Adelaide’s UPark car parks cost between $23 and $34 for a full weekday at drive-up rates in eight of the nine locations, and Central Market is priced on a different scale. The City of Adelaide owns and operates all nine, which together hold about 6,000 spaces, and four of them are open 24 hours a day.
This guide pulls the figures from UPark’s car park pages and the City of Adelaide’s parking page, as checked on Monday 19 October 2026. Prices, hours and conditions change, so confirm them at the entrance or on the UPark page before you drive in.
This guide covers the nine off-street UPark car parks the City lists. UPark also runs six open-air car parks (Andrew, Bowden, 218 Flinders Street, 169 Morphett Street, 247 Pirie Street and 43 Sturt Street) that are not covered here.

What do the UPark car parks cost on a weekday?
The table shows the weekday drive-up rate, which is what you pay if you arrive without a booking. “Up to 1 hour” is the rate for the longest stay in the first hour, so the Frome Street figure of $8 covers 30 minutes to 1 hour and the first 30 minutes are $5.
| Car park | Address | Up to 1 hour | 2 to 3 hours | Daily maximum | Height clearance |
|---|---|---|---|---|---|
| Light Square | 22–140 Currie Street | $7 | $14 | $23 | 2.00 m |
| Frome Street | 22–30 Frome Street | $8 | $17 | $26 | 2.00 m |
| Grote Street | 82 Grote Street | $6 | $15 | $26 | 2.10 m |
| Pirie Flinders | 191-207 Pirie Street | $9 | $16 | $30 | 2.20 m |
| Topham Mall | 52–54 Waymouth Street | $9 | $18 | $31 | 2.03 m |
| Rundle Street | 163–185 Rundle Street | $7 | $17 | $32 | 1.98 m |
| Wyatt Street | 18-34 Wyatt Street | $11 | $22 | $33 | 2.05 m |
| Gawler Place | 9–17 Gawler Place | $10 | $23 | $34 | 1.96 m |
UPark lists the daily maximum as also the charge for a lost ticket. Prebooked rates are lower in some bands. For example, Frome Street’s prebook rate is $24 for the day against $26 drive-up, while a few car parks, such as Pirie Flinders, charge more for a prebooked stay of three to four hours than for the same drive-up stay.

What about UPark Central Market?
UPark Central Market, at 60 Gouger Street, is open 24 hours and has a height clearance of 2.06 metres. Its pricing differs from the other eight: the page lists $2 for 0 to 1 hour, available only during Market standard hours, then $7 for 1 to 2 hours, $13 for 2 to 3 hours, $20 for 3 to 4 hours, $30 for 4 to 5 hours, $40 for 5 to 6 hours and $50 for the daily maximum.
UPark’s page also carries a notice that, because of works for the Market Square development, access to some areas of the car park is temporarily restricted. UPark says it is offering free parking for Central Market visitors at the nearby UPark Andrew and UPark Grote car parks, and the page links to the conditions. Read that notice before you plan a market trip.

Which UPark car parks are open 24 hours?

Gawler Place has public-holiday hours of its own: UPark lists it as closed on Good Friday and open 10:00am to 6:00pm on Easter Sunday, Easter Monday and the King’s Birthday. Grote Street, Pirie Flinders and Wyatt Street list 6:00am to midnight on public holidays, while Topham Mall’s page does not list a public-holiday line.

Are there cheaper rates for early arrivals, nights and Sundays?
Yes, though the details vary by car park. UPark’s Early Bird rate generally applies when you enter before 9:30am and exit before 7:00pm on the same day, with the exceptions noted below. The weekday drive-up Early Bird prices listed on the pages are:
- Light Square: $17 (enter before 8:30am; see its page for the exit window)
- Rundle Street: $17
- Grote Street: $18
- Gawler Place: $19
- Pirie Flinders: $20
- Topham Mall and Wyatt Street: $23 (Wyatt Street’s drive-up Early Bird requires entry before 8:30am)
At Frome Street, the night rate is $8 from Monday to Friday if you enter after 6:00pm and leave before 6:00am the next day. At Rundle Street the drive-up night rate is $8 for entry after 6:00pm Monday to Thursday and after 9:30pm on Friday, leaving before 6:00am. The Sunday flat rate at both car parks is $8 drive-up. At Light Square, UPark lists $8 for entry after 4:00pm and exit before 6:00am the next day from Monday to Thursday, and $8 for entry after 4:00pm and exit before midnight on Friday. Other car parks list their own night and weekend rates, and the Adelaide Fringe can change them, so check the page for the car park you plan to use.
How do I pay at a UPark car park?
- Book online: prebook through UPark. Visa and MasterCard are accepted. You may enter up to 30 minutes before or after your booked time and exit up to 1 hour after your booked exit time, with extra rates for a late exit.
- Ticketless: tap a Visa, MasterCard or Amex credit card to enter and exit.
- Scan to pay: scan the QR code in the car park with your phone.
- UPark Plus: touch-free parking with capped prices, using a linked credit or debit card.
- Ticketed: take a ticket and pay before you exit, with cash, Visa, Mastercard or Amex.
UPark pages also list electric vehicle chargers at Central Market, Frome Street, Grote Street, Light Square, Pirie Flinders, Rundle Street, Topham Mall and Wyatt Street, and motorbike parking at Gawler Place, Grote Street, Light Square, Rundle Street, Topham Mall and Wyatt Street.

How does on-street parking work in the city?
The City of Adelaide says it has about 9,300 free time-limit spaces and about 3,000 paid ticket spaces on its streets. On-street parking is cashless: the ticket machines no longer accept coins, and you pay with Visa or Mastercard, a debit card or a digital wallet. The council says transaction fees are not passed on. You can also pay with the UPark app by scanning the QR code on the ticket machine screen. If you do not have a credit or debit card, the council suggests a prepaid card such as the Australia Post Everyday Mastercard.
The council also says parking conditions and time limits change frequently, so read the signs before you leave your vehicle. Its interactive parking map shows the time limits and controls on each street.
Do I pay on public holidays?
On locally recognised public holidays in the city and North Adelaide, time-limited on-street bays, paid or unpaid, that are signposted Mon to Fri can be used free of charge and without a time limit. Other controls still apply. These include continuous yellow edge lines, stopping within 10 metres of an intersecting road, No Stopping, No Parking, Loading, Bus, Taxi and Permit zones, and any sign marked At All Times.
What if I need a receipt or get a fine?
For on-street parking you can request a receipt through the council’s self-serve portal or its online form, and UPark’s website handles receipts for the off-street car parks. A parking expiation notice can be handed to you, placed under your windscreen wiper or posted to you.
Quick plan
- Check the height clearance first: it ranges from 1.96 metres at Gawler Place to 2.20 metres at Pirie Flinders.
- For a late finish, choose a car park that is open at that hour: Central Market, Frome Street, Light Square and Rundle Street are open 24 hours, and the others close between midnight and 2:00am on Fridays and Saturdays.
- For a long weekday stay, compare the daily maximum in the table with the Early Bird rate if you arrive before 9:30am.
- Pay by tapping a card, scanning the QR code, or through UPark Plus to avoid handling a ticket.
- On the street, carry a card, because the ticket machines do not take coins.
