What trackwork affects the trip on 31 October?

Transport for NSW says trackwork on Saturday 31 October is taking place on the following lines, and to plan ahead with the Trip Planner:

Line What Transport for NSW says
T9 Northern Buses replace trains between Hornsby and Strathfield. Fans from there can take a replacement bus to Concord West and walk to the stadium, about 30 minutes, or take a bus to Strathfield and connect to Lidcombe then Olympic Park.
T1 North Shore Buses replace trains between Berowra and Hornsby. Trains run between Hornsby and the City, some to a changed timetable.
T2 and T3 Inner West Inner West trains do not run. You will need to change trains if travelling to Museum, St James or Circular Quay.
T6 Lidcombe & Bankstown Trains run every 30 minutes. From 4pm to 1:30am, trains run between Bankstown and North Sydney.
T7 Olympic Park From 4pm to 1:30am, trains run to a changed timetable between Olympic Park and Lidcombe.
Blue Mountains, Central Coast & Newcastle, Hunter Changed timetables or buses replace trains on parts of these lines.

If you use Sydney Metro, the M1 Metro North West & Bankstown Line runs between Tallawong, Chatswood and Sydenham. Because of the T9 trackwork, Transport for NSW says to change at Epping for a replacement bus to Concord West, or at Central for trains to Lidcombe then Olympic Park.

Which buses run, and are there extra services?

The Sydney Olympic Park Major Event Buses will not run for this event. Regular route buses run towards the precinct instead, and extra services are added on two routes.

  • Route 525 runs between Parramatta and Lidcombe via Newington. Take a train from Lidcombe to continue to Olympic Park.
  • Route 526 runs between Strathfield and Rhodes Shopping Centre via the Sydney Olympic Park precinct and wharf.
  • Route 533 runs between Sydney Olympic Park and Chatswood via Rhodes and North Ryde.
Additional bus Getting there Getting home
526 from or to Strathfield Every 5 to 10 minutes from 4:30pm until 8:20pm Every 6 to 10 minutes from 10:35pm until 12:21am
526 from or to Rhodes Every 5 to 15 minutes from 4:30pm until 8:13pm Every 6 to 10 minutes from 10:40pm to 12:40am
533 from or to Chatswood Every 10 minutes from 4:08pm until 7:12pm Every 6 to 10 minutes from 10:32pm until 12:12am (some services end at Top Ryde)

Transport for NSW says roads will close in the precinct and routes 526 and 533 will divert while closures are in place. It also says shuttle buses run between car parks in Olympic Park and the stadium.

Can I come by ferry or light rail?

The closest wharf is Sydney Olympic Park Wharf. A connecting route 526 bus goes to the venue, or it is about a 40-minute walk (3.6km). F3 Parramatta River ferries run regularly to Olympic Park, but Transport for NSW says services are very popular and may reach capacity. F3 ferries may also be affected by low tide between Parramatta and Rydalmere and replaced by buses.

Transport for NSW says to change at Central from the L1, L2 and L3 lines for a train to Lidcombe, then Olympic Park. From the L4 line, alight at Parramatta Square or Westmead to connect with trains to Olympic Park.

Where can I park, and what does it cost?

Transport for NSW urges fans to pre-book parking online to secure a space. A flat rate of $40 applies. If you have pre-booked, follow staff directions and have your parking ticket ready at the car park entry. Traffic will be heavy approaching the precinct and entering car parks, and after the concert you should expect up to an hour of additional travel time to exit.

The other option is to park at a commuter car park at a train station and continue by train, at no extra cost, as the page puts it. It lists these stations:

  • T1 Western: Seven Hills, Blacktown, Emu Plains, Rooty Hill, St Marys and Penrith.
  • T1 North Shore and T9 Northern: Gordon, Thornleigh and Concord West. Buses replace trains between Hornsby and Strathfield and between Hornsby and Berowra.
  • T2 Inner West and Leppington: Fairfield, Warwick Farm, Leppington and Edmondson Park.
  • T4 Eastern Suburbs and Illawarra: Sutherland and Kogarah.
  • T8 Airport and South: Padstow, Revesby, Glenfield, Holsworthy, Macarthur, Campbelltown and Leumeah.

Transport Park&Ride car parks give up to 18 hours of free parking a day when you complete a public transport trip, and tickets to BIGBANG include free Park&Ride parking. When leaving, use the intercom at the exit gate and show your event ticket.

Where do taxis and rideshare go?

Designated pick-up and drop-off zones are near the stadium outside Afterpay Arena next door and outside the Aquatic Centre, both short walks away. Follow directions to the meeting points in your rideshare app. Taxi ranks are on Herb Elliott Avenue near Showground Road at the Pullman Hotel. Transport for NSW says taxis and rideshare are expected to face traffic delays while roads are closed in the precinct.

Sydney Olympic Park Authority will close local roads for the event, and the page says closure information will be available closer to the event. Check the Sydney Olympic Park interactive map and Live Traffic NSW for the latest.

Transport for NSW also links an Olympic Park transport map (PDF) from its event page.
