Cowboys and Country at Historic Rivermill in Mount Nathan is a free country and western day on Saturday 7 November 2026, with live country music at 11:30am, line dancing, a whip-cracking show and mechanical bull rides. The City and Rivermill disagree on the start time and the parking cost, so check before you go.
This brief uses the City of Gold Coast’s What’s On Gold Coast listing and the Historic Rivermill website, both read on 27 October 2026. A second Cowboys and Country day is listed for Saturday 5 December.
What is on, and when does it start?
The City’s listing says the event runs from 8am to 3pm and describes live country music across the gardens and paddocks beside the Coomera River, with Newcastle country singer-songwriter Piper Butcher performing live at 11:30am. It also lists line dancing on the lawn, a whip-cracking show and mechanical bull rides, and between sets horse rides, feeding alpacas and farm animals, a reptile show, turtle feeding, a jumping castle for children and market stalls. Food and drinks are for sale on the day.
Historic Rivermill’s home page lists the same Saturday as a Country Music and Spit Roast Festival at 10:00 AM, a Cowboys and Country special with Piper Butcher live at 11:30am, line dancing, a spit roast, horse rides, and animal and turtle feeding. It does not give an end time. If you plan to arrive early or late, phone Rivermill to confirm the hours.

Is it free, and what does parking cost?
Both sources give free entry to the grounds. They differ on parking:
| Source | What it says about parking on 7 November |
|---|---|
| City of Gold Coast What’s On listing | Parking is $5 per vehicle, paid on arrival |
| Historic Rivermill website, 7 November entry | Free parking, with an optional $5 donation to Nerang Scouts on arrival |
| Historic Rivermill website, 5 December entry | $5 parking per vehicle, payable on arrival |
Rivermill’s quick facts say free entry and free parking. Bring a few dollars in case the $5 applies, and ask at the gate which it is. Rivermill’s contact number on the City’s listing is 07 3703 1307.
How do I get to Historic Rivermill?
The address is 950 Beaudesert Nerang Road, Mount Nathan 4211. Rivermill’s site describes an easy country drive through Mount Nathan at the foot of Tamborine Mountain, about 30 minutes from the Gold Coast, 45 minutes from Tweed Heads and 1 hour from Brisbane. The City’s listing says public transport access is limited and recommends a rideshare or private vehicle. Our guide to Tamborine-Oxenford Road works covers the hinterland roads nearby; Rivermill is on Beaudesert Nerang Road, not on that road, so check QLDTraffic for your route.

Can I bring food, and what else should I know?
Rivermill’s FAQ says all food and drinks are served fresh from its riverside café, and asks visitors not to bring their own; it offers booked riverside picnics instead. It says some experiences, such as horse rides, are booked ahead, so check the Rivermill site if you want a ride on the day. It lists baby changing and says the property is open seven days, with hours that vary by season. Rivermill adds that it closes only over the Christmas and New Year break.

What else is on at Rivermill?
Rivermill’s page lists Halloween at Rivermill on Saturday 31 October and Sunday 1 November, described as free and walk-in with dress-up and trick or treat at the café, then meeting the animals. It also lists a Brains and Bagels workshop for parents on Wednesday 25 November for $49 and the Cowboys and Country day on Saturday 5 December.
