Where do I park and how do I get in?

Visitor parking is in The Alfred Centre car park, called P1, and on the ground floor of the multi-level car park. The Alfred Centre car park is underground on two split levels, next to and under Area H. The visitor car park is reached from Centre Lane, an internal roadway off Commercial Road between Area H (The Alfred Centre) and Area K (The Burnet Tower). Traffic approaching along Commercial Road from either direction can turn into Centre Lane.

When you leave, traffic from Centre Lane may only turn left into Commercial Road. If you want to head east, the hospital says you can then use the dedicated U-turn zone in front of the main entrance. The car park office is on (03) 9076 3244.

Question What the hospital says
When is it open? Daily from 6am to 10.30pm
How tall can my vehicle be? The maximum height clearance is 2.1 metres

What if I leave after 10.30pm? See security in the Main Hospital. They escort you into the building; pay as usual, then drive to the exit and security opens the door

The hospital suggests arriving early or using other local parking options if you can.

Who can get the concession rate?

Concession rate parking is for holders of valid Pension Concession Cards, Health Care Cards and Disability Parking Permits. Before you leave the hospital, show your ticket and your concession card at one of these places:

Location Hours
The Alfred Centre Reception (Area H) 7am to 6pm
The Alfred Main Reception (Area A) 8am to 6pm
Car park office Weekdays 7am to 7pm; closed weekends and public holidays

The Alfred also offers concession rate parking for people who can show financial hardship. The hospital says to talk to your healthcare team for more information.

Where is disabled parking?

The hospital says its disabled car parking areas are undercover, secure and easy to access. Disabled parking permit holders can use The Alfred Centre car park (P1) and the ground floor of the multi-level visitor car park (P2), and reduced fees are available. Permits come from local city councils: you collect the form from a council office or website and take it to your GP before a permit is authorised.
