This guide sets out the full fee table for cars and motorcycles, the Sunday and public holiday rates, how to pay, where the accessible spaces and facilities are, and what to expect at the entrance while the hospital works continue on Argyle Street. All figures come from the City of Hobart’s Argyle Street Car Park page, read on Friday 23 October 2026.

How much does it cost to park?
The council’s page shows one fee table headed “Multi-storey car park fees”, and says the City’s multi-storey car parks give visitors longer time at a lower cost compared with short-stay on-street parking bays. The table sits on the Argyle Street page under that heading.
| Time | Cars | Motorcycles |
|---|---|---|
| 0 to 1 hours | Free | Free |
| 1 to 2 hours | $6 | Free |
| 2 to 3 hours | $10 | $3 |
| 3 to 4 hours | $13 | $3 |
| 4 to 5 hours | $17 | $4 |
| 5 to 6 hours | $20 | $6 |
| 6 to 7 hours | $23 | $7 |
| 7 to 8 hours | $27 | $9 |
| 8 or more hours | $27 | $10 |
There is also an overnight fee of $8. The council page does not say in the text read for this guide which hours count as overnight, so check the signs inside the car park.
What about Sundays and public holidays?
On public holidays and Sundays, the first hour is free and the hourly rate after the first hour is $3 an hour, with a maximum charge of $11. The council says more information is in its fees and charges booklet.

Are there cheaper rates for some visitors?
The council lists two reduced fee parking schemes. The Pensioner Voucher Scheme offers a book of parking vouchers to eligible Pension Card holders. The Patient Assisted Travel Scheme (PATS) lets eligible patients and their families park in any of the City of Hobart’s multi-storey car parks for a reduced fee while using certain facilities. Details are on the council’s parking permits and schemes page.
What are the opening hours and the height limit?
The car park is open 6:30am to 10:00pm, Sunday to Saturday. The height restriction is 2 metres. The council lists 1,155 parking bays in total.
Where is the entrance, and how do I walk in?
Vehicle entry is from Argyle Street, between Collins and Liverpool streets. Pedestrians can enter from Argyle Street, Wellington Court and the Wellington Centre. The car park’s address is 38 Argyle Street.
That stretch of Argyle Street is part of the Royal Hobart Hospital’s emergency department works. The Department of Health says the right-hand lane between Collins and Liverpool streets is now an ambulance bay and that Argyle Street is reduced to two lanes, and that cars and trucks cannot turn left into Liverpool Street from 7:00am to 7:00pm. Our guide to the Royal Hobart Hospital’s Argyle Street entrance has the details.

How do I get to the hospital or the Wellington Centre?
The council says access directly to the Wellington Centre and the Royal Hobart Hospital via the skybridge is available on Level 3. Additional accessible parking spaces and pay stations are at the walkway to those services. The Department of Health’s parking page says a drop-off zone on Level 3 gives access to the Wellington Clinics and the hospital through the air walk between 8:00am and 5:00pm; the department’s emergency department page says the Level 3 airbridge to the Wellington Clinics is available from 8:00am to 5:00pm, Monday to Friday.

Where are the accessible spaces and other facilities?
- Accessible parking: 41 spaces close to the elevators, on levels 1, 2, 3 and 6 of the main car park and on every level on the Woolworths side. A valid Disability Parking Permit must be displayed.
- Toilets and parenting room: public toilets are in the car park foyer, and a parenting room is on Level 1.
- Electric vehicle charging: two 22kW charging stations on Levels 1 and 2, next to the entry lift and stairwell.
- Bicycle lockers: available for a fee. You must bring your own lock.
- Wheelchair hire: free, for people visiting the CBD for a few hours. Book on 03 6238 2796, or ask on the day if one is available.
- Motorcycle parking: listed among the car park’s features.
How do I pay?
The council says drivers who use express pay in the EasyPark app can drive in, park and drive out. Once express pay is enabled for your vehicle, the parking session starts automatically when you drive in and stops when you leave, with no ticket, payment machine or phone to touch. To check, activate or deactivate it, open the EasyPark app and go to Menu, then Express pay. EasyPark Customer Support is on 1300 734 070.

The council page does not describe the pay stations in the text read for this guide, beyond saying that there are pay stations at the Level 3 walkway.
What if my car is locked in after closing?
The car park closes at 10:00pm. If you discover your vehicle is locked in one of the City’s car parks, the council says it may be released after hours by phoning security on 03 6105 0420, and that a fee is payable on release in addition to any daily parking fees.
Is there another car park nearby?
The Department of Health’s hospital parking page names a second car park for people visiting the hospital’s clinics: the Vodafone Central Car Park, run by Sultan Parking. It says there is a drop-off zone on Level 1 for the Liverpool Clinics, and that if you exit within 15 minutes of entering you do not need to pay. Vehicles enter from Argyle or Bathurst streets and exit from Argyle Street only. Limited casual parking is available on levels 3 to 5, subject to availability, seven days a week. The rates and height restrictions for that car park are on the Sultan Parking website, not in this guide, so they are not compared here with the council’s table.
The same page says there is no long-term parking at the hospital itself and that there are only limited metered, short-term spaces on the streets around it. It also asks you to have a friend or relative bring you, if possible.
