street exit closed, and the Queen Street exit stays open, giving two ways out. The boom gate, licence plate recognition equipment and payment machine moved to the new Peel Street exit lane.
