Two councils in Adelaide’s north have Halloween plans for families this week. The City of Salisbury runs a $5 Halloween Spooktacular at the Salisbury Community Hub from 4:30pm to 7pm on Friday 30 October, and the City of Tea Tree Gully runs a free, self-guided Halloween treat trail across the council area until 10pm on Saturday 31 October. This guide sets out what each one involves, what you need to book and what the councils do not say.

It follows the City of Salisbury Spooktacular page and the City of Tea Tree Gully treat trail page, both read on Tuesday 27 October 2026. South Australia is on daylight saving (UTC+10:30), so every time below is Adelaide time.

What is the Halloween Spooktacular at Salisbury?

The City of Salisbury describes it as an evening of activities and family fun at the library, held at the Salisbury Community Hub, 34 Church Street, Salisbury SA 5108. It runs from 4:30pm to 7pm on Friday 30 October. The ticket is $5 and the page says bookings are required through Eventbrite. The City says each ticket covers all activities for the night, so you can do as many or as few as you like.

The City’s page shows no sold-out notice, so check Eventbrite for ticket availability.

What is on, and at what time?

The City lists these activities for the night. Only some have set times:

Halloween cookie decorating 5pm to 6:30pm
Pizza From 5:30pm until it runs out
Halloween craft with Move it Fitness No time given

The City also promises “loads of extra Halloween fun and surprises”.

Is there parking or a bus to the Community Hub?

The Spooktacular page gives an address and nothing else about getting there: no car park, no bus stop, no drop-off point. We have not found an official statement for this event, so we cannot say where to park. Use the Adelaide Metro journey planner with “34 Church Street, Salisbury” as the destination if you plan to take public transport.

What is the Tea Tree Gully Halloween treat trail?

It is a new event from the City of Tea Tree Gully, which the council describes as an interactive treat trail map. Residents register their homes if they are decorating their front yard or handing out treats, and everyone can use the map to find decorated houses and family-friendly Halloween events across the council area. The City says it is for people who want to make Halloween “bigger, better and easier to navigate”.

When should we go trick or treating?

The City says trick or treating typically starts around 5pm or 6pm. Because Halloween falls on a Saturday this year, it suggests you may want to start a little earlier. It also points to local community events as a way to be part of the fun.

The page tells you to use the trail map to find houses, and links to a map from the page. It also says a map of participating displays will be provided “closer to the event date”, so the list of homes may still be growing in the final days.

Which doors are open to trick or treaters?

The City offers two printable posters: “Yes, trick and treaters welcome” and “No trick or treaters please”. For decorations, the council says to keep them fun, festive and family-friendly, with pumpkins, lanterns, skeletons, ghosts and the undead on front porches and entryways, and it encourages environmentally friendly decorations where possible.

What photo do I upload if I register my home?

Registration asks for a photo of your decorated home or business. The City’s tips are to use a smartphone or basic digital camera, shoot in landscape orientation, and photograph around twilight, when the light suits lit-up decorations. It says to skip the flash because it can change how colours appear, and to steady the camera on a tripod, fence or bin because a longer exposure is needed to capture lights. It also asks you not to photograph other people without their permission. Home registrations close on Friday 30 October.

Is anything else on for younger children?

The City of Tea Tree Gully’s events list includes “Mini monster gym at Turramurra for ages up to 5”, a Halloween-themed session of the junior gym program at the Turramurra Recreation Centre. The list shows more than one date, and we have not checked a booking page for it, so check the council’s events page for dates and cost.

What do the council pages not say?

Neither page answers a few questions families tend to ask, so we have left them open rather than guess:

  • Whether Spooktacular tickets are still on sale, and how many there are.
  • An age range for the Spooktacular. The City mentions “little ghouls and goblins” for the soft play area, but gives no ages for the night.
  • Where to park at the Community Hub, or which bus stop is closest.
  • How many homes are on the Tea Tree Gully trail map, because the City says the map was to be published closer to the date.
  • What each home hands out. The City asks residents who are not giving out treats to say so with a poster.

Which one should we choose?
