Darwin International Airport has three car parks, and the first 10 minutes in the Short Stay car park, right in front of the terminal, are free. Beyond that, a day costs $54.00 in Short Stay, $45.00 in Long Stay Plus and $37.00 in Long Stay Saver, according to the airport’s own price tables. This guide sets out the car parks, the prices, how booking and payment work, and the rules for dropping off and picking up, using the airport’s pages checked on 7 November 2026.
Which car park is closest to the Darwin Airport terminal?
The airport’s parking page describes all three car parks as “touchless”: they use licence plate recognition, so there is no ticket to take and, if you booked online, no pay station to visit.
| Car park | Walk to the terminal | Where to enter |
|---|---|---|
| Short Stay (and pick-up) | 1 to 2 minutes; directly in front of the terminal | Right-hand lane on Henry Wrigley Drive |
| Long Stay Plus | 3 to 5 minutes; to the left of the terminal | Fenton Court |
| Long Stay Saver | 6 minutes undercover, or the free shuttle; behind Long Stay Plus | Pedersen Road |
The airport warns that at peak times such as holidays, Long Stay Plus can reach capacity. In that case it says drivers can go on to the Long Stay Saver car park on Pedersen Road. At Long Stay Saver there is a phone near the entry: pick it up to call the free shuttle if you do not want to walk.

How much does it cost to park at Darwin Airport?
The airport publishes a price comparison on its parking page. A note above the tables says the prices came into effect from 1 July 2025, and the page still showed them on 7 November 2026. These are the rates for the first part of each table.
| Stay | Short Stay | Long Stay Plus | Long Stay Saver |
|---|---|---|---|
| Up to 10 minutes | $0.00 | not listed | $0.00 (up to 30 minutes) |
| 10 to 60 minutes | $12.00 | not listed | not listed |
| 1 to 2 hours | $18.00 | not listed | not listed |
| 2 to 3 hours | $25.00 | not listed | not listed |
| 3 to 4 hours | $26.00 | not listed | not listed |
| 4 to 10 hours | $46.00 | not listed | not listed |
| 1 day | $54.00 | $45.00 | $37.00 |
| 2 days | $90.00 | $75.00 | $55.00 |
| 3 days | $118.00 | $101.00 | $73.00 |
| 4 days | $154.00 | $114.00 | $81.00 |
| 5 days | $186.00 | $128.00 | $88.00 |
| 6 days | $221.00 | $150.00 | $90.00 |
| 7 days | $251.00 (7 or more days) | $172.00 | $92.00 |
| Each additional day | $33.00 | $24.00 | $14.00 |
The airport’s tables go further for the long-stay car parks. Long Stay Plus runs to 14 days at $341.00, and Long Stay Saver runs to 14 days at $169.00; the airport lists day-by-day prices in between, including $244.00 for 10 days in Plus and $129.00 for 10 days in Saver.

What happens if I stay more than 10 minutes in Short Stay?
Within 10 minutes, the airport says you do not need to validate your ticket at a pay station in the terminal when you leave. If you stay longer than 10 minutes, you have to pay at a pay station or by credit card at the exit station. The airport describes the Short Stay car park as the place for a quick pick-up, but it is also the place for the 10 to 60 minute band, which costs $12.00.
Can I pre-book, and how does the booking work?
Yes. The airport says online pre-booking earns “great discounts compared to our drive-up rates” but its pages do not state the discount. The parking FAQ sets out the rules that matter once you have a booking:
| Question | What the airport says |
|---|---|
| Changing a booking | You can change it online up to 2 hours before your booking’s entry time, through Manage My Booking with your email and booking ID. If you cannot, email parking@darwinairport.com.au before you enter |
| Which car park | The booking only works in the car park you selected; park in the right one to avoid being charged again. The booking confirmation email shows which one |
| Forgotten QR code | The system recognises your number plate first. If the boom gate does not rise, press the intercom at the entry and the operator will check your booking manually, or have the confirmation resent through Manage My Booking |
| Gate asks for a ticket | Check that your entry date and time are correct; arriving earlier than your booking will not be recognised. Take a ticket and email your details to the airport, or use the intercom |
| Different registration | You can still enter in a different vehicle or with a different registration from the one you gave online; you only need the QR code |
How do I pay for airport parking?
Online bookings are payable by credit card only. If you do not have a credit card, the FAQ says you can pay cash at any pay station inside the terminal and at the Long Stay Saver car park. Payment at the exit gates is by Mastercard or Visa only. For problems at a boom gate or pay station, press the help button; the airport says its call centre is available 24 hours a day.

Where can I drop off or pick up a passenger?
The airport’s pick-up and drop-off page says its designated kerbside zones are for immediate drop-off or pick-up only, with a maximum wait of two minutes. The driver must stay with the vehicle. A vehicle left unattended is subject to an immediate fine and may be towed away.
If you will be longer than two minutes, or your passenger is not ready, the airport says to use one of the car parks instead and recommends Short Stay, where the first 10 minutes are free. Its suggestions for pick-ups are to ask the person to text or call when they are ready, and to use the flight tracker on the airport’s website for real-time arrival information. It also tells drivers to allow additional time to travel to and from the airport.

What if I do not want to drive?
The airport’s transport options page lists taxis and rideshares, shuttles, private hire, car rental and coach operators. One of the shuttles is the Darwin City Airport Shuttle, which the page says serves a list of CBD hotels, including the Hilton Garden Inn and Hilton Darwin, Mindil Beach Resort Casino, the Adina and Vibe hotels at Darwin Waterfront, and Novotel Darwin CBD, with more listed at the booking kiosk.
| Darwin City Airport Shuttle | What the airport says |
|---|---|
| Book | Online, or at the kiosk outside Carousel 1, near the exit |
| Where to board | The rideshare lane in the drop-off zone |
| Timing | Services are timed to coincide with major flight arrivals |
| Door-to-door runs | The page says dedicated door-to-door hotel runs “will be introduced in the coming weeks”, with no date |
Guests of the Darwin Airport Resorts can use a separate shuttle between the terminal and their accommodation, which also runs to the Long Stay Saver car park; the page says it is only available to guests of Accor Darwin Airport Hotels.

Who do I contact about airport parking?
The airport’s parking team is available Monday to Friday between 8am and 4pm on 1800 814 823 or at parking@darwinairport.com.au. If you are in a car park and need urgent help, press the help button at a pay station or boom gate.
