The City of Blacktown’s Australia Day concert and fireworks at Rooty Hill is free and needs no booking, but cars cannot enter the site after 8:30pm, so if you are driving you need to arrive well before the fireworks. This guide is built from the City’s own event page, which already carries a 2027 traffic notification, and it separates what the City has published for 2027 from what it has not yet announced.
All times are Sydney times. New South Wales is on daylight saving in January, so the clock times here are the clock times on the day.
When and where is the Australia Day concert at Rooty Hill?
The City’s 2027 Australia Day Concert & Fireworks page lists the event for Tuesday 26 January 2027, from 4pm to 9:30pm, at The Rooty Hill on Eastern Road, Rooty Hill. The City describes a family-friendly day with live stage performances, free amusement rides and food stalls, ending with what it calls Western Sydney’s best fireworks display.
| Item | What the City says |
|---|---|
| Date | Tuesday 26 January 2027 |
| Event hours | 4pm to 9:30pm |
| Public entry | Via the Eastern Road gate from 3:30pm |
| Rides | All rides and activities are free; all rides close by 8:30pm |
| Fireworks | FAQ: launch anytime between 9pm and 9:15pm. Traffic notice: commence at 9:15pm |
| Cost | Free, no bookings required |
| Location | The Rooty Hill, Eastern Road, Rooty Hill 2766 |
The two fireworks times on the City’s page are slightly different, one giving a window from 9pm to 9:15pm and the other saying the display commences at 9:15pm. Plan for the earlier time and you will not miss it.

What is on the program, and who is the headliner?
Neither is announced yet. The City’s page has no headliner yet and, under the program and the food and market stalls, only says “Stay tuned for more information!” This guide therefore does not name any performer, ride or food stall, and it will not guess at a running order. When the City publishes the program, this page will be updated.
The City’s page also lists two related items, the Wake Up With The Wildlife Breakfast and the Australia Day Awards. It gives no detail for them on this page, so they are not covered here.
Can I drive, and when does the site close to cars?
Yes. The City’s traffic notification for 26 January 2027 says the concert starts with public entry via the Eastern Road gate from 3:30pm, and an opening in the median strip opposite the gate in Eastern Road allows vehicle access onto the Rooty Hill. The key limit is time: vehicle entry will not be permitted to the Rooty Hill after 8:30pm, and the fireworks start at 9:15pm at the latest.
| Time | What it means for drivers |
|---|---|
| 3:30pm | Public entry opens at the Eastern Road gate |
| 8:30pm | No vehicle entry to the Rooty Hill after this time; rides close; motorists can expect delays in Eastern Road, Francis Road and Rooty Hill Road South |
| 9pm to 9:15pm | Fireworks, per the City’s FAQ |
| After the event | Vehicles parked on the Rooty Hill may leave via Church Street |
The City says to watch for Traffic Control personnel or Police and be prepared to follow their instructions. The FAQ adds that access to the site by car is via Eastern Road.
Which roads are restricted on the day?
The City’s notice lists two kinds of restriction. For vehicles, access through Church Street is restricted to all vehicles except those with event passes. For parking, temporary No Stopping restrictions will be in place on the day along these streets:
| Street | Where the No Stopping restriction applies |
|---|---|
| Eastern Road | Both sides, full length |
| Rooty Hill Road South | Between Cawarra Street and Eastern Road |
| Church Street | Full length |
| Dunsmore Street | One side |
| Francis Road | The southern section between Willis Street and Rooty Hill Road North |
The City’s notice does not say which side of Dunsmore Street is affected, so do not assume. If you plan to leave a car on a nearby street, read the signs on the street itself.
Where do I park, and what is the overflow?
According to the traffic notification, parking will be available at the Rooty Hill. If that parking becomes full, overflow parking will be available at two places, both reached from Eastern Road:
- Blacktown & District Soccer Football Association
- Blacktown International Sports Park
The City’s FAQ says there is limited accessible parking on site and asks people to follow directions from traffic staff on entry at Eastern Road. The City does not state the number of spaces or any parking charge for 2027 on this page.

How do I cross Eastern Road safely?
The City’s notice gives specific crossing points for people on foot. Pedestrians who cross Eastern Road before or after the event should do so at the traffic signals at Rooty Hill Road South or at Blacktown International Sports Park. Anyone who needs to cross Rooty Hill Road South should use the traffic signals at Eastern Road or Evans Road.
That matters most at the end of the night, when the City expects delays on Eastern Road, Francis Road and Rooty Hill Road South from 8:30pm and a crowd will be leaving after the fireworks.
Can I take the train to Rooty Hill?
The City encourages public transport, because on site parking is limited. Its page says the Rooty Hill is a 10 minute walk from Rooty Hill Railway Station. That wording sits in the page’s parking and access section, which still shows last year’s date (Monday 26 January 2026), so treat the walking time as the City’s general description rather than a 2027 update.
The City does not publish train times for the event. Transport for NSW publishes its travel alerts and weekend trackwork, so check both close to the day. The City has not said anything about extra services, so use the Transport for NSW Trip Planner for the services on the day.

The same Eastern Road area hosts the City’s Pasifika Unity Festival on 31 October and 1 November 2026, and the City’s page for that festival says all event parking is at The Rooty Hill, entered via Eastern Road. Our Pasifika Unity Festival guide shows how the City handled parking and roads for that weekend.

What can I bring, and what is banned?
The City’s conditions of entry and FAQ set out the rules. The event is free, but it is licensed and strictly no BYO alcohol is permitted. Alcohol must be purchased and consumed in the licensed bar area.
| Question | City of Blacktown’s answer |
|---|---|
| Can I bring a picnic? | Yes |
| Can I bring alcohol? | No. Alcohol must be bought and consumed in the licensed bar area |
| Are pets allowed? | Yes, on a lead at all times |
| Can I bring a tent or marquee? | Yes, but only in Areas 1 and 3 as directed on the map; large tents, marquees and umbrellas are permitted on the far left and right hand sides of the hill only |
| Are bags checked? | Yes, at entry points by security |
| Is there first aid? | Yes, St John is on site at the top and bottom of the hill |
| Where can people smoke? | Cigarettes and e-cigarettes in designated smoking areas only |
The prohibited list is alcohol and illegal substances of any kind; unauthorised drones, bicycles, tricycles or other motorised scooters or Segways; flares, fireworks and laser pointers; weapons of any kind, including any item that can be used as a projectile; and any device that has the potential to cause injury, become a nuisance or disrupt the event. The City says security can refuse entry to or evict anyone intoxicated or a public nuisance.
The map that the City links under the event details is titled as the 2026 site map. Areas 1 and 3 are shown on a map, so wait for the City to publish a 2027 map before relying on those areas.

What is still to come?
The City has not yet published the headliner, the program, the food and market stalls or a 2027 site map. The 2027 traffic notification may also be updated closer to the day. We will check the City’s page again in the week before the event and on the morning of Tuesday 26 January 2027, and update this guide if anything changes.
