Box Hill Hospital’s public car park is free for the first 30 minutes and costs $40 for a full day, according to Eastern Health’s page for the hospital, checked on 7 November 2026.
The car park is a basement under Building A, entered from Rodgerson Road, and a pay machine takes coins, notes and cards. This guide sets out the fees, the cheaper rates for concession card holders and for patients who attend often, the accessible parking spaces and the public transport options, all taken from the hospital’s own page.

Where do I drive in, and where can I be dropped off?
The hospital uses different entrances for different needs, and Eastern Health lists each one.
| Where | What the hospital says |
|---|---|
| Main entrance, Building A, Arnold Street | A drop-off only area is available at the main entrances |
| Emergency Department, via Rodgerson Road | Short-term and emergency drop-off parking is available at the front; the department is open 24 hours a day, 7 days a week |
| B1 basement car park, entry off Rodgerson Road | Limited off-street public parking, including disabled parking; maximum height 2.2 metres; lifts from B1 and B2 go to all levels of Building A |
| Building B, Nelson Road | Drop-off for the Specialist (Outpatient) Clinics |
| Thames Street | Address for the Adolescent Inpatient Unit and Upton House |
Parking in the basement is described as limited.

Is there parking on the streets around the hospital?
Eastern Health says restricted two-hour metered street parking is available in the streets around the hospital. It also warns that failing to follow parking restrictions on the hospital grounds and surrounding streets may bring a parking infringement notice from the local council. The hospital points visitors to the Whitehorse City Council limits and says to always check road signs for times and restrictions.
For drivers with a disability sticker, the hospital’s page adds a colour guide for street signs. Green means double the time period, with the initial fee payable where signed. Blue means free parking for the length of time signed.

Who pays the $10 concession rate, and how do I get it?
Eastern Health offers a discounted daily rate of $10 to holders of any of these cards:
- Centrelink Pensioner Concession Card
- Veteran Affairs Pensioner Concession Card
- Centrelink Healthcare Card
- Veterans Affairs Gold Card (all, War Widow, TPI, POW and EDA)
The rate applies only to people attending Eastern Health sites as a visitor or patient. The card must be in the name of the person asking for the rate, and that person can be asked for photographic identification. To get it, present your card and your parking ticket at Main Reception between 7:00am and 8:00pm.
What if I come three times a week or more?
Eastern Health has a separate hardship discount for people who do not hold a concession card. It is a daily rate of $10 for a patient and up to two guardians or significant others. You qualify if you are:
- attending as a patient three or more times a week, or
- the legal guardian or significant other of an admitted patient who must attend three or more times a week as part of their care plan.
The steps are to collect a Voucher for Discounted Car Parking from Main Reception, have it authorised by a Nurse Unit Manager, Associate Unit Manager or Social Worker, and hand it back to Main Reception with your ticket. A voucher is valid for one month from the application date.
Where are the accessible parking spaces?
| Location | Spaces |
|---|---|
| Hospital main car park, from Rodgerson Road (fee applies) | 4 |
| Emergency Department entrance, from Rodgerson Road (15 minutes) | 2 |
| Street beside Building A, Arnold Street | 4 |
| Building B drive-through parking, from Nelson Road (4 hours) | 6 |
| Thames Street (2 hours) | 3 |
For general street parking, the hospital asks that your disability sticker is visible on the dashboard. Whitehorse City Council explains the two permit types on its accessible parking page. The Australian Disability Parking Permit lets you park for the time shown on the sign in a disabled bay, and for twice the time in a regular bay, without paying in the Whitehorse municipality. The Victorian Double Time permit allows twice the time in an ordinary bay only, and you must pay for the first period. The council says free parking may not apply in another municipality or in private ticketed car parks, so check the sign.

Which phone number do I call?
Hospital and Specialist (Outpatient) Clinic enquiries are both on 1300 342 255. From overseas the hospital lists +61 3 8804 9999. Upton House is on (03) 9895 4956, the Adolescent Unit on (03) 9092 6740, and Ward 1 East and Wellington House on (03) 9895 4939.
For fees, concession cards or vouchers, the hospital’s page points to Main Reception rather than a separate number.
If you are heading to Box Hill for something other than the hospital, the same station and Whitehorse Road tram stop serve the Persian Fair and Bazaar at Box Hill Town Hall on 14 and 15 November.
