Parking at Sutherland Hospital costs money at all hours, and the first 15 minutes are free. The rate rises through the day to a maximum of $24.20, which is the figure the NSW Health hospital parking app shows for the public rate as of 7 November 2026. Eligible patients and carers can pay a lot less. This guide puts the official pages together: the rates, the concession rates and how to claim them, and the train and bus options.
How much does parking cost at Sutherland Hospital?

The NSW Health app lists the public rates for the hospital. The SESLHD parking page for Sutherland Hospital does not carry a price table, and sends you to the app, so the table below is from the app:
| Time parked | Public rate |
|---|---|
| 0 to 15 minutes | Free |
| 15 minutes to 1 hour | $8.10 |
| 1 to 2 hours | $12.00 |
| 2 to 3 hours | $16.20 |
| 3 to 4 hours | $18.90 |
| 4 to 5 hours | $21.70 |
| Over 5 hours | $24.20 |
| Maximum daily fee | $24.20 |
The app lists the parking as open 24 hours, and the car parks are entered from Kareena Road. It says that limited disabled car parking is available on the hospital campus.
Who pays less, and how much?

NSW Health runs a concession scheme for patients and carers at every public hospital car park where fees apply. The South Eastern Sydney Local Health District (SESLHD) page lists the people who can claim it:
- holders of a Mobility Parking Scheme permit
- holders of a Pensioner Concession Card, a Gold Veterans Affairs Card or a Health Care Card
- ongoing cancer treatment patients
- patients and their carers who must attend for a course of treatment over a period of more than one week
- patients and carers attending more often than twice a week, including carers of long-term patients who visit frequently
- cardiac rehabilitation education and exercise class attendees, daily dressing outpatients and health promotion education class attendees
The page also says that patients and carers who are experiencing financial hardship but do not meet those categories are entitled to concessional parking too. The concession rates listed on the SESLHD page are:
| Concession ticket | Price | Notes from the page |
|---|---|---|
| 0 to 3 hours | Free | |
| 3 hours or more | $6.80 | One exit only per 24 hours |
| 3 day ticket | $13.50 | Frequent use; multiple entries and exits in a 3 day period |
| 7 day ticket | $27.10 | Frequent use; multiple entries and exits in a 7 day period |
Compare that with the public rate: a stay of five hours or more is $24.20 at the public rate and $6.80 on the concession.
How do I claim the concession rate?

The SESLHD page says eligible patients, carers and card holders must present their parking ticket, photo identification and concession card, or a request for concessional rates, at a hospital administrative point before they exit the car park. For Sutherland Hospital, the page gives the enquiry counter at the main entrance of the hospital, open from 8:30am to 6pm, Monday to Sunday. After hours, from 6pm to 10pm Monday to Sunday, you contact the enquiries office. The hospital’s phone number in the app is (02) 9540 7111.
How do I get there by train or bus?

The NSW Health app says Caringbah station is within walking distance of the hospital and Miranda station is also near. It gives no walking times. Buses stop in front of the hospital on Kingsway: routes 477, 478, 962, 969, 971, 977, 985 and 988. For help planning a trip, the app lists the Transport for NSW information line, 131 500. For fares, see our guide to Opal fares and how to pay.

What other help with travel is there?
The app lists three other options. The NSW Community Transport Program has a page on the Transport for NSW website. The Taxi Transport Subsidy Scheme is listed for taxi travel. The Isolated Patients Travel and Accommodation Assistance Scheme, known as IPTAAS, offers financial help for patients and carers travelling more than 200 km one way; your doctor or the hospital social workers can help you apply.
