Campbelltown City Council is taking registrations for its 2026 Christmas lights map until 5pm on Sunday 22 November. Registered homes are asked to have their lights on from 1 to 31 December between 8:30pm and 11pm, and the council says it will run free bus tours so people can see them. This guide also lists the council’s holiday closures and the change to bin days over Christmas and New Year.

It follows three pages on the council’s website: Christmas lights, Christmas closures and Christmas waste collections. We read them on 31 October 2026.

How do I register my house for the Campbelltown Christmas lights map?

The council invites residents to decorate their homes for the festive season and register to be featured on the 2026 Christmas lights map. Registrations close at 5pm on Sunday 22 November 2026. The registration is online, through a Register link on the council’s lights page, and we did not see a fee listed.

Condition What the council says
When to have lights on All entrants are encouraged to have lights on from 1 to 31 December 2026, between 8:30pm and 11pm
Your address You agree to your property address being listed in promotional material, including the council website and local flyers for the public to view the lights
Where the display stops The installation stops at your property boundary and does not cover the Council verge
Thank-you gift All entrants receive a gift in appreciation of their participation

In the interests of the environment, the council encourages entrants to use solar-powered or LED lights and to use timers to limit how long displays run. It also encourages people to consider a walking or cycling tour of the lights in their neighbourhood.

Are there bus tours of the Campbelltown Christmas lights?

Two statements appear on the lights page. In the conditions, the council says it will conduct free general public bus tours to view the lights. Under a separate heading, it says residents of the City of Campbelltown are invited to join its community bus tours of the lights and to stay tuned for more information.

The page gives no tour dates, times, pick-up points or booking details yet, and it does not say how the general public tours differ from the community bus tours. We have not filled those gaps. Check the council’s lights page again after registrations close.

What are the ARC Campbelltown’s Christmas hours?

The council says The ARC Campbelltown will operate with reduced hours from Thursday 24 December 2026 until Friday 1 January 2027 inclusive, and will be closed on Christmas Day, Friday 25 December. The council lists these related changes:

  • The ARC Café will have reduced hours from Monday 21 December to Thursday 24 December, and will be closed from Friday 25 December to Sunday 3 January 2027 inclusive.
  • The Learn to Swim program will take a break from lessons from Monday 21 December 2026 to Sunday 3 January 2027 inclusive.
  • The basketball stadium will be closed for resurfacing from Friday 25 December 2026 to Sunday 10 January 2027 inclusive.

The council points to the ARC’s own website for the full opening hours and holiday timetables. We have not listed daily hours because the council page does not give them.

How do Christmas and New Year change bin collections in Campbelltown?

All kerbside bin collections scheduled for Friday 25 December 2026 and Friday 1 January 2027 are delayed by one day. There are no collections on Christmas Day or on New Year’s Day, and those collections happen on Saturday 26 December 2026 and Saturday 2 January 2027. Put your bins out on the day after your usual day.

Usual collection day New collection day
Friday 25 December 2026 (Christmas Day) Saturday 26 December 2026
Friday 1 January 2027 (New Year’s Day) Saturday 2 January 2027

The council’s checklist for getting a bin collected includes putting it out by 6am on the day of collection, keeping it clear of trees and cars (about 1 metre away) and, if possible, 50 centimetres from another bin, facing the street with the wheels closest to your house, closed properly, and no heavier than 60 kilograms. The council directs people to the East Waste website for details on public holiday collections and for hard waste bookings.

Is there a Christmas event at Thorndon Park?

Yes. The council’s Christmas carols and movie night is on Saturday 12 December 2026 from 6pm to 10pm at Thorndon Park, with a screening of The Grinch (PG) at sundown. We cover it in a separate guide: Campbelltown Christmas Carols and Movie 2026 at Thorndon Park.

What has not been confirmed?

  • The dates, times and booking details for the bus tours of the lights, and how the public tours differ from the community tours.
  • Where the map of registered homes will be published.
  • Whether the council will extend the registration deadline of 5pm on 22 November.
  • The ARC Campbelltown’s daily hours between 24 December and 1 January.

We will update this guide if the council adds tour details. You can contact the council on 08 8366 9222 or at mail@campbelltown.sa.gov.au.
