The City of Gold Coast is running a free drive-through recycling day for e-waste, household linen, fire extinguishers and vapes at Carrara on Sunday 8 November 2026, from 9am to 3pm. It is for Gold Coast residents only, and no booking is needed.
This brief uses the City’s What’s On Gold Coast listing, read on 27 October 2026. The City may change the details, so check the listing the day before.
What can I drop off at the Drop and Go event?
The City says the event takes household items that cannot be recycled through kerbside collections. It accepts:
- E-waste, meaning electrical and electronic items. For safety, separate any batteries and light bulbs from the electrical items.
- Household linen: sheets, pillowcases, tablecloths and towels.
- Fire extinguishers.
- Vapes and e-cigarettes.
Only household quantities are accepted. The City says the materials are loaded onto waiting trucks and sent for further processing, and that the event supports its circular economy goals and keeps valuable resources out of landfill.

What will the event not accept?
For safety and operational reasons the City lists these as not accepted:
| Group | Not accepted |
|---|---|
| Waste and recycling | General household waste; general recyclables such as cardboard, plastics, cans and packaging; organic and garden waste; commercial waste |
| Textiles | Clothes, doonas, woollen blankets, pillows and padded textiles |
| Building and hazardous | Construction and demolition materials; asbestos; explosives, ammunition or fireworks; medical waste |
| Large and bulky items | Upholstery and carpets; furniture; solar panels; fuel-based items such as lawn mowers and heaters; large household appliances such as fridges, freezers and washing machines |
Note that household linen is accepted, but doonas, blankets and pillows are not, so sort your textiles before you drive over.
How does the drive-through work?
- You drive through the event site and drop off the accepted items at the designated collection points.
- Event staff will direct vehicles and assist participants; follow the traffic management directions.
- Stay in your vehicle unless event staff direct you otherwise.
- You may be asked to provide proof of Gold Coast residency.

How do I get there?
The event is in the Overflow Car Park at the Carrara Sports Precinct, off Alabaster Drive in Carrara 4211. The City’s listing gives its standard advice to use public transport, walking or cycling where you can, and says that if you arrive by public transport you should approach event staff on site, who will direct you to the right area. Because the event is a drive-through, check the listing for access arrangements if you are not driving. The City adds that if you have specific accessibility requirements you should tell event staff when you arrive.

Who do I ask?
The listing gives the City’s recycling team at Recycling@goldcoast.qld.gov.au. For stadium event days in Carrara, see our guide to People First Stadium parking; the Drop and Go event is a separate City event, and the listing does not link it to any stadium event.
