Geelong City Market runs every Saturday from 9am to 2pm on Little Malop Street Central, between Yarra and Moorabool streets, and it is free to walk through. The next market is Saturday 31 October 2026, and central Geelong parking is free on weekends within the signed limits.

When is the next Geelong City Market?

The market’s own website says “Every Saturday 9am-2pm”. The City of Greater Geelong’s event page lists the same hours and gives a run of dates from 7 February 2026 to 19 December 2026. It shows the next five and hides three more behind a “show more dates” link.

Date Hours
Saturday 31 October 2026 9am to 2pm
Saturday 7 November 2026 9am to 2pm
Saturday 14 November 2026 9am to 2pm
Saturday 21 November 2026 9am to 2pm
Saturday 28 November 2026 9am to 2pm

Those five dates are the ones the City shows without expanding the list, as read on 28 October 2026. The City’s page says “Various dates” rather than “every Saturday”, so if you are planning around a particular weekend in December, check the market’s website first. The listed run ends on 19 December 2026, and nothing on either page says what happens after that.

Saturday 21 November is also the night of Christmas Opening Night on the waterfront. The market is a daytime event that finishes at 2pm, so it does not overlap with the evening program on the waterfront.

Where exactly is it?

The market sets up on Little Malop Street Central in the Geelong city centre, postcode 3220. The market’s website describes the site as “between Yarra & Moorabool streets”. The City’s event page gives the address as Little Malop Street Central, Geelong VIC 3220 and links to a map and directions.

Is it free, and do I need to book?

The City’s event page lists the cost as free. Neither the City’s page nor the market’s website mentions tickets or registration for visitors; the only registration button is for stallholders. You pay for what you buy from the stalls.

Where can I park?

The market’s website gives two pieces of parking advice. First, within central Geelong, parking is free on weekends as per signed limits. That means the time limits on the signs still apply even though you do not pay. Second, it says there is “ample parking and accessible parking” in the Market Square car park, entered from Yarra Street.

Market Square is a private car park, and the City’s central Geelong parking map lists it at 600 spaces. For how the meters, time limits and public holiday rules work across the centre, see our guide to central Geelong parking. The market does not publish a charge for the Market Square car park on its homepage, so check the signs at the entry before you drive in.

Question What the sources say
Is street parking free on Saturday? Yes, within signed limits, according to the market’s website
Where is the Market Square entrance? Yarra Street
Are there accessible bays? Yes, in the Market Square car park, according to the market
What does the Market Square car park cost? Not stated on the market’s website; read the signs on entry

Can I get there by train or bus?

Neither the City nor the market publishes a Saturday transport plan for the market itself. Our guide to getting from Melbourne to Geelong by train covers the V/Line trains and the fares and timetables to check for your trip. For local buses, use the Public Transport Victoria journey planner on the day, since Saturday timetables differ from weekdays.

What is on sale?

The market describes itself as a produce, food, drink and creatives market. Its own words are “world class produce, food and beverage offerings at its core”, with other stalls that show the region’s creativity, culture and attractions. The stallholder list changes from week to week. The list the website showed on 28 October was labelled as the stallholder list for 31 October, and it included:

  • Hot and ready food: Brat Haus German Sausages, Gourmet Pies, Mavs Greek Restaurant, Haus of Khaosoi, Vasili’s Chili
  • Baking and sweets: Two Tins Patisserie, Luna Cookies, The Fudgeman, Pretty Sweets and Delights, Inner West Swedish Baker, Amazed Gluten Free
  • Drinks: Danny Boy Distillery, Haiver Spirits, In Season Juices
  • Pantry and meat: Geelong Region Olives, Mr Bees Manuka, The Bush Honey Co, LJs Quality Meats, Makin’ Bacon, Stonylink Ag pasture free range eggs, Oborodo Tofu
  • Pets: Canine Crunchies and Claws and Tail
  • Flowers and berries: Whimsical Wildflowers and Yarra Valley Berries

The site also lists a Geelong City Market Local Fresh Produce Co-op, whose members it names as Pindatoes Produce, Bellagreen Organics, VJ Panetta, Stormhaven Produce, Tyalla Farm, Woodgrove and Farm My School. There is a CoGG Community Stall as well, which is the City’s own stall.

What is on this Saturday, 31 October?

Besides the stalls, the market’s homepage lists a cooking demonstration and music for the weekend it was showing on 28 October:

Time What Where
9am Marcus Hayden Forte Buskers Stage
11am “At the Nisbets Kitchen”: a classic Caesar salad cooked with ingredients from the market Listed under “More than a Market”
11:30am Farah Forte Buskers Stage

The page does not put a date next to this programme, only the words “this weekend” in the cooking blurb, so treat it as the lineup for the market on 31 October and check the site that morning. Stage acts and demonstrations change from week to week.

How long has the market been running?

It launched in late October 2025 and, according to the City’s announcement of 20 October, was due to mark its first birthday on Saturday 24 October 2026 with the Lara Big Band, Geelong Comedy Festival performers, a shared cake for stallholders and a communal “MARKET OPEN!” cheer before trading began. The City’s announcement on 20 October describes the market as a weekly gathering where thousands of visitors shop, eat and meet the people behind the stalls.

The City gave two figures in that announcement. Economic data showed the market injected an estimated $8.3 million into the local economy in its first seven months, and the 2026–27 Budget includes $128,000 to back the market for a second year. The market is run by Barwon Events, whose co-founders are Simon Toohey and Kieran Blood, in partnership with the City.

How do stallholders join?

The market says it is curating a mix of weekly vendors in food, drink, design, arts and experience, and asks anyone who “represents quality, authenticity, locality and excellence” to use the Stallholder Registration button on its website. General questions go to geelongcitymarket@barwonevents.com.au. The site does not give a fee schedule or a selection timeline, so ask before you plan around a particular date.

What should I check before I go?

  • The market’s website on the morning, for that week’s stallholders, stage times and any change to the day
  • The parking signs on the street or at the Market Square entrance on Yarra Street
  • Whether you want to come early: the market starts at 9am and the buskers’ first set is at 9am on 31 October
  • Your plans for the rest of the weekend; for events at the football ground, see our guide to getting to GMHBA Stadium
