Bankstown Theatre Company is staging the musical Gypsy at the Bryan Brown Theatre from Friday 6 November to Sunday 15 November 2026, with seven shows in total. Tickets cost $56 for an adult and $50 for concession, student, child and group bookings, plus a booking fee, and the theatre says its small car park under the building is free for up to four hours.

This guide is based on the Bryan Brown Theatre’s own event page and contact page, both read on Tuesday 3 November 2026. It covers the dates, prices, how to book, and how to get there. All times are Sydney time (daylight saving).

When are the seven shows?

Date Session
Friday 6 November 2026 7:30pm
Saturday 7 November 2026 1:30pm and 7:30pm
Sunday 8 November 2026 1:30pm
Saturday 14 November 2026 1:30pm and 7:30pm
Sunday 15 November 2026 1:30pm

The theatre lists a running time of 150 minutes. Counting from the start times above, an evening show would finish at about 10pm and a matinee at about 4pm, though the theatre does not say whether that includes an interval. The tourism site lists the run as 6 to 15 November with sessions at 1:30pm and 7:30pm, which matches.

What is Gypsy about?

The theatre’s page says Gypsy premiered on Broadway in 1959, with a book by Arthur Laurents, music by Jule Styne and lyrics by Stephen Sondheim, and that it draws loosely on the memoir of the burlesque star Gypsy Rose Lee. It is set in the fading vaudeville world of the 1920s and 1930s. The story follows Rose Hovick, a mother who pushes her younger daughter June towards stardom while her shy older daughter Louise is overlooked. When June leaves, Rose turns her energy to Louise, and with vaudeville dying the family moves into burlesque, where Louise becomes Gypsy Rose Lee.

The theatre’s About page describes a 300-seat venue with a cafe and function rooms, running live music, comedy, musicals, local community shows and kids’ entertainment, and says the theatre was named after the actor Bryan Brown in September 2013. The production is presented by Bankstown Theatre Company. The theatre’s page does not name the cast or the director, so this guide does not either. The page describes the show as a study of ambition, family and identity.

Full-time student (under 25) $50 plus booking fee
Child (under 18) $50 plus booking fee
Group of 8 or more $50 plus booking fee

The theatre does not say how much the booking fee is. The same contact page lists hire and booking enquiries on the same number and email, Monday to Friday, 9am to 4pm, and the email address is bryanbrowntheatre@cbcity.nsw.gov.au. Online sales close 2 hours before the start of each show. The box office also sells tickets from 1 hour before the show on the day, subject to availability. The theatre’s contact page says the box office is open for phone and in-person enquiries Monday to Friday, 9am to 3:30pm. For wheelchair-accessible seating the theatre asks you to call (02) 9707 9404, and the same number is given for booking help.

Where do I park near the Bryan Brown Theatre?

The theatre’s contact page lists several car parks, with their free time limits:

Car park Free for Notes
Under the theatre, entry off Rickard Road Up to 4 hours Limited: 40 spaces. Entry is opposite the Medical Centre, just after the Western Sydney University campus
Civic Tower, 66/72 Rickard Road Up to 4 hours Levels P3 and P4, and certain areas of P5
Marion Street car park, 40 Marion Street Up to 3 hours About a 7 to 8 minute walk
Little Saigon Plaza, 53 Kitchener Parade Up to 3 hours
Bankstown Central Up to 2 hours Entries from Stacey Street, Rickard Road, Jacob Street, Lady Cutler Avenue and North Terrace

A 150-minute show plus arrival time means the two-hour limit at Bankstown Central would run out before a matinee ends. That comparison is our own arithmetic from the theatre’s figures; the Civic Tower and the car park under the theatre are listed at 4 hours. Access parking is available in the underground car park near the lifts.

Bankstown Station is served by the new Southwest Metro, which began carrying passengers at 4:31am on Friday 30 October 2026, according to the NSW Government,. The NSW Government release names Punchbowl, Wiley Park, Lakemba, Belmore, Campsie and Canterbury among the stations on the line from Bankstown through the CBD. This guide has not checked late timetables.

Is the theatre accessible?

The theatre lists the event as Access Friendly. Its contact page says a lift in the main foyer connects the underground car park, the cafe and the Bryan Brown Theatre on the ground floor with the function rooms on Level 2, and that there are accessible toilets on the ground floor and on Level 2. Accessible seating is available in the theatre. For patrons with limited mobility the theatre recommends telling the box office when you book so you are seated appropriately.
