When can I enter and leave?
| Question | What the hospital says |

| Can I enter after 9pm? | Yes, use the intercom at the entrance to request access (9pm to 6am) |

What if the car park is full?
The hospital says the car park fills quickly early in the day, before 9am, so it suggests visiting later in the day if you can. It also says you can try one of the other local car parks or come by public transport; for fares, see our myki fares guide. There is on-street parking in the surrounding streets, and most of it is metered from Monday to Saturday, so check the signs.

How much does parking cost?
The hospital says these fees apply from 1 July 2025. Ticket machines take cash (coins and notes) and credit cards with a surcharge: Visa and MasterCard 2 per cent and Amex 3 per cent.
| Parking duration | Fee |
|---|---|
| First 30 minutes | Free |
| 30 minutes to 1 hour | $12 |
| 1 to 2 hours | $21 |
| 2 to 3 hours | $27 |

Can I get a cheaper rate?
Yes. The hospital offers concession parking at a discounted rate. You ask your nurse unit manager or the department you are visiting for a concession parking form, and present it at the car park office. Concession permits are valid for one week from the date of issue, and each family gets one permit.
| Concession | Who is eligible | Rate |
|---|---|---|
| Pension or Health Care Card | Anyone with a valid Pensioner Concession Card or Health Care Card | $12 per day. If you entered the previous day, a new daily charge applies when you exit after 6am |
| Long-term stay | Patients staying 3 days or more | $11 per visit |
| Multi-visit patients (3 or more visits in a week) | Patients making 3 or more visits in a week | $15 per visit |
| Multi-visit patients (more than once a day) | Patients coming to the car park more than once on the same day | Ask the car park staff for fee information |
To claim the Pension or Health Care Card rate, present your card to the car park office. For the long-term and multi-visit rates, complete the form and present it to the car park office before you leave. For more than one visit in a day, the hospital says to ask for a special circumstances permit from the nurse unit manager or the department.

Where do I get dropped off, and what about accessible parking?
The hospital lists three pick-up and drop-off places:
- The temporary pick-up and drop-off bays inside the hospital car park on level 2. The first 30 minutes in the car park is free.
- The taxi rank outside the hospital main entrance on Grattan Street.
- Outside Melbourne Private Hospital on Royal Parade.
There are access ramps into the hospital. There are no lifts in the car park, so if you cannot use the stairs, use the 18 reserved disabled parking bays on level 2. Level 2 goes directly through to the ground level entrance of the hospital.

Who can help me at the car park?
- The car park office is staffed Monday to Friday, 7:00am to 8:30pm, except public holidays.
- An intercom button is available 24 hours a day at the entrance and the exit.
- If you need a wheelchair or help getting to your appointment from the car park, call (03) 9342 7259. There is a phone next to the car park office.
- Travellers Aid is a free service for people with mobility needs who are transiting through Parkville Station or attending appointments in Parkville. The hospital says it can help with wayfinding, wheelchair assistance and personal guidance between Parkville Station and the Royal Melbourne Hospital, the Women’s or Peter Mac.
