Centre trading hours for Christmas, which the centre’s opening hours page did not show when we read it, and any change to car park hours over the holiday period

Burnside Village at 447 Portrush Road, Glenside, offers free undercover parking all year round, entered from Portrush Road or Sydney Street, with a 2 metre height limit. The car park has seven colour-coded sections across Basements 1 and 2 and the ground level, a light system that shows free bays, and seven RAA electric vehicle chargers with the first hour free for shoppers.

This guide follows the centre’s parking page, getting here page and accessibility page, all read on 7 November 2026. We say where the pages do not answer a question.

Is parking free at Burnside Village?

Yes. The centre says it offers free undercover car parking all year round, and its getting here page repeats that there is free undercover parking. The page gives no time limit, no validation requirement and no charge. The main entrances to the car park are on Portrush Road and Sydney Street, and the car park is available daily.

What are the car park hours?

The hours depend on which basement section you park in:

Day Basement 1, sections B to F Basement 1 and 2, sections A and H
Weekdays 6:45am to 9:30pm 8:00am to 11:00pm
Saturday 6:45am to 6:00pm 8:00am to 11:00pm
Sunday 8:30am to 6:00pm 8:30am to 10:00pm

The page does not explain what happens to a car left in a section after its closing time, and it does not give public holiday hours. The centre says the clearance height for the undercover car park is 2 metres, so vehicles taller than that cannot enter.

How do the car park lights work?

The centre’s parking guidance system uses a light above each bay:

Light Meaning
Green Available park
Blue Accessible park
Pink Parents with pram park (wide pram parks)
Red Occupied park

Which car park section is closest to what I need?

The centre colour-codes its car park sections and says what each one is close to. This is the centre’s own guide:

The centre’s page runs the Green and Yellow descriptions together, so we have split them where the text suggests; check the signs in the car park for your section.

Can I charge an electric car at Burnside Village?

Yes. The centre says it is part of the RAA charge network and offers shoppers their first hour of charging free at all 7 electric vehicle charging stations in Basement 1; standard fees apply after the first hour. The RAA chargers are in Red section D, near the Coles travelator, and Green section B, near the Sydney Street entrance. The centre says to use the Chargefox app to check live availability and to charge, and that RAA members can get 10% off EV charging fees through their Chargefox profile. The page does not give the charging speed or the fee.

Which buses go to Burnside Village?

The centre says public transport is easily accessible from Greenhill Road, about a 20-minute bus ride from the city. Its getting here page lists these routes:

Route Runs between

140 and 144 City, Burnside Village, ending at the corner of Portrush Road and Glen Osmond Road, and back

The page links to the Adelaide Metro 820 timetable and suggests Google Maps transit directions for other suburbs. We have not checked the routes against the Adelaide Metro journey planner, so check your trip and the return time there. By car, the centre says it is about 10 minutes from the Adelaide CBD and about 20 minutes from Adelaide Airport, and about 5 kilometres from the CBD. For taxi drop-off, the centre says its Concierge desk can book you a taxi at any time during trading hours.

What about Santa and Christmas at Burnside Village?

The Santa photo sessions and Santa Paws sessions run from 16 November, with a ticketed Santa event on 14 and 15 November. Our guide to Burnside Village Santa 2026 covers the booking terms, the visiting hours and the Sunday morning gap between Santa’s hours and the car park opening. The centre’s own pages give no separate Christmas car park hours.

What has not been confirmed?

  • Centre trading hours. The opening hours page did not show the core trading hours when we read it, and it says major and dining retailers extend into the evening.
  • Whether car park hours change in the lead-up to Christmas or on public holidays.
  • Charging speed and fees after the first free hour at the RAA chargers.
  • The Concierge desk’s phone number, which the getting here page does not show.
  • Bus timetables and the return times from the centre.

We will update this guide if the centre changes its pages. Check the parking page on the day if your trip depends on a section’s hours.
