The best-value place to park for the Adelaide Central Market is UPark Central Market, the City of Adelaide car park directly above the Market at 60 Gouger Street. On a Saturday the drive-up rate is $2 for the first hour during Market hours, then $7 to 2 hours and $13 to 3 hours, with a $50 daily maximum. The car park is open 24 hours and has a 2.06 metre height limit.

This guide follows the Adelaide Central Market parking page, its getting here page and the UPark Central Market page, all read on 7 November 2026. Where the pages do not agree or do not answer a question, we say so.

When is the Adelaide Central Market open?

Parking prices at UPark Central Market depend on whether the Market is trading, so start with the hours the Market lists:

Day Market trading hours
Monday Closed
Tuesday 7:00am to 5:30pm
Wednesday 9:00am to 5:30pm (optional trading, a range of traders)
Thursday 9:00am to 5:30pm
Friday 7:00am to 9:00pm
Saturday 7:00am to 3:00pm
Sunday Closed

The Market is on Gouger Street in the Adelaide CBD. The council-run car park is managed by the City of Adelaide, not by the Market, so parking questions go to UPark.

How much does UPark Central Market cost?

UPark lists the Saturday drive-up rates in full. The first hour is $2 only during Market standard hours.

Stay (Saturday, drive-up) Price
0 to 1 hour (Market hours only) $2
1 to 2 hours $7
2 to 3 hours $13
3 to 4 hours $20
4 to 5 hours $30
5 to 6 hours $40
Daily maximum or lost ticket $50

Other fixed prices on the UPark page:

When Drive-up price Conditions
Weeknight, Monday to Thursday $8 Enter after 6:00pm and exit before 6:00am the next day
Friday night $8 Enter after 9:30pm and exit before 6:00am the next day
Saturday night $8 Enter after 6:00pm and exit before 6:30am the next day
Sunday flat rate $8 Enter after 6:00am and exit before 6:30am on Monday
Public holiday $8 Charged midnight to midnight; excludes any Saturday public holiday or Market trading day
Early bird, Monday only $19 Enter before 9:30am and exit before 7:00pm on the same day

UPark says day rates start at 6:30am each day and end at 6:00pm Monday to Thursday and 9:30pm on Fridays, and that night rates apply from 6:00pm in addition to any drive-up fees already incurred. It also lists a prebook early bird saver at $17 (Monday to Thursday, enter before 9:30am, exit before 7:00pm) and a prebook night rate of $7 (Monday to Saturday, enter after 6:00pm, exit before 6:00am).

The weekday hourly bands are not readable on the UPark page: the lines for Monday to Thursday and for Friday (0 to 1 hour, 1 to 2 hours and so on) show no price when we read it. We have not guessed them. The Market’s page describes UPark Central Market as the best value short-term parking in the city for 0 to 2 hours, but check the current price on the UPark page or at the ticket machine. Entering before 9:30am can qualify you for the early bird rate; the rate only applies if you enter and exit on the same day.

Can I park free at the Adelaide Central Market?

There are three offers in play, and one has already passed its date.

Offer What the pages say Status
First hour free with UPark Plus Free for stays under one hour during Market trading hours at UPark Central Market if you sign up to UPark Plus with the promo code MARKETLOVERS. Longer stays are charged at the normal rate. Without a UPark Plus card the first hour is $2 Listed on both the Market and UPark pages
Two hours free on weekdays Park at UPark Andrew (2 to 8 Andrew Street), take a ticket on entry, validate it at The Market Stall during opening hours before you return to your car. Not available at UPark Central Market The Market lists it for Tuesday to Friday; no end date is given
Three hours free on Saturdays UPark Andrew and UPark Grote (82 Grote Street), validated at The Market Stall before 3pm The page says the offer runs until 30 June 2026, which has passed, so do not count on it

The UPark page also carries a notice: because of works for the Market Square development, there is temporary restricted access to some areas of UPark Central Market, and UPark is offering free parking for Central Market visitors at the nearby UPark Andrew and UPark Grote car parks. The notice has no dates and does not say how to claim the free parking. Before you drive in, check the UPark page, and keep the validation steps from the Market’s page in mind, since they are the only steps either page gives.

How do I get into UPark Central Market?

The council says the car park is entered from Gouger Street (Level 2) or from Grote Street (Level 1). It is open 24 hours a day. The height clearance is 2.06 metres, and the Market’s page says vehicles taller than that must not attempt to enter. UPark Central Market is at 60 Gouger Street.

Detail What the pages say
Entry Gouger Street (Level 2) or Grote Street (Level 1)
Hours Open 24 hours
Height limit 2.06 metres
Number of bays 750 on the Market’s parking page; “over 1,000” on its getting here page
Electric vehicle charging Charging stations at the car park
Bike parking Dedicated spaces at the car park
Pram parks Level 1 and Level 2 above the Market
Disability parking Dedicated disabled car parks; lift, stair, escalator and travellator access to the Market

The two Market pages disagree on the number of bays, so we give both figures and do not rely on either. If you book online, UPark says you may enter up to 30 minutes before or after your booked entry time, and exit up to 1 hour after your booked exit time, with additional rates for late exit.

What if I need step-free access or I am visiting with children?

The Market says all of its entrances are ground level and step-free. There are four public entries from Gouger Street and Grote Street, an entry from Market Lane and the Victoria Square Link, and two entries from Market Plaza to the west; these stay open during Market hours. The entry ways are very wide but can become congested when the Market is busy.

Accessible toilets are in the Western Roadway next to Gouger Dining (on the right-hand side) and in the Western Roadway opposite Stall 76. The Parents Room, in the Western Roadway opposite Gouger Dining, has pram parking, a feeding chair and a change table, and holds one family at a time. The Market also lists dedicated pram parks above the Market on Level 1 and Level 2 of UPark Central Market. An Access Guide, made with Access2Arts and the City of Adelaide, is on the Market’s accessibility page.

What has not been confirmed?

  • Weekday hourly rates at UPark Central Market. The UPark page shows no price for those bands.
  • When the works-related restrictions at UPark Central Market end, and which areas are restricted.
  • Whether the weekday two-hour free-parking offer at UPark Andrew is still running, since the Market’s page gives no end date, and whether any Saturday offer replaced the one that ended on 30 June 2026.
  • The UPark Plus daily capped rate for Monday to Thursday. The page does not show the figure.
  • The number of bays: 750 on one Market page and “over 1,000” on another.

We will update this guide if the pages change. To ask the Market a question, phone (08) 8203 7494. Check the UPark page for the current rate before you park.
