Parking at Gold Coast University Hospital in Southport is paid and charged by the time between entry and exit: $4.50 for up to 30 minutes, rising to $22.50 for 3 hours or more, as of October 2026. The car park is a multi-storey building next to the hospital, with more than 2,200 undercover spaces, open 24 hours a day and entered from Hospital Boulevard.

Eligible patients and their primary carers can get a $5 discount on the total fee through Gold Coast Health’s concessional parking scheme. The hospital warns that parking may be limited during busy periods or wet weather, so allow extra time or consider public transport.

How much does it cost?

Is there a discount for patients and carers?

Yes, if you meet the conditions. Gold Coast Health’s concessional parking page (last updated 13 May 2026) says patients and primary carers may be eligible if they:

  • hold a Pensioner Concession Card, Seniors Health Card or Low Income Health Care Card;
  • attend hospital 2 or more times a week for treatment (eligible after 7 days);
  • stay in hospital for an extended period (eligible after 7 days), including intensive or critical care, coronary care, rehabilitation and end-of-life care; or
  • receive ongoing treatment, such as cancer or dialysis care, or are a neonatal intensive care carer, by application.

Concessional parking is not available for occasional visits that do not meet these criteria. At Gold Coast University Hospital the concession is a $5 discount on the total fee, on top of the standard rates above. To apply, complete the application form and give it to your Ward Clerk, Social Worker or Nurse Unit Manager. Once you are approved, collect a follow-on ticket at reception and use it at the pay station. For questions, the hospital’s parking office is on 07 5629 1000.

Where do I drop someone off?

Gold Coast Health lists three main entrances for patient pick-up and drop-off. The main entrance on Hospital Boulevard has a drop-off zone and is the best entry for clinical services. In an emergency, use Hollows Way off Olsen Avenue for direct access to the drop-off zone. The Transfer Unit has its own entrance on Innovation Drive. Visitor parking is available on Hospital Boulevard, and commercial rates apply.

Can I take the tram or bus?

Gold Coast Health says bus and light rail services are nearby and suggests planning your journey with Translink. Gold Coast University Hospital is one of the G:link stations, between Parkwood East and Griffith University. If you travel in the evening, note that buses replace trams between Helensvale and Gold Coast University Hospital stations from 7:30pm on Sunday to Thursday nights until 22 October. Translink says the closures are for Coomera Connector (Stage 1) construction works, and that normal services resume from the first service the next morning. At the hospital, the replacement buses use the hospital bus station, platform 4 is the stop listed towards Gold Coast University Hospital (Stop ID 318945) and platform 3 is the stop listed towards Helensvale (Stop ID 318946), not the tram platform. Our G:link evening closures guide has the dates and the replacement arrangements.

What about Robina Hospital?

Gold Coast Health’s concessional scheme also covers Robina Hospital, where the concession is a $4 flat rate for full-day parking (over 4 hours). Its standard rates are: free for 30 minutes, $4.00 for 1 to 4 hours and $8.00 over 4 hours. See our Robina Hospital parking guide for the full table.
