You can get to the 2026 Picklebet Wodonga Gold Cup on Friday 27 November on a free bus from either Wodonga or Albury, park on course for free, and get in for $25 if you buy General Admission ahead of time. The club says the City of Wodonga has a public holiday for the day.
This guide is based on Racing Wodonga’s own Gold Cup page and its frequently asked questions page, both read on 28 October 2026. Racing Wodonga is on Country Racing Victoria’s Racing.com site. Where the club has not published something for 2026, we say so rather than guess.
When is the Wodonga Gold Cup and what time should I arrive?
The Gold Cup is on Friday 27 November 2026, the last Friday of November, and the club describes it as the end of the 2026 Spring Racing Carnival. The club’s page lists the time as 11:30am, and the free buses start running at 11:30am, so that is the earliest time anything is on the move.
The club has not published a race-by-race program for this year in the pages we read. Its general FAQ says gates traditionally open at 11am and the first race traditionally starts at 1pm, and adds that the exact times are finalised a few days before each race day. Treat those as the usual pattern, not a 2026 promise, and check the club’s Gold Cup page in the week of the event.
The 2026 day also has a concert. After the last race, a band named Bermuda Social plays the After Party Concert, according to the club. The last buses leave the course at 6:45pm and 6:55pm, so if you plan to stay for the concert, work out your way home before you go.
How do the free buses work?
There are two free routes, and the club’s page lists every stop. Both are shown below with the times printed on the club’s page.
| Route | Outbound to the racecourse | Stops | Back from the racecourse |
|---|---|---|---|
| Wodonga | 11:30am and 11:45am from Wodonga Raiders Football Ground | Wodonga Raiders Football Ground; Water Tower on Hovell Street; Quest Wodonga; Wodonga Racecourse | 6:45pm and 6:55pm, same stops in reverse |
| Albury | 11:30am and 12:00pm from the Botanic Gardens bus stop | Botanic Gardens bus stop; QE2 Square on Dean Street; Wodonga Racecourse | 6:45pm, same stops in reverse |
Two things stand out in that table. First, the Albury route has only one return bus, at 6:45pm, where the Wodonga route has two. Second, there are only two outbound services on each route. The club’s page tells people to take the bus home and says that if we all get home safely, everyone wins.

Which stop is closest to me in Albury?
The Albury route has two pick-up points. The Botanic Gardens bus stop is the first stop, with buses at 11:30am and 12:00pm. QE2 Square on Dean Street is the second stop. The club’s page does not say what time the bus reaches the second stop, so be at the stop early and not at the scheduled departure time from the Botanic Gardens.

Which stop is closest to me in Wodonga?
The Wodonga route starts at the Wodonga Raiders Football Ground, then stops at the Water Tower on Hovell Street, Quest Wodonga and finally the racecourse. The club’s page does not give times for the middle stops, so the safest plan is to be at your stop before the scheduled departure from the football ground, which is 11:30am for the first bus and 11:45am for the second.

Can I drive and park at the racecourse?
Yes. The racecourse is at the corner of Wilson Street and Hamilton Smith Drive, Wodonga, Victoria 3690. Racing Wodonga’s FAQ says car parking is free and plentiful and asks drivers to follow the car park attendants on the day. That FAQ is a general page for the club’s race days, not a page written only for the Gold Cup, so expect the attendants to direct you to a specific area rather than letting you choose.
If you are bringing a group in a minibus, the FAQ says space is available in most cases but asks you to check with the club first, because you may be given a designated area away from the general public’s cars. The club’s phone number is (02) 6056 1214 and its email is info@racingwodonga.com.au.
Is there a train to the racecourse?
The pages we read do not mention a train or a V/Line service for the Gold Cup. The club’s FAQ says to check with the club about public transport for the particular race day, and the Gold Cup page lists only the two free bus routes. If you plan to arrive by train, ask the club which bus stop is closest to where you will be, because its page does not say.

How much does it cost to get in?
General Admission is $25 if you buy before the day and $30 at the gate. The club says that buying ahead lets you beat the queue and save money. The FAQ adds that pre-purchased tickets guarantee entry, and that kids aged 17 and under get in free. Tickets are emailed after full payment, and you can print them or show the QR code on your phone at the gate.
The club also sells packages for groups. Prices on the Gold Cup page are shown as “from” prices, so confirm the final cost when you book.
| Package | From | What the club says | Status on 28 October |
|---|---|---|---|
| General Admission | $25 | Entry ticket; $30 at the gate | On sale |
| Social Marquee | $190 | Trackside at the 200 metre mark, inside the Champions Enclosure; groups of 2, 5 or even 30 | On sale |
| Party Central | $180 | Next to the After Party Concert stage in The Fields; groups of 2, 5 or even 30 | On sale |
| Umbrella Package | $300 | Next to the Members Lawn; groups up to 10 | On sale |
| Catering | $71.5 | Gourmet Grazing and Sandwich Boxes | On sale |
| Track Central Enclosure | $175 | Shaded under the elm trees | Sold out |
| Lawns Precinct | $170 | Marquees on the lawn near the winning post and bookie ring | Sold out |
| Champions Enclosure | $185 | Trackside marquee between the 100 and 200 metre marks | Sold out |
Three of the package types were already marked sold out on the day we checked, which is about a month before the event. If you want a marquee, the Social Marquee, Party Central and Umbrella Package were still on sale, but they may not stay that way.
What can I bring, and what can’t I?
Racing Wodonga’s FAQ sets out the rules for its race days, and they are the best guide we have for the Gold Cup. Check with the club if you are unsure, because the FAQ is a general page.
- Food: you can bring your own picnic. Leave sharp knives and glass at home. Food and drinks are also sold on course.
- Drinks: it is not a BYO alcohol event, but alcohol is sold on course. You can bring non-alcoholic drinks in plastic or cans, and glass is not allowed.
- Shade: you cannot bring your own marquee, large umbrella or shade structure. Fold-up chairs and tables are welcome.
- BBQs: none are offered on course, and portable BBQs are not allowed, because of fire safety.
- Balloons: not allowed, because they can spook the horses.
- Dogs: please leave the dog at home. Assistance dogs have special considerations.
- Smoking: permitted only in the signed designated areas.
- Money: EFTPOS is on course, but the FAQ suggests bringing cash because of queues and limited internet at some venues.
- First aid: there is a first aid office on course on every race day.
If you have booked a marquee, the FAQ says you can decorate it, and asks you to arrive earlier in the day to do it. It also says a club representative may ask you to remove anything inappropriate.

What should I wear, and what is Fashions on the Field?
The club describes the Gold Cup as a day for colour, fun and fashion, and runs the Quest Wodonga Fashions on the Field. The categories listed are Lady of the Day, Millinery Award, Gentleman of the Day and Fashion Forward, and the club says there are prizes in each.
You do not have to enter to come along. The FAQ says the club encourages Country Casual, meaning whatever you are comfortable in, from a shirt and shorts to a dressed-up outfit. The one firm rule is for corporate hospitality guests: neat casual, no thongs or ripped denim, with men in a collared shirt.
Is it okay for kids?
Kids aged 17 and under get in free. The FAQ says Country Racing clubs try to provide free activities for children, but tells families to check with the club about what is on and when. The pages we read do not list kids’ activities for the Gold Cup, so call the club on (02) 6056 1214 if that decides your day. Remember that balloons are banned and that glass is not allowed if you bring a picnic.
What is on all day?
The club lists live music, giant screens and the After Party Concert with Bermuda Social, plus Fashions on the Field. There is a bookie ring on course, according to the FAQ, and the pages we read do not mention a TAB at Wodonga. The FAQ says most racecourses in the network have public grandstands and that they fill quickly, so arrive early if you want a seat. For guaranteed shade in warm weather, the club recommends buying an umbrella or marquee package.

Quick plan for the day
- Buy General Admission online ($25 ahead, $30 at the gate), or a package if you want a marquee.
- Pick a bus from the table above, and be at the stop before the departure time.
- Check Racing Wodonga’s Gold Cup page in the week of the event for the final race times.
- Pack a picnic and non-alcoholic drinks in plastic or cans, a fold-up chair and some cash. Leave glass, knives, balloons, a BBQ and the dog at home.
- Plan your trip home before you go: the buses back leave at 6:45pm and 6:55pm from Wodonga, and 6:45pm from Albury.
